We've been in a redic bull market for 17 years while the US has become the world's powerhouse in tech. At some point, we either stop or slow down this level of growth or we increase at a high rate of inflation year over year which wouldn't match previous returns.
It would surprise no one if we were to fall 60% from here so not only would it be a perfectly fine idea to take your money out of the top of the market at the top of the bull run to put it in something earning 4% steady income, it could easily be a +ev decision to do something like that regardless - especially if you have an expiration date of 20 years or less.
