Go to your city council and meet your elected official. Observe the same people coming to every meeting and getting others to do the same. Notice the money getting used and how it’s used.

Local politics especially. I canvassed for a special election for an open seat in the state house, and talking to people about what they cared about was wildly different than what you hear about on the national news.
Our candidate won and she invited all of her volunteers to the capitol for her swearing in. It was a great experience.
My city councillor also happens to be my boss at my music job. She’s amazing.
And local elected officials will actually talk to you directly; you have access to them in real time.
Unlike the shitheads in their DC offices letting interns field all their calls. I’ve never once heard back from my congressman despite keeping his contact info in my phone and phoning his office frequently. I called three times last week about SNAP affecting my child’s peers, asking what their plan is for feeding the children, and ****ing nothing. Not an email, nothing. If Kevin Hern ever has no haters then I am ****ing dead.

Not as many as you might imagine. I can bombard you with dozens of such claims from social media, and that will make it seem like a phenomenon, but it isn't actually much of one. I don't know a single person personally who said they would leave the country if Trump were reelected, much less know anyone who actually did so. And I don't know a single person who has said that th
I know one person who left the US because Trump was elected (or at least a significant part of the reason). But she was lucky because her mother was born in France so she speaks the language and has the right to live there.
I wish I could leave the country and move to a more civilized state. But as I have said here several times before, it's not as easy as people think to "love it or leave it". I don't know of any country that would accept me, and it's not because of a criminal record or anything like that. For most countries you need to either have particular skills they want, have a significant guaranteed income, or qualify for refugee status.

Completely agree. I also do local politics. It’s very rewarding and the people who take the time out of their day to do it are amazing. You even meet Republicans and others who are able to come together and get stuff done.
The national and state stuff is important but it does feel daunting and like you can’t have much impact. In local elections a few dozen dedicated people can change the course of their town for the better.

I doubt the NYC mayor swears on the constitution anyway, but they seem not to realize that he won't be sworn in until January. Who gets sworn in the day after the election??

Did you read the article? The lawsuit is alleging deliberate racial discrimination. I dont know about you, but I am pretty confident that suing for racial discrimination isn't an idea that Democrats have never entertained, and I doubt that Republicans are opening a new Pandora's box with the lawsuit.
As an aside, I live in one of the districts being re-districted, which would be the 3rd time in the last couple decades this district has been redistricted. Although it would appear the district I live in is being re-districted to be more red, by absorbing parts of neighboring (current) red districts which are expected to turn blue now.

That's clearly ridiculous though. Every ad and all publicity about the redistricting has stated specifically that it's being done to help the Democratic Party, and the specific reason why.
Of course, I think redistricting to help any party should be illegal, but the Supreme Court has already specifically decided that it is legal to do it for that reason. Just shows how messed up the current SCOTUS is.
I think there needs to be a law that all congressional districting should be done by a process specifically blind to race and party affiliation, or any demographic information.
