Feel Wrath's Seniors Special
The Aussie will be in Vegas for 8 nights - 10th to 18th June. Staying at Horseshoe.
It’s been 3 years since my last Veg
I’m missing a ton of hands here. I mentioned this after day 1. IMO, the real art to being good at poker tournaments is staying active and picking up the small pots to keep the stack moving up. It’s not natural for a cash game player like me on the nittier side of TAG to be opening J8hh from 3rd position or 3 betting K7ss from the cut off but that’s absolutely what you have to do. I can’t say I took all of these spots but I took enough to keep me moving forward in between the big hands.
One of the bigger ones was an UTG open from a terrible Indian player with a giant stack. I had K10o and **** it…he was annoying me. I 3 bet him and everyone folded and he called. The flop was 8 high I bet and he called. The turn paired the 8 I bet big and he folded and showed me his 99. I would have shoved river too I think.
We have 1.2 which I think was probably 40bb. And somehow we’re down to about 45. I’m looking at payouts - the key number for me is $5k. I’m still a British citizen which means gambling winnings don’t incur tax but if the payout gets above $5k I need to go through a process to ensure they don’t withhold.
I’m card dead for a level and it’s 30 bb when a hand I’m not sure about happens. I’m moved table again so no reads and Cut Off opens. Button then 3 bets to 6.5bb. I’m in the SB with the beautiful looking AQdd.
If I’m playing a standard mtt this is a clear shove. Ranges are too wide in these positions.
Every chart says to shove.
I fold.
Cut off shoves and button folds
I don’t know if it’s right. But I just decided in a high leverage spot that I’d rather preserve my stack and fight on.
There are 36 left. Current payout is $4.2k

My stack dwindles again. No cards, or not good enough. When did I last see a premium ****ing hand?
I move tables again. I 3 bet 99 against an MP open and it gets through. I open AQ and a 6bb stack shoves from the bb and I hold against KQ
We have another break. I’m at 1.5m

"I had K10o and **** it…he was annoying me ..."
This is one of the most entertaining sentences I've read in LVL in quite some time.
THIS is the run I wanted to be in town for…
LFG!!!
"Terrible Indian player with a giant stack!"
Sounds like an Oxymoron! Might just be a moron as well.
I wonder how that happens more often than not, would this be racist targeting Indian Poker Players in general 😀
But I do like the "F...It Raise!"
Break some legs! Vamoooooooo

Yee haa!!
now the fun starts
Very curious of results….hopefully you are sleeping while holding a trophy
Can't wait to read an update. LGLG
A few hands later I’m in the cut off. MP opens off a bigger than me. I flat 1010…I flat because I don’t want to call a shove from him. Button shoves, MP calls and I have to fold
That same orbit a short stack shoves UTG with 9bb. I’m in the BB and see black 1010. This time I call. He has red 99
Flop is Jc 2c 9s
****.
Turn is Qc….that gives me a ton of outs
River…..K
Vamos! We are at 27 left. There’s a redraw. It’s 5pm and I realise I haven’t eaten anything since 9. I rush to Wahlgreens and grab a protein bar and a yoghurt.

Idk.
One of the best regs in my casino pool is Indian and a great guy too. I do think the middle aged ones I play with have a typology of sorts tbh - bluffy, very talkative often tending towards attempting to be aggravating. This guy was those things but also calling very badly and getting there like it was his job

At the 3 table redraw I see I’m sat with my Indian friend, another huge stack who is an older Asian guy…both to my right which is good.
Bad is that to my left is a good German reg and two to my left is my friend Henry Sun who is a Chinese mid stakes pro who I’ve played cash with for at least 15 years.
Also bad is that I go completely card dead. I don’t find an opening hand for two orbits and in both orbits it folds to me in the SB and both times I lose chips to Ze German. I haven’t done any SB play study and I really don’t know what to do in those spots with marginal hands.
The blinds go up and I’m once again down to something like 24bb when this hand happens. The big stack opens to 2.5x from MP. I have AQhh and 3 bet to 6bb. To my dismay the German reg shoves and then Henry in the BB calls.
Yuk. I can’t do anything other than fold here. German has AK, Henry has KK. There’s an A on the flop but then it actually runs out A 2345 and they chop. Gg my 6bb
I fold for another orbit and then lose my blinds again and I’m back down to around 14bb. I’m UTG +1 and I see QQ. I can raise this but my Indian friend is in the bb and he is calling super wide so I shove. It folds to him and he hems and haws for ages and almost almost calls but then shows J10 and folds. Damn
Meanwhile people have been busting and we’re at 19 left and on the bubble of the next pay jump. I’ve been aware of them to this point but they really haven’t been at all meaningful. They’re now going up at least 1k per ‘bump’ so they’re at lease something to be consider, albeit eyes are on the big prize
Henry busts. Our table breaks and I’m on the move again

C'mon, man! You've got me squenching over here. Giddyup!
17 left now and we’ve had a pay jump. They go 17-14, 13-12, 11-10 and then there’s a ladder every place at the final table

I have two giant stacks at my table including the Indian guy immediately to my left. This isn’t ideal as he is a huge station and I can’t open light and expect to win anything cheaply.
I fold for a while and all of a sudden we’re in the bb with 9.5bb.
The other huge stack, the older Chinese guy opens and the button also calls. I have QJ offsuit in bb.
Hmm…not good enough to shove but I think I have to call here getting 7 to 1. If I hit top pair I’ll go with it.
The flop is K 10 8r.
I weigh things up. I have just over a pot sized stack. A shove here won’t fold out any Kings but it can fold pocket pairs, AQ AJ hands that have me dominated….maybe a 10? And if I get called I have 8 outs against any pairs and more against A10.
I’ve got to get lucky some time. **** it. All In!
Chinese guy calls quickly, button folds. Villain has KQ. Not ideal. I’ve won several all ins but this is the first time I’ve got it in behind.

I have a "1 time" that I have been waiting to allocate. I am officially giving it to you Feely...

fcuking
time
LETS GOOOOOOOOO
I was going to ask for quicker updates but then…
1. It’s your story
2. Your likely playing in tourney now on little sleep
3. This is awesome
Clinching teeth over here!
MOAR!!!
The Chinese guy detonates. “You! You’re a bad player” and storms around the table shaking his head furiously. He still has 4x my chips and 3x chip average but whatever….our man is steaming.
He sits back down and literally starts staring at me, giving me evil looks. I wink at him which probably doesn’t help but he keeps it up
I look away and look back and he’s still doing it. I e had enough. I look him in the eye, point my finger at him and ask him ‘what the **** are you looking at?’. He pretends to not understand so I follow up with ‘how did you get those ****ing chips? By outplaying people?’
That seems to do the trick and he shakes his head and gives me a smile. **** him
There’s a commotion at the other table. Two players have busted. It’s a flopped flush bs a flipped straight vs top two
On AQJsss. Amazingly the turn was Ks and the chop from a Royal on the board was in play but the river is an A and AQ triples
We’ve hit another pay jump - 12 left. I’m forced to move tables again to balance things up.
12 left. We are 6 hanged.
I’m sat to the immediate left of the giant stack. He’s a mid 50s white guy with the ruddy complexion and red nose of a farmer with a drinking problem. I e played with him already - he plays that way too.
Either way it’s a good seat. The rest of the table is actually pretty solid. All early 50s guys, all no doubt decent. None of them who’ll get out of line (I don’t think)
Card deadness resumes. No opening hands, no decent spots, ali whiff a round of blinds. Then there’s an all in and a call on my table. AJ>AQ and we’re down to 11
