President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
He only hates wars because it’s money spent on something other than his crappy property or whatever other scams he’s involved in. If he’d found a way to profit from war he’d be all in on them.
He dgaf about the number of casualties of wars.
He threw away a peace deal with Iran and started a war and now is going to war with drug cartels in Venezuela. John Yoo was on NPR saying this is a huge overreach. This administration is literally more pro war than the guy who wrote the torture memos and gave the Bush administration the legal justification for the war on terror.
Anyone see the clip where miller says trump has plenary authority, then completely freezes?
There are people talking about it and showing the clip all over YouTube.
But the official CNN YouTube channel shows a version of the interview with that part (both the phrase and the pause) edited out.
And people think CNN is biased towards the Democrats. If they were before, they certainly aren't now.
I also cannot think of one single positive human trait that Donald Trump shows. Care to list a few traits you think he exhibits that are typically found in a well-adjusted, functioning adult to show they are well balanced/reasonable/intelligent?
-Hates war, mentions the death needs to stop almost daily and every time he talks about war
-Never drank or done drugs
-Highly successful in multiple domains, business, Television, Politics, etc.
-Good kids, never in trouble (don't smoke crack), educated, business leaders etc.
-Extremely popular before and after politics, spanning decades
-Wins multiple club championships

I honestly thought he hated war as well, until the last month or so when he has been trying to start something with Venezuela and brought back Department Of War.
He was not really that successful in business, and to the extent that he was successful it was by being an unethical businessman and not paying his bills.
Ivanka seemed to turn out ok. Can't say the same about his other children.
There's nothing particularly redeeming about winning golf games, especially by someone known to cheat.

Hating war and understanding sometimes bad people have die are 2 different things. Peace through stength

He 100% was/is a successful businessman any dispute of that is just poltical. Its not unethical, construction is tough business it's very common for disputes between clients and contractors to end up in courts especially for projects and contracts in 100s of millions.
That's your opinion. Before politics nobody had issues with by all publics knowledge appear to be respectable people for growing up billionaires.

Anyone who spent any amount of time around golf clubs wouldn't say this. It's impossible for someone to continuously cheat and win club championships.
go to youtube
type in "plenary authority"
yeah there's only about a million results, that was tuff

anyway yeah pretty notable that cnn tried to help them scrub that one
lolol

Understanding that some people have to die is not the same thing as wanting war so much that you rename the defense department.
He was known as a businessman for not paying his bills and for filing for bankruptcy many times, including bankrupting casinos. Those are literally the things I knew about him as a businessman before he got into politics.
It has since been shown that if he had taken his inheritance and invested it in a standard index fund, he would have had more money than he had in 2024.
You really think it's impossible to cheat at a golf competition when you 1 - own the golf course, and 2 - have the power (and the pettiness) to make life hell for anyone who accuses you?
I bet Stalin won every game he ever played.
Let's see.
He reinforces fearful impulses and scapegoats people. He encourages an angry mob and polarization. He villainizes people. He identifies and sympathizes with dictators like Bolsonaro and threatens the Brazilian govt with tariffs because they convicted Bolsonaro of treason.
He threatens other countries like Canada and Greenland with annexation of their territory which undermines our countries historical relationships.
He (like Biden) supports Israel's genocide in Gaza which is making both the US and Israel into global pariahs.
He went off at the UN and insulted the global community about climate science with obvious ignorance. Imagine the legacy he's leaving his son Baron who will have to live in the aftermath of his neglect of planetary stability. How does a man not care about the future experience of his own son ? Is there anything worse than that ?
Colombia’s President Says Boat Bom...
I guess they all look alike???
he plays for the jays, right? yes habeas corpus looked disgusting -- nipples protruding-- in his blue shirt before the faithful at yankee stadium. very very disrespectful, might have to suspend him.
But, you realise, there's a reason he currently affects the 'I hate wars' persona, right?
oh ****, Venezuela is in big trouble
Do Nobel peace prize's winners usually ask/campaign for it or is it just a Trump thing?
lol maybe Kissinger, but I can't remember that for sure. I can't remember any others
The only prize Trump deserves is the Jimmy Saville Award for Child Protection.
It boils down to a fundamental misunderstanding of Scandinavian political culture, where independence of committees and appointments is expected. If you exert political pressure on such institutions, the likely outcome is that they feel pressured to assert their independence.
Basically, if a you as a person in power say "Give me X", it becomes less likely that you get it.
If that is always fair or not is an open debate. Promoting yourself isn't always unjustified, but it is at least a decent mechanism against political interference.
Regardless, I read up briefly on the winner, she seemed like a deserving candidate and hopefully I can say the same about her in ten years time. The prize also sends a strong signal that it is both about peace and human rights. And yes, I know there are plenty of botched winners in the past, so no... miffed Trump-supporters do not need to lecture me about them.
Nominations had to be in by Feb of 2025 if anything he would be more likely eligible next year not this year.
No they do not ask for it but many campaign behind closed doors for it .
