** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
Playing a meaningless game for third place in the heat of Miami is brutal.
Free Ireland !
No sarcasm, I think England/France is a compelling matchup, and I can’t wait to watch it
Yes lol you could see it going to their heads, thinking it is smart to invite that much pressure without even stepping out of the box to prevent crosses and shots
yeah, the dumbass english announcers in the 1st half were talking about how it's totally fine to let argentina fire from 20-25 yards and i'm like you sure about that?
5 - Argentina have scored five goals from outside the box at the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Lionel Messi x2, Giovani Lo Celso, Julián Alvarez, Enzo Fernández) - the joint-most on record (from 1966) by any side in a single edition. Scope.
and the crosses too, yeah. how many came close? crazy
well it worked against the mexican midgets, so...
the manager, i mean
why on earth we would put a german in charge of our national team, its beyond belief
This calls for a 2014 langering:
For the 23rd consecutive time in World Cup history, no foreign manager has been able to win the tournament.
errrybody build a wall
No sarcasm, I think England/France is a compelling matchup, and I can’t wait to watch it
Could be awesome if they just say **** it and roll out Cherki to style and profile and others who didn't play much and are hungry. If it's mostly the same lineups, everyone will be completely knackered and not really caring, plus the insane heat, and it will be a **** match.
Pretty sure you can't maintain Mexican citizenship and not be a no era penal guy.
What on earth was Tuchel thinking
had djed spence been argentine he would have screamed and twisted around on the ground and gotten a freekick on the 2-1 goal
argentina's strategy of just do nothing and let them go up a goal, then come back in the last 10 minutes of the game is diabolical on opposing country fans, and it's worked every game.
3rd place stuff used to be very standard even here in the us, including the (NFL (ironically in Miami every year)! ncaa tournament, etc) once upon a time. We realized it was stupid and stopped and the rest of the world hasn't caught up to that yet.
Great game but hard to watch in an English owner bar with mostly english fans after the second goal
Glad to not hear it's coming home for another four years
Only way to make it meaningful is to make it for automatics qualification for 4 years time. Which….would also mean the losing finalists qualify automatically
Tbh even that isn’t super meaningful as they money grab up to 64 teams
