I couldn't finish the stream last night, did they show how Ralph Perry went from 23m to 13m?

no, he was an outer table. They only show eliminations out there. Though we saw someone lose tons of chips on godson's table yesterday and missed it all so.

ensan/deeb at same table again with givens and the chip leader and Galiana, that's quite the table. (joshi's there too, he 2x overbet bluffed and got snapped (I would've snapped too I didn't buy it either but standard higher stakes stuff like that you don't always see in the main). Well we know what table A is gonna be today. After that I guess todd brunson for the name, and no idea on table 3, pick one. zhang (last woman but she's very short stacked) or pads or mueller or perry, doesn't matter there wont' be many outer tables soon enough.

Are they for sure playing all 5 levels today or will they stop at 27? Not sure anyone will know but usually the last day is 27 down to 9, my favorite day in all of tournament poker.
There are a number of short stacks so we could go from 62 down into the 40's pretty quickly.

27 down to 9 used to be the best live stream of the year but haven't they messed with it for a couple of years now to try and make it shorter? It's not always 27 to 9 anymore.

The pay jump fishing is over.

I don't like these shot clocks and time banks. It's the biggest tournament on the biggest stage. You need an appropriate amount of time to make a life changing decision.

Imagine busting before the guy stalling for 15 minutes with 1 chip back. Disgusting behavior.

Floor discretion is best for excessive tanking imo.

This is 'why we can't have nice things' in a nutshell. Everything you are saying here makes sense but people collectively abused the privilege.

When it comes to shot clocks, I feel they should either be introduced at the very early stages of the tournament or not at all. Kyosuke Nagami was at one of my tables. He has a really good track record for making it deep into the main event. For the last two years (three years if you include this one) he has cashed deep in the money, not likely a coincidence. This guy is doing something really right to do that. 0.02 * 0.02 * 0.02 = 0.0008% chance for a random player.

I saw one of his call downs on a very scary board with trip aces weak kicker BB v MPish/EPish opener. It was a triple barrel and the pot was huge. My initial impression was, this guy is either a really weak player or a very strong player to make that river call. After seeing his track record I'm assuming it is the later.

I'm in favor of shot clocks for all tournaments including the main, I don't like them implementing them mid tournament.

This.

People putting in 98% of their stack then tanking for 5 minutes in an attempt to ladder up half a buy-in is an absolute joke. But nobody calls the clock because they don't want to have the clock called on them if/when they do the same thing.

With that said, hilariously bad decision imo to implement this without much warning. Guessing future MEs and possibly all WSOP tourneys will have shot clocks starting from a certain point next year.

Chip leader Tyler Gaston is Deputy District Attorney for Clark County.

Thing is, the clocks really aren't needed until what at least day 5. day 1 is certainly unnecessary.

That said, they definitely shouldn't be surprising people in the middle of the tournament with them.

During prize jumps, the position on which you bust should be based on what time the hand starts, im sure there is a way in which we can implement this.

For example instead of a shot clock, the dealer presses a button everytime a new hand starts and it will show at what time the hand started. This can be implemented close to prize jumps only. Bubble spots should still be hand for hand obviously.

Yeah I am all for them choosing that starting on Day X that a shot clock and time banks will be added and I appreciate it as a viewer as the tanking can get excessive however it's unfair in my mind to introduce it mid tournament if that was not stated at the beginning of the tournament.

They should have, for this year, said that excessive tanking will be monitored and then added a new rule for next year on what day it would added in the main. Day 5 seems to make the most sense.

Will surely change the dynamics the rest of the way.

so I'm assuming Shaun Deeb isn't bothered by being on a feature all day every day?

I think 20 seconds pre if there is no raise already is fine, but if there is already a raise at least bump to 30 seconds and then maybe 45 seconds post flop and maybe 2 minutes if facing an All In or a bet that would put you all in if you called.

Maybe introduce them one level before the money. Think that guy telling all at the table to stall was the drop.

Thinking about it, what will be the logistics? Keeping count of time banks and all.

btw, regarding Nagami 24/25/26 main events he finished 21st, 170th, and this year is in the final 62. and to his great credit, I watched all of this and don't remember this guy at all. If I ever run deep I hope nobody remembers it.

This is such a good idea! It actually encourages quicker play. And with tablets it should be easy enough to do.

don't like constantly adding more stuff for the dealer to do it's also easy to forget at least I definitely would

edit--wonder if the clock influenced that allin, he had enough to just flat and see a turn and decide then. Same thing probably happens but still.

He's not a big name and he's from Japan (likely speaks poor English etc.). Not exactly the guy that it's natural for poker media and the broadcast to put their spotlight on.

The gold section dealers are the best of the best. This is a great idea. Things slowed down noticeably yesterday although I personally never saw any tanking and only saw the clock called once, by deeb during my brief stint at the feature table.
