Wow, great run. Time to finish it off with the win.

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

Always leave them wanting MOAR

Great story telling. Let’s go!

(Author’s note - I’ve reread a few posts and I’m aghast at some of the typos and grammar errors. Forgive me…I’m doing this on my phone and not really spell checking)

open A9o from the cut off and get folds. That buys me another orbit. I look to the other table and there’s one shorter stack than me

We’re 5 handed so the blinds come round fast. I go through the big blind again when I can’t call the open with J3o.

Next hand I’m in the SB. The farmer on the button opens to 2.5x. I look down and see 1010. We only have one option here with 17bb

All in!

The big blind looks at his cards and pauses asks for a count. Hopefully he’s choosing between a call and a fold, not a fold and a shove. 1010 is near the top of my range here - I would 3 bet smaller with AA and KK and I’m shoving almost all pairs and a ton of suited Broadways.

The big blind shoves. Let’s hope he has AK

He doesn’t he has JJ. The same suits as mine too.

I wish I’d had Squid’s “One Time”. I didn’t think to use mine.

The flop offered no help at all. Neither did the turn or river. All of a sudden….the dream is dead. I’m out

11th for $12,700

I have a range of feelings.

I certainly can’t complain - I’ve run above expectation in card distribution and in all ins. I won a big flip and at least half a dozen situations of 70:30s and 60:40s when I covered the all in player. And then I got lucky with the QJ hand

It’s about my biggest mtt score.

But still….11th is just short of the serious money. 11/1380 is 12.7k. Beat 10 more players and it’s 165.

And it’s an incredible spot. Not just to be at 11 left but also the field I’m playing in. I’m not someone that overrates my poker skills but I’m not sure there was anyone better than me left. And there were certainly some worse players

So so close. But still….12.7k and a run I’ll always remember

Grats, Feely. Great run!

That was a fun read. Congrats!

Sick run man, so close. GG.

Bravo!

Great run and terrific pbp!

We'll proof it for you prior to publication, so don't worry about the typos etc!

House painting was great karma apparently. Grats!

great run and ossum tr thus far

what do u have left for tourneys?

I have to wait around at the V for about 40 minutes. For a good reason - I’ve retained my British citizenship and they have a tax code with the US which means gambling winnings aren’t taxable so long as you get a thing called an ITIN. The tournament director helps me with that for which I give him a $20 and I’m free to collect the full amount

I have hardly eaten all day so I wander down to Yardbird and get a seat at the bar. I order their famous Fried Chicken and some Mac n Cheese which hits the spot very nicely.

That plus a Stella and two glasses of red wine are $130 inc tip. Toppy, but it hit the spot very nicely

I call my kids and have a lovely chat with my awesome girlfriend. She has no idea about poker but has always been impressed that I can win money at my hobby and she is so super excited and proud that it made me way more emotional than I had been after the bust out.

Walking along the Strip with $15k in my bag isn’t the smartest maybe but I needed the steps but when I arrive at the Horseshoe at 10.15 ish I’m too keyed up for bed. Instead, I head to the poker room to unwind with a few drinks

I was on such a high that I played 90 mins of the most fun street poker I can remember. I went all in first hand to set the tone (I had AK but they weren’t to know that) and then I basically played every hand and did a ton of 3 betting, check raising and over betting.

The highlight was 3 betting from the SB with 32cc. Then check raising the A 9 2 board, checking the blank turn and then bombing the river after the glorious 3 hit and winning a big pot from a guy with a big Ace

I drank several whiskies and racked up 90 mins later + 396 with everyone hating me

Same. I vote we let this one stand as is when we proof the rest for the book.

what do u have left for tourneys?

I am playing the WSOP Senior's which is/was today and tomorrow.

I had the most incredible table today with two rich Octagenarians to my immediate right who telegraphed their plays, overplayed their hands and made nonsensical bluffs.

They also ran incredibly pure. The one two to my right had 3x his starting stack by level 3. I never really hit any hands but had nurdled around at about starting stack when the guy two to my right opened to 1500 (at 200/400) & then the guy to my immediate right went all in for 30k. I looked down at KK and Snappled. Old guy had AK, there's an A in the window and I am gone!

Shame because all of their chips were there to be taken within the next few hours

I chose not to rebuy but I am prepared to fire two bullets tomorrow. The vibe on the table was actually awful. The two oldies were aged but gentlemen & clearly very successful. There was a South African guy (with $3m in cashes - he won the 2007 LAPC for 2.5m) and a Persian guy who were berating their play and generally patronising them in a way I didn't like at all. Nor did the codgers. I spoke up & they didn't back down and it got quite heated.

either way, I busted soon after but w/e. I wasn't feeling it. I've been to the gym, had an hour at the pool and I'm doing some work in my room now.

I've forgotten to eat again, so I'm gonna find a place to have a good meal - maybe a a steak. Then I'm going to play a cash session at the Horseshoe. It's a terribly run room, the dealers are awful and the floor has a giant obsession with re-filling the $1 chips in front of the dealer constantly. But so far at least, the villains have been ordinary and it's extremely convenient.

happy to meet up with anyone who is in Vegas & wants to eat

Congratulations on a phenomenal run!

And great writing, too!!

I love yardbird and their portions that can feed a whole family!

I do too. And southern food is not something you really get in Australia so that makes it a destination for me.

It’s my 4th time there but sadly the least good. The food came really quickly and I thought both the chicken and the Mac were a little dry and overcooked. It made me think that maybe it had been sitting there a while.

IDK. I still enjoyed it a lot. But less ‘tell other people about it’ than before

"I had K10o and **** it…he was annoying me ..."

This is one of the most entertaining sentences I've read in LVL in quite some time.

I was going to appreciatively quote the same sentence.

Great run!

I really don't want to sound sarcastic about yardbird. I do love it. We are going after Oz in August, but have to wait to book as they only do 45 days (or a month?). It's so good!

You can usually just walk in. That's what I always do 😀 But on my January trip this year I busted at around 6:30 pm on a Saturday and it woulda been an hour wait. I think weekdays are pretty easy to get in.

I saw Oz back in January too and it was awesome!

Currently playing cash at WSOP, would be game for a dinner later if that works.

It's for a birthday, so 8 people. The last time for 10 they gave us a room.

That's probably not relevant.

I do remember my first time there and the group of 5ish people complaining about how much food it was after they all ordered appetizers before chicken and waffles 😀

Anyway. Congrats again to fw, I am jealous on so many levels.
