POG PUB 2025-2026: About damn time. For a lot of things. But not everything.

Happy New Year, everyone.

I'll let you all mentally fill in the categories in the title.

My recent TOS realization is that in the scene everyone references as being the first interracial kiss on TV, Captain Kirk is specifically being TORTURED in the interaction.

haha yes im sure mine will update it constantly

You/wife can also update the Mom's frame too.

I'm living next to some roosters, and their near constant screeching surprisingly isn't as irritating as I'd think.

but it made me think... do hens hear it and be like "omfg I love that! yes! more! please!"? hard to imagine

yeah all those write ups you did were great! I think you did some other episodes? or other star trek writing?

lol at describing yourself as leaning to the right in the USA though

yes I've seen your metrics on this, I'm basically Hitler to you, lol.

I never thought the rooster was crowing about a mate. I had just assumed it directly perceived the raw terror of existence and whatnot.

hmmm... i never gave the rooster that much credit. but that makes sense.

i remember as a little kid watching groups of flies buzz around each other. it seemed to be how they spent most of their time. i couldn't figure out what they were doing. just flying around in a group and occassionaly dive bombing each other.

i decided it must be a mating thing. and then i figured all animals(including humans) spend basically all of what they do either for mating, food, or territory. and socializing/relationships

for the roosters, i'd guess it's mostly a territory thing. but the hens probably like it when they screech.

Accurate

the guy sitting for the pic is certainly staged. the woman in the background, glued to her phone is probably not staged

also what's going on with the guy's pants?

pants, baggy

Adidas, fresh out the box

In spring an old man's fancy turns to lumber.

Just ordered 20 board feet of curly tiger maple from a place up in Xenia. new lumber plug. They have beautiful quartersawn sapele I will be buying soon.

I love watching and listening to sawmills. Wish I had a mill. I have a 14" Grizzly bandsaw. If I install the riser block kit I can resaw at 12" which is pretty good. I can put a fairly good sized log through that. I also have a ten inch jointer AND a badass planer so I can in fact make lumber.

My father and grandfather were both millwrights so maybe this is in my blood. Of course, they rarely worked on mills if ever. Millwrights mostly install huge machines into any kind of factory.

They get crates and crates of crap and manufacturer instructions and they put the machines together and weld things up. Like Ikea from hell. Aligning these machines on center before we had lasers was a giant pita.

Cool! What's the project?

A couple years ago, I found a new unused 2x4 along the road/my walking path. I have it leaning against the wall in my garage.

My latest tool acquisition is a vise I got at Christmas. I use it a ton. Should of bought it 20 years ago,

I don't know exactly what I'm using the maple for, depends how well figured it is and how it takes oil etc.

In general right now I am building shelves, cabinets, etc. Storage built-ins. Building the workshop itself mostly.

The last big thing I have to set up down there is a big ole Shop Fox Dust Collection system. That's kinda the heart of the wood shop.

Herbie the Robot Vacuum patrols down there now and I bought a new vacuum same model for upstairs. He is named Sabu (RIP).

He's not named Sabu RIP just Sabu.

The other huge question is how exactly to set everything up for workflow. I have plenty of space.

Foreground: dust collection system

Background: jointer and Dewalt planer. Also the edge of my Dewalt miter saw mount. I need to build a chop saw cabinet.

Midground(?): Grizzly GO555 Bandsaw.

Mounted on the wall you can see the target range for my pellet gun. There are holes in the wall because a pellet gun is not very accurate. There is no rifling so the point 17 caliber pellet just tumbles in the air.

Pellet gun is great because it's air powered. If I shoot some annoying sumbitch it is not discharging a firearm.

With the accuracy though I'd be lucky to hit the side of a barn.

This is Sabu.

He is the nephew of the Original Sheik. Not the Iron Sheik. The Original Sheik. When I was a kid my favorite part of the grocery store was the magazine section, and the wrestling mags always had The Sheik and Abdullah the Butcher on the cover drenched in blood.

I saw him wrestle live only once at an ECW on TNN taping. Also the only time I got to see New Jack (RIP).

I knew these kids growing up, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. they all hated each other so much that each of them would buy their own issue of the wrestling magazine instead of share. so they would buy 4 copies of the same magazine.

I saw Sabu at a dark match in 1993 against the guy would later be Scotty 2 Hotty.

Remember leaving the event wondering "why isn't this guy more famous?"

I'm super jealous of all the space! I love it!

It reminds me of a relative of my wife who built a workshop in his backyard in Tucson AZ. (With crazy cool vacuum/dust handling system) A few years later, he decided he couldn't handle AZ heat and moved back to CA. RIP workshop

PS. He now has dementia and can't remember something from 10 minutes ao. :(

What happened to all the poker podcasts.

PokerGo have not dropped an episode since February and Poker in the Ears since last summer.

Adam Scwartz and ODB haven't released anything since early February.

I might have to listen to the Pokernews Podcast at this rate.

I could do a podcast. What kind of content do you want?

Daily WSOP round to from someone who is there, not just reading things you found online. 20 mins a day is enough.
