And even before inflation poker games are getting smaller and smaller. They should be getting bigger if whales were enjoying themselves.
Now adjust for inflation and you'll see how small they've really gotten.
Like I said those the 5/10 1500 cap LA games you say will be running tonight as your evidence of whales are so much smaller than the 10/20/40 games there were plenty of a decade ago.

I think you have me mixed up with another poster. The increase in gambling you attributed to the gaming stats from 1984 are mostly inflation, so that premise is wrong. I don't have a particular opinion on whether or not poker has gotten smaller.

I wasn't even talking about going back to the 80s. I was just talking the last ten years. And a lot of the increase is inflation in that time but poker gets smaller and smaller without even adjusting for inflation.

Limon is one of the most charismatic personalities in poker. I could listen to him shoot the **** for hours.
He is right that the game is different now and is math based rather than feel based which attracts people who tend to be good at math, rather than people who tend to be good with people. But people play to win so you can't fault them for using a superior strategy. It's like people who complain that video games are too "sweaty" now.

But he was also very social.He doesn't claim to be some wild action player.You literally make his point without realizing it. I don't think Rice owns any clothing without holes in it. Every video lately he's sporting shirts with big holes in the sleeves.
Perhaps after he works a few weeks he will have enough money to buy some new clothes although I doubt he would ever waste it on something so frivolous as clothing. Much better to put 100% of it into his dividend stock portfolio so he can retire at 40 with enough riches to go on living like a hobo into his later years.
Shirts tend to get more holes and wear out faster when you are constantly rummaging through your pockets in search of leftover pocket bread.

Coming from the underground private arena (I can’t speak on public casino stuff), I have seen whales with essentially constant cashflow businesses (legal and illegal) show up to games to literally just get the rush from a coinflip in PLO or drink/smoke/bang strippers after winning a couple pots. I have also seen whales who want nothing more than the beat the guy everyone considers the pro because he has some results and consistently wins.
We haven’t spoken much on the psychology of a player who has plenty of money and wants to play for fun but there is a % that have an ego that will eventually kick in when they figure themselves to be dogs at the table whether at a fun casino table or at a fun private game, and to me THOSE guys make up a bulk of the “whales who went missing.” The degens will be there until they are broke. Unless its inherited wealth I expect even the dumbest criminal with money to blow will eventually recognize he is a dog in an amazing environment, and spend his money elsewhere that also may have this “environment.” People like this enjoy sports betting because they can’t see the “Asperger nerd” but he is there, sitting behind a computer code setting lines.
Edit: Do people in the thread see Brad and Andrew’s “meet up games” as the guys “doing it the right way” in a public casino/card room setting? I would imagine they are winners lifetime in those situations?
