There’s clearly some sort of personal issue between that mod and the Mets poster. He’s not even close to the worst poster and has repeatedly been punished for benign posts.
The moderation in general has been completely nonsensical and the “no personal attacks” rule is being abused to target certain posters and generally just stifle any meaningful discussion.
I don't agree with Mets on several issues, and I have occasionally found his posts inappropriate. But I really have no idea how anyone could possibly think that his posts are generally worse than those of a few pro-Palestine members who constantly post rage bait and insult other members.

I'm being told by Mets privately that he's in trouble and that cross is about to ban him for a "nothing" post. What's going on here?
Of course none of that is true. Mets was warned last week by King Spew and the rest of the moderation team that his next issue would be a permanent one, and he needed to be on good behavior for the next 6 months. I’ve been fighting to make this work behind the scenes, but of course, this was probably not mentioned.
Mets came into the thread to complain about posters and accused me of targeting Jews with moderation, chasing the Jews out of the thread, and wanting a “Jew-free” zone.
Instead of just using that as the “excuse” to ban him and be done with this, I instead warned him *again* not to do that and gave him a 90 point infraction so he would still take it seriously (lolme)
I see he’s decided to respond to with the above, and I’m just done with the headaches- the same headache over the same thing over and over- that yeah now he’s gone.
Ask me in a month if I’ll reconsider. I’m done with this.

i think he had her on ignore for most of it but that did not slow her down at all
my working theory is that mets defeated her in a game of pog werewolf 14 years ago or something and she never got over it, but who knows

As someone who has never even glanced inside the IP thread, whenever posts are copied into here it seems like mets is way less aggro than some other posters. However based on the posts that make it here it also seems that Crossnerd is entirely correct in saying that his posts are directly targeting other posters where others are not. That could just be because other posters are better at toeing the line but, whether you like it or not, knowing how to use language in an appropriate way to get your point across within the rules does matter on this sort of platform.
Now that might not be "fair" but I don't envy anyone who's trying to moderate that thread and if the rules are explicit that the line is crossed when addressing posters instead of content then based on the posts referenced in this thread they seem to be being enforced reasonably (not commenting on extent of action - as that requires wider context that I don't have because, again, I am judging only on posts that are referenced in this thread - just whether a post is worthy of moderator action).
Crossnerd has been doing an excellent job.

I think everybody wants to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your modding decisions, as are new to the whole thing. There have been accusations of biases, both personal and political, driving your mod decisions in this forum since you came in. When it came out a week or two ago that you have had a long vendetta with Mets, I honestly believe that most people knew that there was a serious problem brewing around here. You backed off and ensured the forum that you would not be moderating Mets; that you will leave the mod decisions regarding that poster up to KS. Here we now are, with you banning him (permanently? for a month?) after calling him a terrible poster.
If you were to attack Mets as a mere user, just as many mods do all the time around here, then it wouldn't be a problem. You are clearly incapable of doing that. You are using your mod powers against a long-time poster because you have personal animosity toward him, and there is no denying that anymore. I cannot think of anything that will kill this forum faster than a runaway mod that takes mod actions against users for personal reasons. If you couldn't set aside your personal biases against people with whom you have a history, you should never have lobbied to become a moderator of this forum.

What vendetta? I don’t agree with his political views and I don’t particularly care for the way he posts them either. I haven’t spent time posting around Mets much in the last ten years. A full decade.
Despite that, I reached out to him immediately when I became a moderator and tried to make sure he knew that. I undertook a lot of effort to ensuring whatever issues he had were put to rest. Since then, he has made a lot of personal accusations and I don’t find it appropriate at all. It makes me uncomfortable.
For as much as he is determined to make this personal, I am determined for it not to be.
Also, King Spew is the one who warned him his next moderation issue would be a permanent ban. No warnings or threats have ever seemed to work. Maybe this will.

Crossnerd clearly set rules regarding the I/P thread.
Mets clearly has broken them many times, as well as others that have been on the other side if his arguments.
It’s like you guys forget we did this exact thing with him like a week ago. He can’t stop fighting with other posters OR the mods.

i'm seeing her calmly discuss that with you guys now instead of warning you to stfu or straight banning - which is what i've seen mulitple times
about half the bans i've received on 2p2 are for protesting the actions of a mod and not at all regarding any posting behavior
it takes a very strong person who can wield the power to make you go away or stfu and stand there taking abuse hearing about how much they suck
so i mean that earnestly, that you may disagree with her decisions, but fact she's willing to discuss them with you now is a very good sign

As I remember it, Crossnerd was planting the seeds that she wanted to be a mod here months before it happened.
As far as I know, she was the only person willing to do the job after I quit. And if everyone continues with this whining, I'm sure she will grow to hate the job (if she isn't there already).
