President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

It's all the Democrats. All they do is take pre-tax donations from pot-taking Bolshevik lesbian couples, mix it all in with huge NEA grants, launder it in inner-city methadone clinics, and pump it right back out to pro-abortion Super PAC's.

Lmao

Oh wait, you’re serious

you guys had your hillary and your kamala. they couldn't win. why does this keep getting ignored over and over?

By ignored, do you mean constantly talked about? The NYTimes alone has hundreds of articles on why each of those candidates lost.

by Montrealcorp

Well that would imply people couldn’t prevent becoming more and more evil .
I kind of disagree , usually at some point the saner side wins but yes, some exception obviously can happens but that is because the democratic system been already compromise shrug .

No it doesn't imply that.

People are the still just people but the situation gets worse. The saner side does win it's share but is it good or is it least worse?

Edit: the problem is it’s disanalagous, you can’t just substitute names of people that lost.

i wasn't making an analogy so much as i was suggesting that shitlibs never reckon with their losses the way they insist leftists must. well, actually they do, but the takeaway always is, as the famous tweet says, "we gotta get more racist". damn why is this lesser evil ratchet not making things better? who's to say...

Biden won in 2020 against Trump. Why do you keep ignoring that? Pretty sure team auto-pen which selected Harris and got spanked at the elections is busy trying to understand why. Pretty sure you can understand why they don't discuss it with people like you who hate them and want them gone forever

I’m not going to focus on the obvious semantic point of you substituting terms in an attempt to offer a comparison and instead just point out that there have been 40 trillion think pieces on why the dems have lost, and I have ridiculed extensively some of the dumb takeaways (remember the Kamala political strategist that insisted that the reason they lost is because they didn’t coordinate with superpacs enough? lol).

But I guess one takeaway from this reply is that you agree that leftists don’t reckon with their losses and always try to externalize the loss to something else— media manipulation, DNC putting their thumbs on the scale, that dang Obama and Clyburn anointing Biden, etc.

11 states have sales taxes which round to 7% (from 6.5 to 7.25 and these are the highest rates)

5 of them are red and 1 is purple.

5 states have no sales tax. 2 are blue, 2 are red and one is purple.

Essentially it's a tie. So, like, your post was really dumb, right? You should have looked this up before typing.

it's meaningless to look at the state level because cities and counties can do their own sales tax - so the odds of this being accurate when it goes from theory to application is very low

for example, new york state is 4% but that jumps to 9% in nyc and half the population of the state lives under a 9% sales tax rate (and a lot of other stuff is taxed much higher locally too) - ie new york city puts an additional $1.5 tax on cigarettes vs the rest of the state

in fact the last two big money makers for organized crime in nyc were evading gas and cigarette tax so they sell a $13 pack of smokes, pay $6.50 in tax and another $3.5 in product and shipping and make $3 a pack vs get missouri cigs which have a 17 cent tax, bring them in, remove the MO tax stamps and replace with fake NYC tax stamps and now your profit per pack goes from $3 a pack to $9.33 a pack - tripling your profits

same is done with gasoline, but if irrc that was more buying a place with an anonymous shell company and selling as much gas as they could - something that's a significantly higher profit margin without paying the tax and then after a couple months when it's time to pay the tax bill they just sell it and ghost - then form a new anonymous shell company, buy a new gas station and rinse and repeat

new hampshire is the only state in the USA where cities and counties are forbidden from imposing their own local sales tax

Getting a drivers license or state id already requires multiple forms of identification.

You really just can’t wrap your head around the real issue. Voting should be fast. Maybe it needs to be online but that’s a security nightmare too. Verifying multiple forms of id takes time.

The system we have already works better than the proposed change

i've never agreed with this mentality

if you do not have any state id, passport, or driver's license you simply chose to not participate in society and i have no sympathy if that means you don't get vote

agreed. dark mode is far superior than light mode.

but despite repeated requests to the owners, they won't put multi-quote in dark mode :(

Socialists are extremists. So by that logic you should keep voting for democrats if you’re a socialist.

Doesn't seem like logic but whatever

by checkraisdraw

The Democrats were the ones that passed the civil rights acts, despite the fact that they relied heavily on the racist southern* vote. So are we really so sure that both sides would do it?

this is absolutely not true

lbj was the president at the time, but the house and senate that drove it forward were republicans, most of the bill was written and pushed forward by republicans

my senior thesis advisor in college, a republican aide working under California Republican Thomas Kuchel, had been the author of much of the bill

Kuchel was also instrumental in breaking the fillibuster of the act, which was done by democrats

I’m following your idiotic line of reasoning so if you don’t like it you can blame yourself.

p1: Lesser evil voting helps extremists
p2: Socialists are extremists
C: Lesser evil voting helps socialists

I mean yeah your premises are clearly false but if we assume it’s true that’s what we come out with.

You're not following anything much to do with me

but voting for least worst will definitely give you more chance of a stalin type of leader. If that's the sort of 'socialist' you want then sure go for it.

Without the support of LBJ and liberal democrats it never would have been passed. Furthermore it destroyed the party that they had because it alienated Southern Democrats, who were quite powerful at the time.

I don’t think either of those two points are controversial.

Too many leftists refused to vote for Sanders as the lesser of 2 evils in 2016/2020 against Clinton/Biden respectively so he lost. If only people would simply vote for their preferred ranked choice candidate maybe things would be different.

I’m literally just following your points to their logical conclusion, you’re agreeing that the conclusion follows, but you just say it sarcastically to make it look like you are rebutting me when you’re agreeing with me.

you're being a bit generous on yourself there but on the specific - I dont agree that socialist implies extremists.

you might but that's down to you.

by chezlaw

No it doesn't imply that.

People are the still just people but the situation gets worse. The saner side does win it's share but is it good or is it least worse?

the saner side came dangerously close to a nuclear war with Russia and killed 100s of thousands of Palestinian children for run and profit. there is no lesser of two evils here.

Putin is never using nukes lol He's too much of a wuss and afraid to die--which firing nukes would guarantee for him.

I think you guys should focus more on not ****ing up all the layups youve been given instead of arguing what degree of leftism is best.

Because arguing over running a campaign on "the lesser evils" or going full lefty are both dogshit strategies.
