President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

I don't think so. He doesn't give a f about whoever is impacted by the shutdown. He wants what he wants and he'll stay in shutdown until he gets it. If people don't give him what he wants, his view is they are the ones that won't give those affected what they want.

by Rococo

It would be more accurate to say that he doesn't give a **** about the people who will be affected.

Here is the reality Trump doen't give a chit so he will let the shutdown drag on. I am sure the Democrats know that as well so they are being irresponsible not voting for a clean CR and restoring SNAP benefits and paying everyone. Than take the GOP up on the fact they will negotiate UCA (Unaffordable Care Act) and if the GOP doesn't and everyone's premiums skyrocket you take that in to the midterms. Though that would require the Dems to run on something other than Trump bad, Trump a Nazi, Trump a fascist, Jan 6th .

It's your fault that I hit you.

Whattabout the time Obama was president and no one lost their SNAP benefits?

What do you mean? In that particular scenario, Republicans in Congress obviously get credit for ensuring that no one lost their SNAP benefits.

I was trying to do a reverse-whatabout post, but I guess it didn't pan out.

Astounding that 1 in 8 Americans need to be saved from hunger.

Trickle down economics.

Astounding that a government “for the people” is willing to let them starve.

Yup, seems there's a way to save 1 in 8 Americans from starving but neither party wants to do it.

Sometimes I wonder if Trump hasn't actually made America great.

Now do healthcare.

They don’t. SNAP benefits don’t save people from hunger, they are a way of supplementing people’s income in a way that feels comfortable to the general public. It allows the government to at least try to make it so that the entitlements are being “spent correctly” and not a “moral hazard”.

I’m not sure if such means testing and targeting is even empirically backed up, or if it’s just political “common sense” that keeps us using this system.

that's crazy talk

But what about the time Biden ended America's 20-year military adventure in Afghanistan, the longest war in US history?

by Trolly McTrollson

But what about the time Biden ended America's 20-year military adventure in Afghanistan, the longest war in US history?

That was a total chit show. And if were complaining about 20 billion to Venezuela which we should also be upset on the billions in equipment left behind that actually ended up with the cartels

How many Afghans dis Biden abandon that we promised US citizenship

None, as far as I know. Pity we don't have leaders like that who end wars and respect refugees in the White House anymore.

by lozen

Jfc. You know the snap contingency fund was mandated by congress for exactly this and trump halting it is nothing but abject cruelty. But he's your guy so anyone ruling against him must be bad

by lozen

20 billion to Venezuela

Why do you keep repeating this? It’s 40billion and it’s Argentina. Venezuela is where Trump wants to declare war because of drugs or something.
