President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
There’s good and bad in the pardon power, I agree. In any case, I’m sure there’s a constitutional amendment on the horizon somewhere removing the power from the president.
The issue is not the power to pardon, but rather the individual that the American people entrusted with that power.
Trump is a damaged, disaster of a human being who should never, ever have been trusted with such power. But given that most voting Americans are either idiots (“I didn’t know he’d be so awful!”😉 or *******s (“I’m on board with the awful stuff he’s doing and trying to do.”😉 here we are. And it isn’t going to get better any time soon. Adios, America. I hope pwning the libs was worth it.

Oh please cut the BS the pardon power should be used for folks that received extreme sentences that today seems extreme like the person sitting in jail for 10 years for drug possession. It should not go to some crypto guy that scammed the people for millions nor should it go to your son, brother in law or a judge who puts kids in jail for cash .
The pardon power has been abused by many administrations but your only outraged at Trump.
And lets not be shocked when Trump pardons all the folks around him before he leaves including himself

Not surprisingly, you are yet again incorrect.
I have made no statement that I am outraged at Trump’s use of the pardon power. I know he’ll abuse it, but that’s because of who Trump is, not because of what the power to pardon is.
My outrage is at the idiots and *******s who voted for Trump in 2024.

It's obviously a mix of the two but I'd imagine that its heavily scewed towards the latter. Collectively, libs/lefties do not understand how much the right hates them. They will pawn to a degree well beyond what is happening now. But people dont seem to get that so instead its a Neverending stream of how are these dips hits not realizing what they are voting for.
But then who would pardon the turkey? There probably has to be a power of pardon, and it can't really be vested anywhere but in the president, so you're going to get some dodgy presidential actions. The US is about the earliest modern republic, and the founders were finding their way, and the republic was very much meant as an oligarchy of white Christian Protestant gentlemen of
The most power was concentrated in the states during the articles of confederation, and the executive had no power, but it was a nice bit of pseudo-history fanfiction.

I agree but I just didn’t really feel like arguing about an amendment to the constitution that will never happen.

nor to child trafficking judges like the guy Biden pardoned
The best hope in the short term the USA has is that his senility becomes so obvious it can no longer be papered over
Not sure if serious, but no President would ever been senile enough that the President's party would put country over party. The Democrats "papering over" Biden's cognitive decline instead of speaking out before the primaries is what brought Trump back to power.
The same "papering over" happened with Reagan during his second term.
If I was you I'd be more outraged at the idiots who couldn't come up with an electable candidate to beat Trump. People voted for Trump because the alternative was dog ****.
I mean, all the Dems had to do was stop slaughtering children in Palestine. but they would rather Trump be president than stopping that. totally depraved party.
GENOCIDE!!!!
yougov poll has been posted many times. but you guys dont read.
So a poll that shows 71% of people that voted for Joe Biden in 2020 but didn’t vote for Kamala in 2024 didn’t do it because of Gaza is evidence that most people stayed home because of Gaza?
How do you know that counterfactually if they had gone softer on Hamas that they wouldn’t have had a similar number of people naming that as the reason to stay home?
How do you even know that they were distributed in the right states to make a difference?
What do you make of other polls that shows that as not being a top issue among voters?
It’s obvious cherry picking and selection bias.

The reality is they didn't vote for Kamala I think was the economy and the border. They kept telling Americans the border was secure and the economy is great. Add in the fact that when asked what Kamal would do different than Biden the answer was nothing . I think she woulda won if the campaign was only 3-4 weeks but as it stretched on folks thought not a chance
The reality is Trump will get trashed in the midterms as he keeps telling folks the economy is great and folks no its not
2028 will be interesting

“Look at what you made me do!” is the argument a child makes. Grow up, son.
We all know you’d never let a Black woman tell you what to do anyway, so don’t pretend Harris made you vote for Trump. You voted for Trump because you’re either an idiot or an *******. Or both.
I am looking at what's happening around the world...and I don't believe it would be much better if your jailor was president and it could conceivably be worse.
What fackin garbage is this ?
You telling us today that Americans and the rest of the world wouldn’t be in a better place today with kamala than with trump after 2025 ?
I think it's doubtful that Gaza would be any better today with Kamala sending the weapons and could even be worse.
Also if a peace treaty is signed in Russia/Ukraine it'll be one thing Kamala wouldn't have been interested in. We don't know what would have happened but her starting a direct war with Russia intentionally or not wasn't off the cards.
