House Of Cardin, 2019
Absolutely fantastic doc about fashion designer and brand maker Pierre Cardin. What an incredibly fascinating man with a life that seems like a movie. The man was gay buy had a 4 year relationship with actress Jeanne Moreau, too. I remember back in the day, everyone wanting a belt with the Pierre Cardin logo buckle lol. And his men's cologne bottle that looks like a penis.
Cardin was once turned away from Paris' famous Maxim's because he wasn't wearing a tie - so he bought it. And he owned it until the day he died.
I LOVED this movie. Cardin was one-of-a-kind.
Yeah, me too! But THEE Bogey and Bacall classic seems inconcievable to miss. Especially wkth all the obscure crap you have seen 😀
Bugonia is AMAZING... specially when you have the entire theater to yourself.
Even though the third act is 'weird', but I do get the messaging...
The Cinematography and Art Direction was superb as it was shot in Vista Vision with a fantastic 1.50:1
I feel like Yorgos Lanthimos is in some death spiral of weirdness right now, akin to late era Andy Kaufman's time spent wrestling the ladies.

I plan to see it on Tuesday afternoon. I'm not expecting a big crowd either.
BTW, La Boheme is being broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera today with repeats on Wednesday here. If you've never seen it, it's an amazing production that I saw at the Met last year. Sets designed by Franco Zeferreli are stunning, and it even features a donkey and a horse on stage.
I decided to see it because of Moonstruck. I'm not s big opera fan, but I decided I had to see this one. Glad I did.

The original Korean film Save the Green Planet! (2003) is awesome.
I'm intrigued by the concept of a remake, but have only seen Killing of a Sacred Deer by the director, which I thought was absolutely awful, so I'm a bit leery of checking Bugonia out.
Killing Of A sacred Dear was an interesting failure, but pretty much awful. Everything else Lanthimos is worth watching.

I thought it was ok. Can't remember that much about it now, but my review of it at the time is this:
"Slow, overmannered and sometimes annoying, this is nonetheless somewhat captivating, and keeps you guessing about what may happen next. It's reminiscent of Kubrick in places, and Cronenberg at about his 'Dead Ringers' phase."
This reminded me, I have waited for a decent release of my favourite Kaiju movie, War of the Gargantuas, for decades.
As Korean films go, it kinda flew under the radar and internationally was probably overshadowed by the likes of Oldboy or Memories of Murder, which were released the same year. I'd definitely recommend it though it's a highly entertaining mishmash of genres and well worth checking out.

Ah, gotcha my bad. That one just didn't work for me at all, alas. I'll probably still check out Bugonia though. I reckon you'd dig Green Planet if you haven't caught yet, you should check it out.

Lol I saw that in the theater when I was about 10. It was glorious
