President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Michelle Obama tried to bring some attention to this issue. I probably dunked on her on this very forum because of how much press arugula got at the time, but her heart was in the right place. We were fed slop at school when I was a kid, too, but I went home and played outside for another 5 hours before having to come back home for the night. We don't do that anymore. Now, kids

idk maybe you should reflect a little on yourself that you reflexively mock people over very stupid and superficial reasons.

also arugula is an S-tier leafy green.

I suspect a large portion of outrage towards body positivity is not about health, but a tool to delegitimise something that at a fundamental level is good (more tolerance and compassion) and to provide a green light to outrage

Hint: A large amount of the rallying in discourse on the right is ‘Libs are mad that a white, blonde girl is getting attention!’

Early in the Sweeney arc republicans rallied around how dumb the libs were to call this a dog whistle. Now we’re at a point where Fox News is pushing images of Sweeney and Barron as the future power couple of politics. It’s pure comedy

Thats why I've maintained that the conversation is stupid. The show where Sydney, apparently, got naked a bunch is the same show that generated controversy among conservatives because of racy depictions of Hunter Schafer. You know, the same show heavily ingested by deeply liberal women that are being referenced as fat angry prudish anti-boob anti hot girl curmudgeons.

If there was any concentrated outrage it was because the ad was a blatant dog whistle for nazi style eugenics, but again, the point of the ad was to be vague enough for plausible deniability but on the nose enough that the management chain in charge of the commercial 100% knew this would happen on some level.

The point of this right wing media push isn't to create a logical argument against real left wing people, its to create fantasy style content for malleable consumers

I just tried to search for said dunking but came up empty. I found a few posts of me supporting improvements in healthy school options but also saying something along the lines of, "If the kids are just throwing it away and the schools want to stop wasting money on it, we should stop being obstinate about it."

I've never consumed arugula as far as I'm aware, so I'll take your word for it.

As usual, these problems start and end at home. The schools can't fix bad parenting.

Lol at all this when you mock me for being fit. Make up your mind, clownshoes.

This is not the least bit surprising

If I remember correctly, the last time I mocked you was over your claim that 10 pounds of apples was a viable meal option for a normal human adult.

You're definitely a nut, you just have a higher bench than I do.

There's a happy middle ground somewhere between my body by Frito Lay and your roid rage issues.

The outrage process that's taken place over the last so many years: a radical and often absurd idea, held by a small minority of people, is brought to attention by the "other side." It goes viral and everyone is talking. The other side has hyperbolic takes and misrepresents the original idea and its prevalence. Then people show up to defend the radical idea against the other side and in doing so, they defend the hyperbolic version of it en masse, absorbing it into their ideological worldview, making it the norm and driving us apart.

I agree to both sides with the caveat that outrage politics is more of a right thing

Speaking to emotion in politicisation is not necessarily a bad thing. The issues with which we politicise and the emotions that are evoked alongside are where I’d step away from both sidesing

by Elrazor

American Eagle ad was clearly designed to trigger the woke left into creating a firestorm out of nothing, and guess what it worked.

I’ll pick on Elrazor here because he seems like an utterly miserable person already

Here, the outrage is the point. It supersedes any sort of politics

Would not both sides here

Agreed. If we're trying to understand the ethical principles that guide our politics, they're an important component, but we're not good at recognizing the irrational responses that often arise from them.

Bill Clinton would like a word

clinton
1 man 1 vote

maga
millions votes

Did I imply you were offering financial advice? I was saying that if you think AE is going to go up and up because of liberal tears you should put your money where your mouth is. You won’t though because you were just idiotically cherrypicking the 5-day trend.

My point was I didn't know who American Eagle were 5 days ago. Do I think this add is going to turn AE into Apple? Nope.

However, whether you like it or not it was a successful campaign, as it got global attention (including a section on the BBC's flagship news programme in the UK yesterday) and the stock when up.

Yes so it’s the stupid point that lefties like to make when stocks fluctuate. Why did you make it seem like I missed the point when I didn’t?

Anyone that knows even a tiny bit about stocks could tell you why that’s a stupid thing to say, but again it’s a fun narrative so enjoy

Close enough. Over your meal of a family-size bag of Cheetos or two greasy stuffed bags of McDonald's? Apples, for sure.

The irony of you yapping on and on about Sweeney and how she's the ideal body type people prefer, yada yada, yet she's far closer to "roid rage issues" than being doughy. Again, make up your mind, ffs.

by checkraisdraw

The stock going up was one data point that supported the argument that it was a successful ad campaign. There are others.

The point was that the ad got more traction that it otherwise would because woke idiots wrote articles about white supremacy and eugenics.

The point was not ZOMG buy buy buy.

the stock market is for making money. if your read is that they did this to make money, of course that’s why they did it. but then by that token if you think it’s an effective strategy then it should lead for long term gains.

the honest truth is that it hasn’t been effective to make them money and you are not willing to put money down that it will. so what are we doing here then? having fun telling a story about owning the libs. that’s it.

Any thoughts on our zero percent tariffs on Russia and Tr*mp's ignorance of the subject?

https://www.aninews.in/news/world/us/i-d...

We were told "sanctions" are why Russia has no tariffs. Maybe there's another reason just one country is exempt? Like Epstein it's all plain as day. If Tr*mp and maga aren't working with Russia, they're at best useful idiots.

It's as true now as it was when Frank Zappa said it years ago:

"Politics is the entertainment division of the Military-Industrial Complex"

Who do you think should try to fix bad parenting? It seems wrong to let it go on without trying something, doesn't it?

Trump bizarrely wandering on the roof of the White House shouting strange things

A necessary first step is for the parent to want to be a good parent.

After that, the second step is for the parent to be willing to seek and receive wise counsel from family members, friends and neighbors who are not bad parents. Good role models are almost invariably essential for success in any endeavor.
