Claims taking a class that discusses Marxism is a proof that Marxism is a prevalent system today
Marxism doesn't exist today in any material capacity. What ******ed right wingers call marxist isn't marxist. You should know this considering you took a class
Please back up the bolded with quotes or ban yourself for being an utter buffoon.

It's literally like you're just in a whole separate discussion from the one that's actually happening.
It's amazing really.
Well, you have thoroughly thrown this conversation for a loop.
Maybe you should take a break from poker if its ****ing you up so bad that you can't have a straight forward conversation
Just a reminder, I didn't bring up Marxists and their connection to Identity Politics. You did that. Today.

It doesn't matter how the discussion started.
Does Marxism exist in modern times as an influential system of thought in any material capacity?
If your answer is "yes" then you are thoroughly captured with propaganda and objectively wrong
If your answer is "no" then what the **** have you been talking about all morning

Do you know about a country called Venezuela that's been in the news lately?
China is Marxist to the extent that they at some point in history said so - when they weren't nearly as successful.
They are as cap as the next with housing speculators, private ownership of almost everything, wage labor and the same markets we use here - all things Marx would have a fit over. The state just dips their toes in it more than others.
...The US love to portray them as a communist regime for Cold War purposes but they are more similar to us than we think.
The mayor of NYC is a self-proclaimed socialist, I think we’re past saying Marxism is not relevant to modern politics.

All Marxism is Socialism but not all Socialism is Marxism
Marxism is a miniscule sliver of socialism. Marxism only exists today as a bludgeon for the ruling class to justify more for themselves. Everyone knows Marxism is a failure.
What everyone doesn't seem to know is that hybrid forms of Socialism have driven the longest reign of highest life satisfaction in recorded human history. That is why the ultra wealthy have spent unfathomable amounts of money to propagandize Socialism as Marxism. Because they have no interested in satisfied egalitarian societies

If you’re just saying that Marxism-Leninism is irrelevant, I agree. I don’t consider capitalism with state intervention and social safety nets to be socialism. I consider that social democracy, and yes I think it’s very good, probably the best system we have so far.
Was the best system we had but it's dying fast. Capitalism as we knew it will never come back and democracy is very sickly.
As the wealth and ownership gets increasingly concentrated in a few hands while human labour becomes increasingly valueless, marxism is showing signs of life. If we want to retain democracy then we better make an effort.
Marx's main mistake may have been 'too soon'. As the need for human labour goes, it may come into it's own.
(and I do love the idea that marxism is about words. Top notch)

Markets are still a good way of distributing many different resources (though not all), so I don’t expect the market part of capitalism to ever go away, nor the units of currency part.
It’s possible, I suppose, but maybe I’m just too conservative to believe that it will happen until I see an example of such a form of distribution work on a larger scale than a commune.
You should take a look at the role played by Spanish farming co-operatives that account for 70% of the turnover of agricultural production.
And yes, you are too conservative.
Sure, but it's a way of distributing ownership among workers that sets it apart from capitalism.
I’m glad to see you guys are still practicing sustainable recycling with these debates
I have sometimes done things wrong. When I don't do something wrong and then get unfairly treated I speak up. Also, Mods make mistakes. I gave AIM plenty of opportunity to make this right.
I would like P&S mods to follow AIM’s excellent example and contain Mongo here for his conduct and posting in SE.
