I'm not entertaining MAGAs in conversation anymore. I have no expectation of changing anyone's mind and so from now on, anyone in my life - and on 2+2 - who reveal themselves to be MAGA, I will no longer engage. Period.

these days English is taught worldwide in schools and the expectation is that at 18 you did 13 years of school.

normal people born in 1900 had perhaps 5-6 years of school and almost none learnt any foreign language.

not speaking English decently today if you are under 30 anywhere in the world means you are the bottom of the barrell of your society, tragically low IQ and/or uneducated and/or dramatically poor, anyone middle class anywhere in the world can learn English very well and it's almost free as well with online sources (+ watching movies in English, listening to music in English and so on).

basically it's absolutely super reasonable to filter for English knowledge in 2025, and claim anyone who doesn't speak English decently should be barred from immigration as odds are if you don't speak English in 2025 you will be a net tax taker for your whole life for the above reasons.

now your claim might instead be true if we discuss people who immigrate to Denmark, it's hard to learn danish and not obvious to learn it from outside the country.
