New York City Area Hype Discussion
Did a quick check but apologies if this already exists, also might be a little premature either way but- given the movem
Just making sure I read it right but does the link mean that they're planning on having a poker room?
Yea 16 hour a day poker room
it's the city that never sleeps.... 16 hrs is a slap in the face.
Anyone care to speculate what stakes and games will be available and when the poker room will open?
Let’s get this thread HYPDED.

Let’s get this thread HYPDED.
Let’s say 40 tables (guess based on Hard Rocks proposal, I’m still praying for 100.)
I would assume the room is packed to the gills at least initially.
I’m gonna break that out based on nothing but experience in other rooms, adjusted for NY with a healthy dose of optimism.
1/3 - 15 tables
2/5 - 8 tables
5/10 - 4 tables
10/25+ - 2 tables
2/2 PLO - 2 tables
5/5 PLO - 2 tables
Higher PLO - 2 tables
Other limit/mixed/etc - 5 tables.
Could easily swing more towards PLO.
Might swing more towards higher stakes. Is there any chance they do 2/5 minimum? Maybe 2/5 100bb and 2/5 deep?
Any variations like triple blind? Rock? Bomb pots?
I dont think 40 tables are enough for the initial blitz of people. Wait times will be bad
40 will never be enough
just look at Boston Harbor, they had something like 33 tables of 1/3 running when it opened
now try to stretch that over a population that's an order of magnitude larger
there are probably close to 40 underground club tables going on any given day where they rake $40+ a hand
I suspect even if they open an 80 table room (very slim chance of that based on 500 total approved tables) it would be packed to the brim
I agree demand well exceeds 40 tables. But Ballys is gonna have 40, Hard Rock 30. I also don’t think the casinos are gonna mind if there’s long wait times, all the more time for you to wander to the pits while you wait.
I still don’t think it’s a favorite for poker to be included in the initial opening. And if it is, I think we’d be pretty lucky to get 40 off the rip.
I’m still praying for 100 lol
So with the initial 16 hour daily window it'd be something like 10am-2am? I bet stuck players will be throwing chips in chasing hands like crazy that last hour or so.
Is anyone else feeling pre-rich? Games are going to be sick the first year or two.

sick if you can ever get a seat in a game...
they'll probably just do 24 tables, 15 of them $12 rake fiesta 1/3 and not give a flying f about waits

$40 a hand? Thats gotta be high stakes or pure entertainment at that point right?
$40/hand is more than average but people advertise $15 cap 10% 1/3 as low rake, plenty 1/3 and 2/5 is $25 cap, and there are definitely straight up uncapped games. A lot of people just don’t know or care to know what’s good lol

Part of me is fighting ferociously to stay conservative in my expectations of the game and humble in my expectations of myself.
Part of me is ready to quit my job
Cant be for 1/3, whether you win or lose the hand 1/4 of your stackwould be gone lol
Who here is going to help me start the big PLO games every morning?
Really need more HYPE from this thread. I realize Mamdani is gunna be the mayor npbut ffs can we turn the energy up a notch?

Until it’s announced and actually starting its really mostly hearsay at this point

most whales dont give a flying **** what the rake is
edit: I also have a feeling there will be a good amount of PLO tables.
And here I thought there was an awful lot of "Ready to start lining up for seats rn" feeling going on... 😆
Go back to the beginning of the thread. It was pretty hypey 20some years ago when all this started. Cooled a little since the state has taken a couple forevers to get it going. At least they haven't (yet) botched it as much as legal pot, though.
