More thought process on the K2 hand.

Yikes, whenever Pman shows himself playing slots, he’s almost always on bad numbers and losing plays. That seems to be his method to cover up his gambling addiction, after all those blackjack/craps/sports betting binges. Find a type of gambling that has an advantage, learn just enough so he can sound like he knows what he’s talking about to non-gamblers and then degen away.

I really hope no one is staking or buying pieces of him, Pman is a deeply sick individual in a way Trooper and Diesel are not.

Halfway through, this is a must watch interview.

Really great interview. It's definitely a must watch/listen

I agree with about 80% of what Limon said in the interview

The 20% I don't agree with is hatred for new age players and tournaments.

You can tell he's a bookie and uses poker as a way to meet his clients. So with the landscape of poker different than it was in the early 2000's he has less clients and I think the new age players have been giving him a bit of a beating too.

I do like his old school way of thinking and he knows his stuff. It just sounds like things aren't as easy as it was for him and it bothers him.

Limon on playing poker for a living.

Limon is still alive?!??

Pchild wakes up not really sure what time or day it is. Pchild goes to register his WSOP account. Pchild wins $100ish playing slots then loses $200 in 2 hours playing 1/2nl. Pchild ends at home going to bed while the sun is still up.

Hats off to Pdad!

I saw this a couple days ago.

He specifically mentions trooper and nomad as being example of broke " pros ".

"You have no boss?maybe you need a boss to give you a kick in the ass" hahaha

Well worth the watch. For those people with only several minutes, there are time stamps. Just jump in at the two minute overall concept abd then his banging Trooper and El Diesel two at a time like Fredo’s cocktail waitresses.

33:16 Modern Poker Knowledge and Skills
35:39 The Reality of Poker Earnings

IIRC, didn’t Limon interview Trooper once or called a livestream?

by Wilfram

Didn't watch Trooper in his hay day - never have consumed his content. Found Rice last year when Trooper was on his candy venture so still don't know much about Trooper at all. Not here to argue but I actually root for Rice and, like many of you, can't get enough of his quirks for a variety of reasons. I even respect him for a couple of reasons. I only bring this up in contrast

Trooper was entertaining the first few years as an underdog, broke in Vegas, eventually returning to wait tables (what he did pre Vegas) at a chain at the Fashion Show Mall. Then he dealt and made good money open part because his fans tipped well at his table and also gave him gifts/giftcards. He created the Westgate meetup game and quit dealing, with enough between the WG rake, YT income and side hustles to be self supporting.

COVID wiped much of this out, so he leeched onto LT’s business and tried to scale what they couldn’t and it cashed. Now he is bitter that he has to schlep back to the Strip. He also developed feuds with multiple vlogers, including Boski, PokerKraut, Mike and the Feather, some alleged sex pervert. He made multiple vlogs and series of vlogs to build up drama or whatever Trooper thought would continue to make him relevant. This made him less likable, at least to longtime viewers like I was. He also got into discussing MAGA, a lot about guns, which turned many off. Currently, he pretty much just bitches a good portion of vlogs, because he really doesn’t want to vlog or gamble anymore, hates the Strip and is burnt out. This was the case a few Summers ago, which is why he quit poker and poker vlogging in the first place.

Rice attacks “mean comments”, I think to try to emulate his idol in generating interest in his vlog. However, he has stated on multiple occasions these rank among the least popular along with his reruns and food cooking. His most popular videos have to do with dealing and time in Vegas. He should stick with those, and he should do well and have people like and support him.

He passes along many comments of people approaching him dealing or walking around, and all these interactions seem positive. He is quirky and has life choices many wouldn’t necessarily want to emulate, but unlike Trooper he seems happy, seems like he is sociable with many poker players he deals to and players he plays with. He grossed me out with the hair in the floor left for a poor maid to clean, so I backed off watching for a while. Interested in his dealing videos, so will continue to watch those, and hope he can build up a good run dealing, living on his own terms, and building savings so he can retire down the line, which seems to be his age 50s goal. This is part of my interest, as I embraced FIRE (Finacial Indepence Retire Early) when I turned 50, several months prior to COVID, and hope he can make it as well.

After watching the limon podcast….

These type of guys are hilarious, screaming at the world for evolving. From an ecological/biological perspective all you would do is limit the invasive species…just curate a private game and limit these “nerds”.

What he is not accepting is that EVEN if you got all the fish to sit at the table, is this sustainable? The fish eventually want to play against someone who they feel is better, competition is still the basis.

The internet changed everything for people in his generation. They just don’t want to accept that access to information makes people smarter.

When the curation of the games moved on to better proprietors must have been when he became angry.

by Koshka

His skills as an AP is as good as his poker game. Good thing he has infinite money glitch i.e. Pdad.

it's hilarious because this slot machine is in a -ev state, the odds are incredibly high he started with $100 and lost $4

lol and then i see he does it again, once again in a -ev state lolololol

and then the 3rd one it's clear he's just degenning it up and it's not that he doesn't understand when it becomes +EV but rather just playing slots as he's literally playing it at the reset point and hit it early

kinda sad that he makes a big deal talking about how he won't degen it up anymore in the pit and will just do slots for ap as that's clearly just an excuse to do his inner degen

my time in vegas has been limited, but you can go for hours without finding a play there because it's so saturated with aps who camp on anything promising and jump on it immediately so i can see how he'd just get bored and hope to bink a jackpot

Just rewatched the F1 with no room. The golden era of Nomadic Method and cannot be replicated by present day Nomads. ELD was storing sausages in his trunk cooler while homeless.

ELD saved the $60 for a cheap weekend airbnb by being homeless for 48 hours. Multiple monorail trips. This was the era where ELD was Platinum allowing lobster, short ribs, and chocolate cake at MGM. All the time every day around Midnight ELD obtained the 8 drinks of red Gatorade and Fiji water. ELD watches F1 for free at the 19th Floor of Bally's hallway by the vending machine. ELD revealed the secret to car sleeping as well - become completely exhausted then sleep upright in the drivers seat for four hours. ELD takes advantage of Diamond late checkout on Friday and Diamond early check in on Sunday.

ELD goes on monologue complaining about horn honkers (only ELD knows when to honk) and complains about Europeans not leaving enough space when standing in line. While passing the Flamingo Habitat he compares himself to a flamingo which is cleaning itself with its beak and also lives Nomadically without a room. Finally it takes three trips to transfer the Nomadic pack from his car to Harrah's at check in.

I used to think Pdad was a bad father to enable his son’s lack of ambition but have come to realize PMans parents likely see him as you would a kid with Downs Syndrome and are just giddy he can live on his own and not hurt himself. Buying him a condo and giving him 1000 or so to live on each month is far better than having the weed smell come up from the basement the next 20 years.

After watching the limon podcast….These type of guys are hilarious, screaming at the world for evolving. From an ecological/biological perspective all you would do is limit the invasive species…just curate a private game and limit these “nerds”.

fish want to have fun. fish can choose where they play. most fish aren't dumb. big games are almost all private. what does that tell you?

He specifically says these "nerds" are way better than him and everyone else was 20 years ago and that today it's very easy to get info in a short amount of times that used to take years of playing to get to at least be competent. He's not complaining about people being better fundamentally at poker- that was inevitable. He's correctly complaining about how way to many pros/regs act at the table. They just don't "get it". Bad players don't have to play poker or they don't have to play in environments they don't like.

Fish want to play in a fun environment. They don't want to play in some sterile environment with people seat hopping them, tanking, not talking etc.
For them gambling is mostly about having fun. Over the years I've seen comments on this forum frankly from "nerds" who aren't capable of understanding why losing players play poker. They think everyone looks at poker like they do and they're completely wrong. If they actually ever bothered to talk to these people at the table for more than 2 seconds they would understand it a lot more.

You're right the information has changed things a lot and it's easier to get good so much faster than it used to be. That makes it MORE important to be fun to play with not less.
When your business gets more competition you need to give your customers an even better experience if you want to keep them.

Well run casinos are trying to give their customer a good experience in return for their money. That's exactly what winning players and ESPECIALLY pros should doing. That's his point and he's right.

Do I agree with every singe thing he said in this video? No but I agree with 80-90 percent of it. Personally I've never made a dollar off the felt from any bad players I've made friends with in poker- at least ev wise. Maybe I'm up lifetime on CCR for a dinner bill but that's just random and I can just as easily be down.

I'm still friends with a few that don't even play poker anymore in casinos or might play a couple of times a year and I'll never make a dollar off of them again. So nobody can say it's a fake friendship and I'm being nice to fleece them. They all still gamble, and mostly gamble big. They'll bet big on sports. They'll play big in the pit. One I know still goes to the casino every weekend and bets anywhere from 20-60 dollars a spin on slots. You can do the math on how much he loses a year on that. He ight play poker once or twice a years in a casino and he can barely make it a few hours. He used to play poker all weekend almost every weekend. He'll still play private NYC games with crazy high rake. It's not losing money that's the issue. It's the games simply aren't fun the vast majority of the time for them in casinos.

If you're punting and you have some dweeb with a backpack with 30 pounds of **** in it, not saying a word other than asking for the seat change button the moment he sits down, hoping to get on your left because just being in a game where you're blasting isn't enough why would you want to play?

At the end of the day live poker is very slow. You need a very high BB/100 to make a good living. And I don't care how good someone is- if you're at a game with no action you can be the best player in the game but your hourly won't be very high. You need bad players to make a good living and anyone pretending otherwise is clueless.

The Buffalo plays aren’t the worst depending on property/tier status/RTP not that Pman is capable of actually putting that all together. That double bingo was pure ploppy work and it could just be selective editing but he’s always on a high variance machine at bad numbers/positions. I’m going to guess you’ll never see him grinding a $500 MHB or checking Ultimate X, because that’s not enough gamble for a true degenerate like him.

This was my takeaway as well, 100%. It was hard for me to follow his logic as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but the idea he conveys early on in the podcast is this:

- Modern winning players are largely "Asperger ******s" (his words - sorry 2+2) that don't realize how important it is to treat the fish well, gamble with them, forge relationships with them, etc. Despite this concedes the poker skill is definitely there in these kinds of players

- Back when guys like him were the winning players, he asserts that you'd lose money to him just like you would to a modern winning player, but one would have a badass time doing it because Limon catered to fish in such a way

This, for me, is the most flawed point. Modern winning players are some of the most fulfilled people I know, and a lot of them are quite kind. ABSOLUTELY the
people that he is talking about exist, but I believe it to be such a minority. Also, Limon admits he has been abrasive and condesceding his whole life, especially to perceived stupidity. Does that sound like a guy who alleges that making the fish happy was a major key to his poker success?

Totally comes off like this:

I started learning about AP slots a few months ago. I don't claim to be an expert but after a lot of digging for info here and there I found some good sources and have a lot of numbers for a lot of games. It's funny how I never noticed how many people are checking machines in Vegas before but once you see it you can't see it.

I realized after about 2 days in vegas checking machines like Buffalo Link Regal Riches and Magic Treasures is a waste of time. Literally the only time I got to play any of those is when I saw someone getting up from playing them and it was on a good number. Otherwise if they've been gone more than a minute or two it's gone. There were times I was playing something and I'd see a bank of Magic Treasures and at most 5 minutes would go by without someone checking them. Sometimes there would be 2 people checking at the same time circling around and both checking the same machines which is pretty funny. And yea people get bored after having no plays and check things too early.

The Vegas machines I'd find plays on were for the most part machines that are way less well known or are high variance. Way too many people know stuff like BL RR and MT.
It was also annoying how these vultures would circle you once something was about to hit hoping you'd get up. One one machine it was one away from hitting, I ran out of money in the machine, stood up like I was about to leave just to watch 3 different people walk towards the machine. Then I laughed, sat back down put money in the machine and finished the play.

I also had a couple of people just sitting at machines trying to sell a play. Half weren't even plays yet. I wasn't sure how to handle that since I don't want to get into an argument and get banned from a property.

In places outside of Vegas the "obvious" machines have been worth checking although it's nothing compared to what a couple of friends have found consistently in the mid west.

PMAN wants to pretend he's a poker pro and he likes to gamble. Sure he'd prefer to have an edge but if he can't find a high number on BL an 1187 will do. Hey it's better than 300!

Surprised the Limon interviewed is getting positive feedbackÂ…. to me how just sounds like typical old man yells at cloud and actually makes himself look like a leech by saying he follows the whales around outside the poker room to take their money in sports betting golf etcÂ….like wtf how slimy is that???

he's definitely abrasive and condescending at times. In general I'd prefer people being blunt rather than fake so while he takes it too far sometimes, it really doesn't bother me but I do see why it can rub people the wrong way.

If people don't like how he delivers the message that's fair but the content of his message is basically correct.

You are right- a lot of these "nerds" are in fact super nice people off the table. Some are complete scumbags as well. And I'm sure the scumbag ratio is a lot higher amongst denens than poker nerds. But merely being nice doesn't make them fun to play with and how they act at the table definitely chases people away from the games. In the past I talked to some of these nice nerds off the table. I've given up on that. We're never going to see eye to eye. They think their job is merely to slap on their headphones, go to the poker table and play each hand to the best of their abilities no matter how long it takes to come to the perfect answer in a hand and social interaction be dambed. And these are guys without a bad bone in their body that wouldn't hurt a fly.

I'm actually not sure how fulfilled a lot of them are. Some sure but for many poker is the be all end all. It's actually funny how if I go a few weeks without player they'll ask me if I was playing in vegas or something. Like the idea of not playing poker 5-6 days a week is insane to them. And when I've been to other countries "how are the games there?" And I tell them why the hell would I travel halfway across the planet to go to a card room, it's a big world out there.

They just want the games to magically be there but don't want to do anything to help them run or continue to run and they don't get how much long term ev they're giving up.

And some are true scumbags and absolute leeches and it's revolting. Stuff like sitting out when the whale goes to eat or take a break. It's bad and pathetic enough in a full game but it's disgusting 4-5 handed when you're trying to keep the game going. These people I have no problem telling to their face that they're pathetic pieces of ****.

When it comes to poker strategy Limon probably is in fact an old man yelling at clouds. But when It comes to AP gambling and a soft hustle which is what poker is at the end of the day he knows exactly what he's talking about.

My initial take was that does sound leechy and it's not something I would do. But by the same token, he's not following them. They want him there. A golf course is a lot different than a poker room. You can't just hang out at the golf club and demand to jump in someone's group and gamble with them. These people want to gamble on golf and have to like his company if they're bringing him.

In general hanging out with poker players can be really weird. I like to be a normal person when I'm off the table. When I go out with friends I just want to hang out with them. But if I hang out with poker players and don't want to gamble on everything they look at me weird. I remember going to play basketball from some people from Borgata one time and right away they wanted to play for money. I'm like yea I just came here to play basketball and they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Surprised? Limon is loved on here, it’s just the weirdos, political mouth breathers and nits that don’t like him. Also, people lash out at him because he has struck nerve with them. Remember, booking is a service that comes with great risk and whales appreciate that.

Yeah Borg, the scum campers are awful and cannot think for themselves so they tend to only check the easiest games looking for numbers. Sitting behind people playing and selling plays should be banned but I’m afraid some casinos want junkies living in their casinos donating any winnings back.

I doubt casinos really want them there. I'm sure good customers can't stand them either and they're a lot more intimidating to older people and women. I told myself if I was at some independent property I'd tell someone trying to sell me a machine to get the hell off the machine and if they didn't Id get security to make them move. But it only happened to me at Caesars and MGM properties and I didn't want to get up getting into an argument (or worse) and getting banned.

Some do some don’t, you listed two that do because junkies are easier to fleece repeatedly than an educated square. Theres casinos closer to you that take measures similar to a Sportsbook moving on action compared to air. Campers are banned, freeplay doesn’t work in advantage machines, after a $600 hit the machines lock even though it isn’t taxable and so on. That’s how should it be done but these larger casinos are so greedy and lazy they let junkies sleep on machines.

Yea I figured it was mostly laziness.

I've seen free play not work in video poker, haven't seen it on other machines yet.

The thing is I think it’s a mistake to put all kinds of whales and recs into the same category of what they consider “fun” or a good game. A lot of huge whales and recs especially in 5/10+ games just like the competition aspect over anything a lot of them are very competitive and want to compete.

While some whales do like to play poker like bingo see flops and socialize etc. but it’s not like you can treat every whale the same and I actually know some whales that don’t appreciate pros catering to them like they are some kind of VIP they can see right through that act…

There’s a pretty big Armenian whale in LA that literally will put on those big Bose headphones not talk to anyone and dust off buy in after buy in without saying a word…

Also has anyone in this thread played with Limon in person?

I have a friend that would the rounds with Limon in public plo games (only in the last couple years) at commerce and he would say things like “I think he talks the talk but is actually pretty tight and reserved and definitely trying to win when he plays. He’s not some kind of court jester entertaining the table for hours on end.”

The reality is He’s sitting his ass in a seat for 8 hours mostly folding hands and taking his time in big spots just like any other pro is.

I honestly think he’s just annoyed he can’t get buy being by far the best (tightest) preflop player in the games anymore and can’t put up winrate he used to without needing to put any off the table work into his game.

I’m also surprised he’s in the biggest market for home games and why he doesn’t host one where he can pick the lineups of droolers or have connections to get invited to games where he’s guaranteed to win…maybe these whale friends he has doesn’t like him as much as he makes it sound…maybe years of fleecing your “friends” would grow tired after a while.

you're describing an outlier player.

What you say makes no sense overall.

People are gambling way bigger than 15-20 years ago in general in the pit on sports etc.
Yet in poker players are better, and public games are much smaller- and that's before adjusting for inflation.

So where are all of these whales who like to play big against good competition? If that's what they liked so much there would be more big games way less.

I do agree many whales can see through an ACT and ass kissing. They're generally not stupid. I'll never kiss a whales ass. I've had a couple of whales who treated everyone like garbage (although it's very rare) and I didn't put up with them trying to treat me that way. But I also want to drink and joke around when I play. Not everyone has to be super social but they can at least make an effort. Playing fast isn't putting on an act.It doesn't take an act to not seat hop, not snap quit when the whale leaves/takes a break etc. Thinking you just show up and people have to give you money is really short sighted.

If your a poker pro you're essentially a small business. Nobody smart with a small business runs their business without trying to provide good customer service.

Look at any big high roller field like triton you have a lot of recreationals there that play for competition over socializing like David einhorn or a lot of the Asian recs
