That was definitely a game that the Spurs needed to win given how many minutes Wemby played.
I don't think the Spurs are going to be thrilled with their offensive execution in the fourth quarter and the first overtime. They had too many possessions where there tney took too long to get into their sets and then Castle turned it over trying to force a pass to Wemby. If SGA had shot the ball better, OKC would have won despite how well Wemby played.
All that said, Wemby certainly looked like the best player in world. Truly great performance.
Spurs looked gassed at the end. Don’t think they made a single sub after taking out Keldon Johnson with like 6 minutes left. That Wemby 3 saved it. Young guards started cracking at the end but didn’t fall apart. Nutso game

Sure. And like I said, the Spurs could have executed much better down the stretch, which also would have ensured a win even if SGA shot it better. I don't expect Castle to have 11 TOs in game 2.
I don't know whether the answer is more Hartenstein or better gang rebounding by the wings, but OKC has to be more competitive on the glass to win the series. -21 on the glass is very difficult to overcome.

I cant believe we're living in an era where a 7'5 dude is hitting 32 foot 3s that aren't desperation heaves at the buzzer (or even that). He shot that **** with confidence and willed his team to victory.

The reason I took Spurs 70-1 is because I read that Wemby did high intensity basketball cardio training combined with playing blitz chess.
Training with Shaolin Monks was also factored in.

Wemby got like 2 late dunks easy buckets by utilizing his height while pinning defenders.
Think you gotta role with Chet and hope he doesn't get into foul trouble.

If you are going to defend Wemby with smaller players, they have to bother him down low more than Caruso and JDub did. If you give up more lobs by playing Wemby with smaller defenders, but you force him to turn it over 7 or 8 times, that tradeoff may be OK. But he only had 3 TOs last night. I tend to agree with making Chet the primary defender, but it isn't clear that doing so will solve the rebounding problem. I also understand the problem on offense if you play Hartenstein. I'm not saying that OKC has to play Hartenstein and Chet together, or that they have to play Hartenstein at all when Wemby is on the floor. But one way or the other, they have to rebound the ball better. Minus 21 on the boards puts too much pressure on OKC to shoot the ball well. There are no easy decisions here.

Other determining factors in favour of SA repeating ad infinitum is Spurs shooting 30% from 3 (vs 38% and Champagnie 3/11) and Fox not playing ; several data points to nitpick if one chooses to do so. Caruso having an absolute outlier game etcetera, etc.

I don't feel like that trade off will work in OKC's favour long term.
That's something a smart team like SA can figure out and exploit. I think they kind of solved it at the end of last game.
Stat of the day (by KOC) : OKC took 50% of their shots from 3 pt range with Wemby on the floor, as opposed to 18% when off!!!
