Btw put Aqueduct Race Track into google maps for directions. Its the same place but for some stupid reason if you search Resorts World New York City it defaults you to the least transit accessible entrance of the property.
Yeah, I just don't really want to walk through Broadway Junction with a couple thousand dollars on me, so I might prefer a nicer LIRR ride with a beer and the shuttle from Jamacia
Taking the A to the end of the line and then an uber isn't the worst option either
Taking the 4/5 from your stuytown apt and transferring to an A at Fulton would still be faster than schlepping to your LIRR stop of choice to get to Jamaica and then waiting on that shuttle (which only comes once per hour) and all the traffic.
Are you also afraid of a 3min walk through a lower Manhattan subway stop when you have cash on you?
And drinking a beer on the LIRR is just as illegal as drinking one in the subway.
If you find yourself on a Lefferts Blvd bound A, instead getting off at Rockaway Blvd and waiting ~10mins for the one behind it that is going to the Rockaways/JFK/Aqueduct stop, you could choose instead getting off at 104 St and to walk the ~20mins to the casino or you could take a short uber.

Faster, sure. I might prefer a longer, more comfortable route, though
Drinking on the LIRR is 100% legal
Either way, I'll play around with whatever I want to do. Not a big deal, either way. Beats the pants off of all other options

I can't see the Open lawsuit doing much in the way of stopping this. From what I hear, it's about parking, and there should be some kind of compromise to be had beneficial to both. I think having the casino there will be a boon for the US Open

I don't think there's many people who would head out there intending to go to the Open but go to the casino instead and never show up at the Open. On the flip side, I do think a bunch of people would head to the casino during the open, perhaps start betting on it, and then talk themselves into going

I think it's the other way as well, I've been to Philly Live on the days when the Phillies or Eagles are playing and haven't had a slightest inclination to take a gander
If they are the only one to actually obtain the license and the poker room isnt huge, wait lists will probably be crazy
They will be absolutely insane at first opening for sure, even if 3 rooms open. My only experience of this was a) Encore Boston Harbor (even that had rooms not as far away) and b) Rivers Chicago (which still had technically Horseshoe Hammond and Hollywood Aurora nearby, as well as a big charity room). Both were MADNESS in terms of lists at the start.
Suspect NYC will be way worse, even if RW is inconvenient for most. Assume it will calm down after a few months when people move back to their underground games, but for the random weekenders will remain crazy for a long time.
Yea its gonna be a show up at 5-6am to get a good seat situation. Weekdays might not be as crazy

How many people are really gonna go to the US open at the last second? Tickets are already expensive especially the further into it you go. There aren't going to be that many last minute customers and they're all gonna buy on secondary sites anyway.
I don't think people will have tickets, miss the Open and go to the casino. But a lot will go to the casino before or after who wouldn't have otherwise.

Pretty simple. The barrier to entry for the US Open is it’s sold out, tickets are expensive, and you need to be a big enough fan of tennis to pay a lot of $$ to sit out in the heat all day watching it
The barrier to entry for the casino is you walk inside to an air conditioned building for free and you can leave after a few minutes if you don’t want to stay and gamble
Two weeks out from planned decision , and a judge has upheld the US Opens lawsuit, plus RW is now asking to walk back their proposed tax rate because everybody else proposed lower.
