I mean, if you’re on a deserted road without other drivers then I guess do what you want. You’re only really endangering yourself. But how can you possibly justify this behavior in any circumstance where there is traffic?

I'm pretty sure you are trolling. It's true that I haven't owned a car in thirty years, but I have to rent several times a year. I obviously understand how cars work.

I'm not really. Using a phone and driving really just isn't that hard. And I'm pretty sure millions of people do it every day so I'm not considering it some major accomplishment. Phones have Swype so it's not like you have to hunt and peck to type. I don't really need to even look at the keyboard mostly to write just to glance at it
