people can just read this short synopsis of it

I do always find it funny that people think Stalin was surprised that Hitler attacked Russia. MK makes it pretty clear what the Nazi intentions were.

its also funny that rickroll is trying to convince us that Egyptians or Palestinians would give a **** about Eastern Euro politics from 80 years ago.

oh right. is Mein Kampf a normal topic of convo?

no but i read every day, stopped in every book store i came across, and mein kampf was usually given a prominent displayseinfeld however was a normal topic of conversation, egyptians love that show and when they learned i was american from ny (i'd tell people i was from new york as i grew up about 2 hours away) they almost all un

Sounds like I shouldn't go to Egypt then. I always found it more irritating than anything else, much like Jerry's comedy and his penchant for dating women fifty years younger than him.

the primary reason seinfeld is prominently viewed as a jewish show is his name is in the title, friends has similar jewish main characters but nobody thinks of that show as "jews in nyc" because the show isn't called Geller

lol, come on, you can't possibly be this dense. Seinfeld frequently makes overt references to Jewish culture/life in a way that Friends virtually never does.

Oh come on. The Holiday Armadillo? j/k, obv

What do you think of women dating a guy 50 years older than them?

i suspect you'd be more bothered by the sexual assault ranging from touching your hair to full on groping if you weren't standing immediately next to another man more than the anti-semitism

in most cases it was just walking up and touching her hair, other times outright groping

whenever protests occur and large groups form in squares, gang rape in the crowds become fairly common, with some foreign journalists being notable targets

this is lara logan right before the assault

it's a culture where if they see an unattended female, they assume she must be a dirty whore who deserves what's coming

WWII is a pretty important event in the modern history of North Africa. I wouldn't necessarily expect educated Egyptians or Palestinians to be ignorant about the events and ideology that led to the war.

I don't think it's a big deal unless, as in the case of one of Jerry's wives, the women met the men when they were ACTUAL teenagers. Then I think it's pretty gross. I don't tend to judge men who date a lot younger, because I prefer to date younger too, but if you're not legal to drink in the U.S., you've been an adult for far too little a period of time to make an informed decision about dating someone with decades more experience of living than you have.

Do you think people younger than 21 should be allowed to vote?

Not gonna lie the only person who ever tried to talk to me about Holocaust denialism was an Iraqi.

Not that surprising. Over the decades, various political and religious leaders in the Islamic world have dabbled in Holocaust denialism. Not all of them by any stretch, but some of them.

And some people uncritically slurp up bigotry as long as it is served up by authority figures. We have a few of those personalities in this forum.

egypt is so messed up that twice kids threw rocks at us on crowded streets and the locals just stood there watching

Sounds like you're just as pleasant to be around in real life as you are online.

How much do you all think an autographed copy of Mein Kampf goes for?

I haven't been to Egypt, but it's on the list before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

I thought it was shuffle off to Buffalo.

I looked into making a side trip there to see the pyramids but after doing some research there is no way. My friend Youseff lives there and says it’s non stop scams and hounding for tips. He says he doesn’t know a person who hasn’t been raped. The roads and driving are horrific. It’s just a nasty place. I have no desire to go to any Middle Eastern country except Israel.

JS was almost 40 and the girlfriend was underage and still in highschool. He is not a good person.

I've spent a total of 18 months living in two different Muslim countries, there were no copies of Mein Kampf in peoples homes, and as per usual rick is making stories up to cast Muslims in a bad light.

I'll bet he even had some photos to support what he's saying, but unfortunately he lost them again.

gotta love how predictably it went "nope all that stuff is made up and let's really talk about those bad jews instead"

You think Rick is making up that when he lived in Egypt for multiple years he witnessed Nazi glorification and sexual assault? When he provided multiple sources directly talking about these phenomenon? Were all those sources making it up too? Is it a conspiracy?

I know nothing about Egypt, and even I know it is a culture (along with Palestinians, which is basically the same culture) notorious for sexual assault of women on the streets. They even have a name for it: taharrush

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_sexua...
Mass sexual assault in Egypt

--It never ceases to amaze me how completely willfully ignorant most leftists are of anything that doesn't align with their ideological priors. I guarantee if it was Israel you would have an encyclopedic knowledge of the phenomenon.

Things were so much simpler during the Cold War when all you Americans had to worry abut was the goddamn Commie bastards under your beds.

lara loomer being gangraped in a public square in view of her camera crew for 25 minutes and getting beaten up so badly she needed to spend 4 days in a hospital recovering is all made up too i guess

by natediggity m

I do because our brilliant leaders have decided that it is perfectly fine to allow them to assume debt, to make enormous life decisions, to sign themselves into contracts that are dangeriously close to legal slavery, and to incarcerate them in federal prisons at that age despite all of the evidence that their brains have not finished developing.

Therefore they need and deserve all of the defense from government encroachment that we can give them.

by rickroll m

So what you're saying is "Ladies, ladies, please don't dislike and distrust this man for his quasi-legal pursuit of underage women who are too young and dazzled by his fame to know any better. Instead focus on the Actual Rapists (tm) controlling the streets and buses on the other side of the world."

Guess what, rick? Astonishingly enough, women CAN hold more than one idea at the same time. We can agree that women should be able to walk outside without getting assaulted and hospitalized by men AND also think that predatory behavior, no matter how it manifests itself, should be condemned when focused at children that our society has deemed too young to have a beer.

I realize this is a troubling concept for you.

Men: It's not all men!
Women: It's too damn many of you, period.
Men: Oh, but see how much worse we COULD BE if we had unquestioned power over both church and state.
Women: You are seriously making me rethink my position on buying a gun.

- Disliking Seinfeld because the title character's actor is a Jew is fairly crappy, disliking it because he is a creep is fine in my book.
- Sales of Mein Kampf is an interesting metric. It sells well in a lot of countries when made available. A few years back it started print again in Germany and did very well. That could be worrying and an indicator of rise in related extremism, as could sales in countries mentioned earlier. Still, you need more meat on the bone to have a meaningful discussion on the subject.
- Excluding the baseline risk of any travel, being a female tourist in Egypt is well known to come with a fairly high risk of creepy encounters and sexual harassment. Extrapolating to to "arabs" or the middle-east in general is crappy, since you have countries like Oman or Jordan which are on the other side of the coin. There is also the interesting case of Saudi-Arabia, which is well known for its regressive politics and culture towards female citizens, but fine to visit.
