By free you mean completely restricting?
My dog is living a better life than 95% of dogs in the US. Perhaps the dogs that are getting two + hours at dog beach every day (I know most of them) have it better but there won't be many.
Obviously every one trusts you with their dogs so what is the problem. Sadly many folks do not understand small town mentality

Actually my neighbor with the labs (who is about to be my landlord/roommate as I'm moving about 600 yards at the end of month) doesn't want me walking her dogs at night anymore.
She has never walked hers at night and she's terrified of coyotes. Apparently they were out howling a few nights ago and the smaller of the labs (actually probably a lab/pit cross) went off after them and she heard her dog yelp and was terrified for her. She came back and was totally fine but that was the last straw for the night walking.
My dog doesn't seem too interested in them. She chased a lone one once in California but if she hears a pack howling she's not running off in their direction.
I consider the night walks safer because no moose at night and the cars are easier to see coming from a distance. (Plus less of them). Today was a no moose/no Karen/ and about 6 cars day so far.
Free Luckbox’s dog!
If your dog ran out in front of me while I was driving I'd run it over and you'd only have yourself to blame. No way would I rusk injury or crashing due to your irresponsible behaviour. You'd have one splattered mutt.
Ok Google says they are active day and night and especially during the twilight hours and maybe at night more in the summertime when it's too hot during the day for them. So perhaps I'm just running well at night. I also don't walk as far at night so there is that too.
lol
"I was certain the moose would be petrified by the moonlight"
She smelled a coyote from about 60 yards yesterday if a moose was out stomping around in the woods at night she would hear it and smell it. Visuals aren't needed we are talking about dogs with much keener senses than humans have.
Moose are massive creatures and they make a ton of noise walking around.
I met this American girl in Colombia-- and she had been in Ecuador it might behave been Cuenca not sure-- and she told me "where I was if you don't have a dog following you around everywhere you go then you're not from there". That has always stuck with me her comment.Having dogs off leash on rural dirt roads is the norm for most of the world. Because most of you are Americans
If your dog came over to me off its leash and I felt the slightest bit threatened and your state allowed for concealed carry I'd pull out a glock and blow its doggy brains out and you'd only have yourself to blame for your irresponsible behaviour. If I couldn't conceal carry I'd pepper spray it and if I had no pepper spray I'd use a weapon of opportunity like a brick or a tree branch, possibly a shovel. No way am I gonna get injured due to your irresponsibility. You'd have one shot/pepper sprayed/bludgeoned/stomped on pooch, yes sirree.

Ok I would then kill you and not care about the consequences.
Fortunately my dog has enough sense to not approach *******s.
The golden retriever otoh probably would just walk right about to your like the doofus he is.

Lol no you wouldn't you bigass blowhard I'd just shoot you with my glock. In the crotch first just for chuckles and I wouldn't care about the consequences either. And if I couldn't shoot you I'd tell ICE you were an illegal immigrant brandishing a firearm and get them to do it for me. And if I couldn't do that I'd just beat your conspiraloon ass to death in justified self defence. Or else maybe just leave you at death's door so I could testify against you in court and cry on the stand about how threatened I felt and then laugh whenever I heard you got bum rode in Chino or Quentin or wherever it is they'd send people like you. Then I'd send you pictures of your dead mutt and laugh when I heard you got so angry that the hacks beat your ass and sent you to ad seg.
Guys, chill out ffs.

When I lived in Edmonton we saw coyotes all the time. They are super smart and try and get the dogs to chase them and than go after the slowest one. My one pooch got bit twice. Now that were in the Kootenays I have seen one coyote in 3 years. Its the fricking deer you need to be scared of with the dogs. Last spring had to bear spray them 3 times
As well my one Labradoodle can pick up deer or moose tracks and will go after them Two weeks ago chased them across the river. He stays on the leash most of the time
