The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
I'm a little late to this party and kinda surprised this wasn't bigger news but this is why Pierre isn't worth **** and why he keeps losing and can't **** off fast enough.
**** Canadian politicians.
This BS was precisely why a majority was actually needed. The cons kept pulling this performative parliament-is-theater nonsense instead of trying to provide actually meaningfully helpful improvements on the legislation. I actually like minority governments in general because it has more give and take, but the cons are horrible at this stuff. Grocery store transparency should be so obvious for most people and if you want to propose amendments to lower compliance costs or something fine but not this.

Nothing to disagree with for once. PP likes to grand stand with his populist rhetoric but when it comes to supporting policy that will actually benefit Canadians he will throw us under the bus.
I know lozen has increased his anti-indigenous people in recent years, but I hadn't realized laughing and mocking missing and murdered indigenous women was on the Bingo card.
Honestly, it's pretty sad.
What is really sad is how anyone could vote for a leader that fired his Indigenous Justice Minister after calling her a liar only for us to learn that she was telling the truth and lets not forget skipping the first National Truth and Reconciliation to go surfing
That truly is sad
Lozen, you just made a stupid joke about missing and murdered indigenous women not needing to pay for haircuts. You don't get to stand on a high horse. I get it, you will always degenerate to the same list of things you hate Trudeau for, but at some point you should take accountability for your own rhetoric.

My jokes harmed nobody yet Justin's decisions on Indigenous people did serious harm and yet you were ok with it. That is truly disgusting
For your indigenous employee, do you regularly make jokes about murdered indigenous women not needing to pay for haircuts? Do you drone on about two spirits with them? Heck, do you tell him a hundred times over how dumb you think land acknowledgments are (and no, they are not mandatory)? Or is this one of those things where you are a somewhat normal guy in person but somehow wh
actually a lot of indigenous hate the new usage of two spirits. its seen as a way they are trying to push bs into their culture. It would probably go over fine with a good percentage of them. most tribes like every else outside of some city states ere homophobic. It turns out not reproducing is bad for a tribe with limited resources
That's quite the post.
an act designed to establish a national framework to improve food price transparency and force major grocery chains to reveal how pricing is determined
Right. Why would any Canadian be ''passionate'' about food price transparency.
We should be passionate about lower prices. This bill isn't about that and is more about packaging and consumer information. Are Canadians not smart enough to know the difference between price per gram, 100g, litre?

We are. We can also be passionate about transparency, something that is severely lacking. Why you're challenging this is beyond me.
uhoh pablito just made the cardinal sin of the shifty types: giving a **** about something. All the cool people are just apathetic about everything, come on!
Does it do anything to lower the cost? No?
Everybody already knows every grocery store is different. You have high end nicer ones, and shitty cheaper ones like majority of superstores and walmarts.
Using this bill as an example of why the Liberals need a majority is just lol.
Welp looks like smith has added a referendum about having another referendum on leaving Canada to her slate of virtue signaling questions.

The already passed groceries and essential benefit act was the one that offsets low income people for the cost of groceries etc up to like $1900 for a family of four. But governments can do multiple things, trying to ensure transparency and clear pricing for consumers seems entirely reasonable. I can’t claim any special knowledge here as I haven’t researched the bill yet, but on its face it seems entirely unobjectionable.
The reason for the majority was not this specific bill, it was the general pattern of conservatives endless grandstanding and gumming up the works instead of trying to make sensible, common sense improvements on legislation. Their obstructionism and tomfoolery was tiresome and delays progress. Maybe get your dear leaders to be better at opposition and then come back?

We can use this bill, and the lack of Pierre's vote as a reason why Pierre needs to go. The fact he voted against transparency confirms all the lobbyists claims made against him. Especially damning considering all the price gouging issues we've been facing as consumers over the years.
I get you like being a contrarian but there's absolutely 0 reason to be against transparency. 0.
Out with Pierre.

The sad part is, the Shifty's of the world will celebrate this utter nonsense.
Awful speech from an awful leader.
The reality was that if a group gathered enough signatures they could trigger a referendum . I think they gathered 400,000 which triggered the vote. The vote should have occurred and in reality would not be close and you move on . Hypothetically if the vote was yes that was the time for Indigenous claims to be made in the courts.
Since were talking about awful speeches crybaby Eby on Alberta gets everything we get nothing

The courts said the petition violated treaty rights and so would NOT trigger a referendum. Why exactly is new legal expert lozen convinced the indigenous people are wrong and shouldn’t have filed until after a successful referendum? Doesn’t it make much more sense for them to raise the issue, which is a legitimate and thorny one, now? Shocker Mr laugh at mirdered indigenous women is convinced their legal strategy is mistimed. The fact is Smith has been setting the conditions for this referendum she clearly wants to happen (despite hoping people vote against it) since the beginning.
Eby has a point. I know you like calling people crybabies, but it has been consistently true on many files that BC is getting the short stick from Ottawa. You can blame that on many things - I’m sure you will blame eby - but he is right.

Please explain than why Quebec was allowed a vote?
So Smith is going to have a vote on whether there should be a referendum.
“Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”
I live in Alberta and I hope this question (if it goes ahead) can put an end to the separation question...

At least this way we can get the cards on the table and really determine if Albertans want to truly be a landlocked isolated nation or not. Rip off the bandaid finally and get it over with.
I don't know the details of the legal process for the quebec referendums. My basic view is provinces should follow the legal process, and not have a stupid publicity stunt fake referendum to hold a real referendum after the legal process is temporarily paused on appeals.

She has clearly said she is pushing for Alberta to stay in Canada . Funny how crybabies like you and David Eby are silent on Quebec and the fact they actually have a separatist party and the biggest welfare babies in Canada
