Thank you all for your thoughts during this difficult time. I can't say I'm at peace with the inevitable outcome, but I've accepted the fact that it's coming - today, tomorrow or next week or next month. My sincerest hope is she's comfortable and not in any pain. Next is that I can see her again before. 30 hours.Meanwhile, in Phoenix, CR and I hit the David Byrne show last nigh

I really need to see this tour some time. I saw a condensed version at a music festival like 8 years ago during the first iteration of this concept. Amazing stuff. I might have even gotten a little choked up during This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).

Almost as magical as seeing the Stop Maxing Sense restored movie in IMAX a few years ago. What an amazing concert film that is.

MtMother1 slipped this mortal coil yesterday evening, at home in her own bed, surrounded by family. I was able to see her before, although I'm not sure she knew I was there. Hospice nurse had said she was unresponsive all day. She was peaceful, at least, not in apparent pain or struggling to breathe. I am strangely at peace also.

I'm not sure which stage of grief posting to 2+2 is, especially at 03:30am? I'm obviously handling it well.

Hug your family, parents, children and siblings before it's too late. You never know how much time you have left.

Deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear.

Sincere condolences, AzOther1. Be well.

Passing along my condolences for your loss. Hope you and your family can find comfort in all of the good memories you shared.

Condolences for your loss :( I have lost both my parents in recent years - it's a weird feeling for sure.

hey AzbrOther1

standing offer of stout shoulders iffin' ever a requiring one for leaning

most all the following voices have also passed mortal coil ejection processes
yet notice how their haunting memory echoes still reverberate perpetual peace within hollow places from our life

blessed be MtMother1

I am so sorry. Very glad she was at peace and that you have found some, too.

Thanks everyone. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions this week, for sure. I'm glad I was able to come up (x2) and be here for/with my brother.

I'm also glad I have a little time to myself engaged in meditation.

I've just put my tickets up for sale and cancelled my Ellis Island reservation, so this TR is officially, err, dead. (Too soon?) (I joke about it so I don't cry). Might have been able to swing it by burning some work good will, but have decided to postpone enjoyment for the time being.

Planning COL in July in Mt, which may just coincide with some other things going on there, including two (mid-week? WTH?) WSP shows in Missoula or Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons run thru western Montana (W'Fish -> Bzn -> VCx3), either of which would do nicely.

Until then I've got Claypool Gold, James McMurtry and Kurt Vile and the Violaters shows (not same line-up!) planned. Just picked up a couple of $30 tickets for the Black Crowes later this summer, too.

saw kurt vile in beijing, it was a good show

smart to take some time off from work, trying to force yourself through this stuff can lead to more problems down the line at work

We saw McMurtry a few times. My wife used to say they should offer to refund everyone's ticket price if he smiled.

Enjoy all the shows. Brief distractions go a long ways. Not long enough, but every little bit helps.

I've seen McMurtry maybe 4 or 5 times in ~6 years. The last time (documented on this site somewhere) he actually joked and smiled a little during his set. Previous times, not so much. He's got a sarcastic sense of humor, though (the highest form of humor!), which I approve.

KV is a long-time bucket list item. Loved his stuff with Courtney Barnett (Love CB, too!) and what I've heard from him, otherwise. Birthday show on a Friday night? I'm getting black-out drunk! JK, probably.

LOL
We may have had this conversation here previously.
Yeah, McMurtry's sparse comments on stage and his comments on social media betray his sense of humor. He just never looks like he's enjoying his job.
