Not in the slightest. They aren't horrible for the games simply because they are good. It's because they don't socialize, tank very often even when they don't need to for balance, give zero action, sit with their other euro friends and ruin the table, leave and take all the money out of the ecosystem. This is well known. Youtube- kdog poker- Texas poker sucks now. He echoes th

While that could somehow present an issue in the long term initially they will be diluted due to the high demand for nyc poker

wtf is this thread turning into lol

So, how big of a market for NYC poker really is there? Id imagine it could possibly be the most poker room.

The market is huge. The only question is how many people will switch from the underground games or stop driving down to Parx.

I think they'd be very smart to offer shuttles and expedited transit there once the table games get going. If they'd do a free shuttle from Manhattan, that would pay for itself several million times over

Or even figure out how to get a ferry stop there and a shuttle from the ferry. I was doing the math of how to get to where from I live, a 5 minute walk to the ferry to The Rockaways (a direct shot, mind you) and it's about 80 mins. Then around a 25 minute subway from there.

Right now, it's a 33 minute drive from me in lower Manhattan or a 78 minute train ride

Shuttle from rockaway ferry entirely possible.

BrianCox: (I) leave and take all the money out of the ecosystem.

I have done much deep reflection and decided to stay put and grow roots in Texas. However, I will send every single Euro crusher I encounter your way.

At MGM National Harbor there is often a 100-200 at the weekend and then at least one if not a few in the range of 10-25 to 25-50 almost every time i have been. Definitely should be similar in NYC though I dont know the state of the private games there.

I am making assumptions here obv.

Will you be paying their rent here, or just footing the bill for their plane ticket? 😉

100-200 what? NLHE? And the games should get BIG in NYC and when it's brand new. I've seen this happen in Macau, Florida, Texas when a new market opens and NYC is the grand daddy.

They prefer trains me thinks.

Yes, spread is often (when busy):

4-8 LHE (1 table)

NLHE:

1-3 (25+ tables)
2-5 (6+ tables)
5-10 (2+ tables)
10-25 or 25-50 (1-2, think it might act largely as a feeder to the bigger game by default)
100-200

Omaha:

1-2 5 card (2-3 tables)
5-5 5 card
Sometimes 10-10 5 card
10-20 limit Big O

Sometimes they have a 1-3 NLHE/PLO (4 card) mix too but I think that's sort of semi-private

So resorts world NYC poker room is coming in Summer of 2026 confirmed?

So resorts world NYC poker room is coming in Summer of 2026 confirmed?

Short answer is no.

Originally they planned to open table games in Summer 2026, now they’re saying March. But dealer school starts today and I’m skeptical they get anything open as early as March. I’d guess the original July open date is more likely.

They also haven’t officially confirmed a poker room at all. Someone dug up an unredacted document from the application process that had an hours of operation list that included a poker room but that’s obviously less than 100% guarantee of a room.

So it’s possible although unlikely they don’t have a poker room, and possible and maybe very likely they don’t open the room with the initial roll out.

I’m hopeful for their poker room to open some time this year, think it’s very likely to happen by early next year at the latest

Theyre attempting to pass a bill in ny that would ban live betting (betting during a match)
If that passes that would be worse than the tax bill that happened last year. What idiot came up with that idea?

-posted this in the resorts thread but figured it made more sense in this thread.

Theyre also tryna introduce online casino in ny. One thing i do agree about in the proposed bill is the ban on sports betting ads. They really be bombarding the games with sports betting ads and betting lines all the time

There is an interesting detail in Addabbo's new online casino bill. Because it calls for no new licenses, only allowing existing casinos and sportsbooks to open online casinos, it circumvents the issue of cannibalizing the new NYC casino. If they're also allowed to open online casino offerings, it should be less of a concern.

Still think it's a significant long shot for 2026, but interesting none the less.

Maybe having the actual licenses confirmed will help. Ballys/Hard Rock/RW have now incurred a big expense and will be racking up more for some time, so why wouldn't they advocate for getting some revenue coming in off it? And for two of the three licenses, the state is a long way off from realising any gaming tax revenue, so why wouldn't they want to get some of that flowing sooner?

If they can't get it done in that kind of good-for-everybody situation...

I mean they're considering banning live betting, which makes absolutely no goddamn sense. So that should tell you where their heads are at

Here's at least one possible positive development in the online space, assuming it sticks of course...

Is there any construction going on at the site that might have anyone believe there will be a poker room there? I didn’t think they had poker in their prospectus that was posted on the casino proposals website.

There’s no construction going on period, the initial openings between March and next year are utilizing existing spaces.

The documents from their application were all redacted so they never publicized a breakout of what games they will have. But one document was accidentally not redacted, an hours of operation list that included a poker room.

It is almost guaranteed they have a poker room, what’s far from certain is when that opens. They’ll be expanding the property between 2027 and 2031. It could be part of the March opening, it could be the last thing to open.
