President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Im not making some argument that dems are bad and look at what they did during the civil war!

My point is that the argument that they "switched sides" or they "were" the party of such, oversimplifies 150+ years. There was a lot adapting going on with the populus in a changing world since then - happened during the industrial revolution, civil rights and the depression.

OK, like I said, that has nothing to do with what I was saying then. I even provided a basic primer of how this switch happened, so you must be arguing with someone besides me. Carry on I guess.

the one thing Gorgonian, someone who claims he is a socialist at heart btw, will not abide is any denigration of the Democratic party.

The democratic party sucks dude. You lose every time you try this. Stop trying. You aren't even smart enough to realize this wasn't about democratic vs republican, it was about left vs right.

Well said.

But in my opinion it goes far beyond "left versus right."

Racism, for example, is a by-product NOT of a left vs. right, or liberal vs. conservative, but rather is a by-product of Provincialism and/or Tribalism.

That's why the racist politicians and their racist constituents could be New Deal Democrats.

In the late 1960's the GOP "Southern Strategy" was to win over the democrats there whose Tribalism/Provincialism found them at odds with the Democrat party in power at the federal level who were enforcing the Civil Rights legislation.

It was a practical (yet obviously cynical) strategem to create a new voting bloc for the GOP.

That's why I said in an earlier post that it's all about POWER, not IDEOLOGY.

Trump thread the right place for this?

People struggle to grasp that parties adapt and that it's pressure to win votes thet is key to so much progress. It makes it too obvious just how catastrophically bad the stratgey of voting 'least worst' is.

That’s not always the case. For a long time in the UK politicians were decidedly more progressive than the public on a number of issues.

It's still better than voting the 'worst' when the choices are so meagre.

There's a reason that voting the 'least worst' has been around so very long.

So we’re now seriously at the point where ‘ya but Dems were the party of slavery, gotcha libtard’ is substantive?

Of course its better than voting 'worst'

Punching yourself in the balls is also better than shooting yourself in the head.

Man, the idea of visiting the States nowadays feels like the olympics, once every four years (metaphorically).

It's good for the SP500 so it's good for anyone who has stocks worldwide basically (vast majority of normal stock funds even outside the USA have sizeble allocations in american stocks).

So every foreigner with savings is better off, with no negatives, in his personal life. They even removed the provision to tax foreign owenrship in countries that "behave badly".

I mean J F C it's literally your job. SP500 is doing ATH after ATH with the passing of the BBB.

Normalisation of racism and satisfaction of seeing the gestapo rounding immigrants up. It’s not nothing to them.

Edit maybe this Eurotrash should keep quiet too

It’ll always be amusing to me how nativist, facist, bigot, waste of life human garbage Lucollini wants to spend 16 hours a day on the internet while in Italy telling Americans how they should live without a trace of realization to the irony of it

Was a fun year trying to play poker professionally again

Sure lest ignore that the stock market was at this levels like 6 months ago, that time got wasted because someone thought it was a great idea to start a trade war with the whole world lol...

And the dollar is down 10% in that time because of erratic trade policy and tax cut fueled debt concerns.

That's because of Crooked Joe Biden! Somehow!
