Yes, the combination of saying that antisemitism isn't dangerous, that poor immigrants are replacing and ruining society, and that racism isn't bad was not good. You can certainly assign different values to each, but I think most of us would add it up to much the same. I was close to banning him myself for this but CrossNerd got to it first.

i don't lurk in I/P anymore because it's almost as bad as the jordan/lebron thread

but i've never seen any outright racist/fascist stuff written by luciom, only vague allegations of it without any links to where he said such things

i think since he posts about social issues that often align with the right, he gets lumped in as a fascist/racist simply because that is the standard trope

ie there's plenty of people who genuinely think and believe trump is a fascist - despite that he's not even close to being one - i imagine the same is happening with luc

this is not a defense of luc nor trump - but i don't think either are a fascist despite that many in the forum will argue they both are

Fascism brings to mind cartoon villains for most people. In fact, there were ideological underpinnings to fascism that varied by country and among different fascist groups. And there was a fair degree of intellectual support for fascism in certain countries (and intellectual opposition, of course).

Trump is authoritarian, but I wouldn't call Trump a fascist because I don't think there are any ideological underpinnings to his politics.

I don't think it is important to debate whether Luciom is correctly defined as a fascist or not, but I will say this. If, in the near future, a dangerous right wing ideology (whether it goes by the name of fascism or something else) becomes the prevailing ideology in significant parts of the Western world, I think it is likely to resemble Luciom's beliefs.

I wouldn't call it benign, but the current right wing spasm doesn't really feel much of an ideology, at least in USA#1.

Maybe you miss the part where luciom was advocating killing people to prevent them reaching a majority and be able to change some laws through a democratic majority ….
