I think you completely over estimate Iranian leverage and (hopefully) over estimate the appetite and capacity to escalate. And your contention any "ally" of the IRGC will do anything more than covertly supply the IRGC is absurd.

Regardless there will be no WW3 because no one will join Iran (except their own paramilitaries in Iraq and Yemen). The worst that will happen is that Iran will be bombed back to the Stone Age and the GCC countries and world economy will take a solid hit. And that is the worst. The most likely outcome is parties come back to the table and a deal is made.

Iran has screwed itself. Now there are three mega projects that will make going through the strait not necessary. A canal is being built through Oman as one of the projects. No one will want to work with Iran again. I hope the US takes over Kharg and starves the country to death.
