Second break 41.4 depending on the black Chip run out. I was down to 6500 after I ran Ace King suited intoAA. So I'm kind of happy that I brought it back to a playable stack.

I'm out 240th out of 986 I got real car dead towards the end but I did build my stack back up a little bit to no avail. This is a real nice event though I'm probably going to end up playing it at least one or two more times.

Great run, these things happen

The Daily Deepstack is a good and interesting event. It has a lot of gambool in it. At least today's did. The last hour I played the players left number kept ticking down a couple a minute. I figured if I could get one more double up as I was down to 10 bigs I would have a real shot at the money.

I very briefly considered getting on the cash list at V but all I reaally wanted to do was take my contacts out and take my shoes off. Hopefully gonna get a good night sleep and be fresh for the seniors 1A tomorrow.

I am finding a week in Vegas is a long time! And I got another week to go. Won't be so bad if I can bink something 😀

My 88 hand from this mornings tournament was still gnawing at me so I wanted to make sure. I plugged it into the solver and yeah it gave me 100% call. Felt a little dirty and still does but you can't win these things by opening and folding to shoves with a playable hand. Winning flips is an important poker skill 😀

I slept pretty good last night but it was still a little too short. The fitness center opens at 6:00 and I wanted to get a nice workout in this morning which I did. After getting cleaned up I headed down to the coffee shop at the Treasure Island for breakfast. I had the Denver omelette which was great and by avoiding the bread and potatoes it was a nice carb-free meal.

After breakfast I slid $100 into a bubble craps machine and that didn't work out at all I was immediately down to just $38. I took that ticket and slid it into a slot machine and I got all my money back. I even got a free breakfast out of the deal.

I'm already registered for the WSOP 1K seniors day 1A and I'm going to start heading down that way pretty soon. I still need to get a few steps in before the tournament starts. I think at least a couple of us will be playing in this event today so if anybody wants to get together on breaks shoot me a pm.

Today ends my first week of this two week adventure and begins my second week. Hopefully the second week works out a little better than the first although the first was okay. I basically threaded water in the poker world. So far I'm up 296 in cash and I'm down 269 in tournament play. That leaves me with a cool $27 profit so far. I hope to improve on that a lot in the coming week.

I know that no one really sleeps in Vegas, but I love that you have early morning TR updates.

I do a live trip report. Meaning I tell you what's happening right now. Right now I'm sitting in a Horseshoe Casino getting ready to go in for the seniors at 10:00 hopefully I can run well today. It's got a nice long slow structure with one hour levels but it's only a 20K starting stack so if you get into trouble early it could get ugly fast.

Oh, I know. Some people play late and update later in the morning. I'm not advocating updating before you want to sleep or do whatever to unwind before going to bed. It's just fun to have an early riser with an early report!

As an aside, you used to stay at Cosmo sometimes? Didn't like the property or no more offers?

I like this end of the strip better with Venetian and the Wynn

I was just curious. There really is no wrong answer especially when you've been a bunch of times and know what you like.

GL!

First break 17.7 K I've never been above starting stack. So far this thing started out playing exactly how I feared it would. People raising way too much preflop in relation to stack size. I had a couple good hands I had to play early on and I just got killed with them pocket sevens pocket Jacks pocket tens. I'm glad to have come back to where I am I was down to about 11k at one point.

GL mrb. If you see Shannon or Neal, say hi. 😉

Get em!!!

I have 15. The most incredible table and I’m to the right of two guys over 70…one of whom has 65000 already!

Third break 22.4 k hey it's progress anyway I'm above the starting stack. Actually I was up this High about an hour ago and got slapped back down to about 12K and have been grinding back up to this point ever since. Play at my table isn't great but I keep missing or getting sucked out on but I feel pretty confident right now.

I'm out I can't believe I lasted 6 hours in that thing with the miserable run of cards I had. More later.

Thoughts on today's WSOP senior tournament. Initially I figured I would fire another bullet tomorrow but I am not doing that. The competition is mostly mediocre but I hate the structure. In theory it is great structure with a high S rating but in practice it sucks.

The 20K starting stack is a killer because the field over bets and bloats the pot in the early levels. At 100 big blind the standard open at my table was 500 (400-600). Now it costs too much to enter and the pot gets bloated for post flop making that 20K stack shrink pretty fast after a few missed hands. Even the DDS and Wynn daily with 25K starting stacks are preferable.

I was gonna head straight to the V for cash but I am kinda burned out right now. I think I will just chill in the room, watch TV, drinks a few beers and catch up on my financial charts and of course all the other TRs.

There are lots of options for tomorrow. Venetian and Aria both have 800 one days, MGM has a 2 day 400, Golden Nugget has a 2 day 420. I think I am leaning Aria because I haven't played there in so long. Aria dailies used to be my favorite until Wynn and Venetian started always offering something better. I have some very memorable deep runs there.

yes there was some 6x opens at my table!

you actually have to play tighter than you think because of that. I still think there is a ton of value & it's worth a rebuy - if you run well it could be super profitable

I noticed the same this year - 3x or more as opening 2bet. Last year seemed more standard at 2x. I didn’t mind….just never had much to play back.

You’ve got me thinking about that aria or Venetian tourney tomorrow. Or maybe go against my word and fire 2nd wsop bullet…

Yeah, extreme tightness early on is warranted. My problem was getting 77, TT, and JJ early and getting played back at hard post flop. I think late reg (level 2 or 3) might be a good strategy. But I was missing everything when I had playable hands. If you do get off to a good start in this thing it could be very comfortable.

I lasted as long as I did because the structure let fold longer than shorter structures.

After busting yesterday I was tired grumpy and hungry. A bad combination 😀 I was hoping to get through on just that omlette but on my way back to TI I stopped at Howling Ray's for a to go fried chicken sandwich to eat in the room. Sorry I forgot to take a picture but that was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had! Truly epic and puts Popeyes and chick-fil-a to shame. Today however no eating out. It will be a snack only day. I have some beef sticks, pistacios and granola bars. Gotta minimize these heavy meals, at least for a day.

Anyway I was really dragging ass and by 8pm could barely keep my eyes opened. So I said screw it and just climbed into bed. Remarkably I slept for 10 straight hours! I never sleep that long and especially in Vegas. Woke up feeling fresh and went straight to the fitness center for a good hour of sweat. Now I feel ready to take on the world!

I have decided on the MGM 11am $400 2 day tournament. I haven't gotten any dedicated steps in today but trudging all the way down to MGM and back should rectify that.

Tomorrow hopefully day 2 or likely Golden Nugget or Southpoint if I miss.

Good luck! 10 hours sleep is incredible
