New York City Area Hype Discussion
Did a quick check but apologies if this already exists, also might be a little premature either way but- given the movem
I think all three licenses will be granted. The only one who might not get it is ballys but donald will prolly push that through
Am I wrong in remembering they make official selections for licenses December 1st?
By Dec 1 is the board's picks to recommend to the commission.
Then by Dec 31 is the final commission decision.
Tomorrow’s the day…… kinda anxious lol
So, Resorts World will definitely get poker tables in June?
No, but would be nice
I’m fired up.
LFG
I'm sure this thread was looked at... Let's go NY poker taking over.
If anyone wants to watch, it starts at 10am
All 3 approved! Woo hoo
Now if Resorts World can go ahead and unredact their documents and reveal plans for a 100 table poker room that will open with the June open date that would be great 😄
Hello All. Yay NYC pokers!
Are you all concerned with random crazies/crime? When I was there in 2022 it was like Gotham. Also what about targeted robberies on poker players when the casinos open? How good do you expect security to be?

When you were where? NYC in general?
Yeah, I got killed 8 times yesterday. Crime is really bad here

Any ideas why they would not just reveal it at this point?
I would definitely be surprised if they didn't have one given all their other US casinos have poker rooms.
Everyone should reach out to them and voice support for a poker room

The crazy stuff I witnessed was on the streets of Manhattan and on the subway all over the city. Not trying to derail the poker talk just curious if people would feel safe with a family in NYC?
Be careful you're on your 9th and final life.

I was born in NYC in Brooklyn in the 90s. Have lived here my entire life. Raised by people who lived here through the 70s-90s.
I assure you, NYC is safer than it has ever been, except maybeeeeeeee 2015-2019.
That said, I think mid-high stakes players need to be aware, but they need to be aware everywhere. People aren’t really plotting locks on people carrying <$10K. And if you’re holding more than that, you should already be in the habit of caution. New York robbers can come get you in Parx and AC too it’s not like they’re only allowed to rob on their turf.
I do not think the risk of low level street mugging are any worse than at any other casino town, unless you’re taking public transport with reckless abandon lol

I’m hoping it’s just a matter of they haven’t unredacted them yet but they will. Flip side, I guess there’s no real benefit of releasing the details yet

Well in 2022 I witnessed a dude punch another dude in the middle of Time Square and bloody his nose (seemed like a personal dispute, not a huge deal),
an alcoholic dude scared my wife on the empty-ish subway as she thought he was coming straight at her (he wasn’t.)
And most disturbing a fat methed out homeless nutjob who didn’t know what planet she was on attacked a lady cop who was walking by and the lady cop just ran away. Insane.
Oh and all the guys sneaking on the subway without paying was sketchy
Glad to hear you think it’s safer now though. Cheers.

I assume you’re trolling after the last point but for fun,
In 2009 two blocks away from the museum of natural history, a group of middle school age kids pulled a gun on me in broad daylight in an attempted mugging. That wasn’t the first or second time I’d seen a gun that month, and I was in high school.
In 2005, when I first started taking the subway every day, I was taught to never wear Apple headphones on the train because you would be targeted by muggers. We were let out of school early on days like Halloween so as not to be victims of random face slashings for gang initiations.
In the early 90s and 80s the murder rate was almost 2K/yr.
NYC still has crime. It is exponentially safer today than it has been historically.
