Even though this isn't directed at me, I meant the "Really bad PR" comment. Leaving my thoughts on I/P aside, chillrob said that Israel could exterminate Gaza in an hour or less, not two years. If a genocide is happening, there's plausible deniability built into marketing it as a war, attributing a number of deaths to collateral damage, denying a population food and blaming it on politics, etc., and the responsible party can maintain a certain level of support from the public that would be much harder to sell if they bombed two million people within an hour.
