President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Conservatives should want there to be nobody home at the top of the fed govt.

Hmmm, haven't thought of it like that but it makes sense.

I'm curious as to what transpires when Trump departs the scene.

He's the alpha white supremacist right-wing fascist bully who derives his power from his political attractiveness to voters who want an alpha white supremacist right-wing fascist bully.

He got a higher % of the black vote than any Repub presidential hopefully in almost 50 years. Are you suggesting black voters are stupid or do you believe they are white supremacists as well?

Like a biden 2.0? Do dems believe trump's current mental state is worse than biden's when biden took office?

Im not a dem (not an American), and I think Trump is way more mentally declined than Biden when Biden took office.

I think he's also incredibly stupid by normal metrics. His brain was good at the grift, and that's all it was good at.

How Trump (or rather his handlers) is getting away with turning America into a fascist shithole is beyond me. I remain shocked how little pushback Americans are giving to this nazification process.

He has had 2 assisnation attempts on him and one of his most popular supporters was murdered a month ago....

I remain shocked there are still people like you spouting nonsense daily, admittedly there are way less then there used to be.

It’s a combination of things. Off the top of my head,

Most positions of power that could possibly check him are filled with inexperienced yes men. They learned this lesson during the first term. Anyone with a spine was immediately sacked. The courts have been systematically filled with sycophant conservative judges for the past 40 years. American news media is wholly owned by a few conservative oligarchs.

Exercising the right to protest isn’t very ingrained in modern Americans. Geographically, the US is massive compared to the population, making the ability to form effective protests difficult. American working conditions have been steadily eroded for decades, further exacerbating the ability to effectively protest.

Edit: The right’s crusade on education has been relatively successful. Combined with control of news and social media outlets, it’s a brutal uphill battle to encourage any sort of intelligence movement.

There’s plenty more, but I’m just rattling these off during my lunch break. Ultimately, there’s very little the 99% can do to hold the 1% accountable. The elites are very good at turning the masses against each other.

shoo fascist

Something that I think is overlooked, is how much Trump’s presidency has exposed the fact that a significant amount of government authority and function has traditionally been based solely on precedence and decorum.

The moment a demagogue like Trump decided “so what, I’m doing what I want,” we have realized there is shockingly few codified measures/agencies to actually uphold the level of of formality and decorum the US government has been operating on for the past century.

If the midterms do go ahead and the tide turns and Congress do what they should to remove the cockwomble, I'm hoping to see Hegseth, Bondi and Patel get 8-15 somewhere. I suspect Trump and RFK will have degenerated too much to get prison by the time we get to that.

What would you charge them with?

No the African American population figured out at least more of them the Dems took their vote for granted and did nothing for them .

by lozen

What would you charge them with?

Hegseth, whatever charges represent treason against the Constitution. If nothing else, breaches of security that threaten the US.

Bondi and Patel, for hiding/destroying evidence of rape and pedophilia, and again, treason.

I am assuming your referring to the Epstein File for Bondi and Patel? If so than wouldn't Biden and Garland be guilty of the same charges .

Also what part of the constitution did the head of Department of War break ?

Maybe, but Biden will be dead soon, and if Garland hid anything, sure. It's clear from the complete avoidance of answering any questions whatsoever that Patel and Bondi have seen things, and it's going to be pretty easy to prove they knew things and kept them quiet, when the investigations start. I suspect Patel didn't know before he became head of FBI and then **** a brick when he found out, and realises he has to keep hold of the tiger's tail. I am guessing Bondi has known A LOT from way back, but then found out even worse stuff, and is similarly scared to let go of the same tail.

Don't know the specifics, but attempting to politicise the military must be a criminal act in America, surely? But glad you seem to agree he should be suitably charged over security breaches.

Sure, throw them in prison too. This isn't hard. Who ever took part in hiding evidence of rape and pedophilia should be locked up.

Hegseth may have broken the law when he decided to share war plans using civilian apps. I'm sure a good lawyer could see him locked up for that. If not, lock him up for being every bit as incompetent as most people knew he would be.

‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat
Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

I would be interested in hearing a few examples of how trump is "turning america into a fascist shithole" or the "naziification process".

The right controls the news and social media?

Besides fox which major channels do you think lean right?

You do remember all social media companies were ok deleting posts and banning people for saying true things about hunters laptop and about covid to help Dems, right? Trump was banned from some social media sites.

I am literally shocked anyone who pays attention to politics can think the news OR social media favors repubs. It is just such a bizarre idea that someone can truly believe that.

by Montrealcorp

Republican of any Colour are famous to votes against their self interest for decades shrug .

Maybe you should re-read my question. I said he had more of the black vote than any other repub for almost 50 years. That means he got black people to vote for him that rarely, if ever, have voted repub. Are you trying to suggest that some of these black people who have never voted repub are really closeted repubs?

Wow, they seem to be throttling the news in the US, if you have to ask this. What is totally obvious from the outside is clearly not coming through on mainstream news on the inside.

However, let me elucidate. These are signs of fascism:

- Challenging election results with no evidence (reminder: Trump was talking up election fraud, without evidence, long before the 2020 election)
- undermining the rule of law (eg ignoring court directives)
- Using government agencies for political ends (Comey etc etc0
- demonisation of opponents (declaring anyone anti-fascist as a terrorist)
- scapegoating/dehumanising of sections of society
- build a national police that do not answer to courts in the usual way (ie ICE)
- Consolidation power to presidential branch, bypassing/ignoring congress and judiciary
- taking direct control of previously independent federal agencies
- valuing loyalty over ability or experience (or even basic competence) in most senior appointments
- trying to weed out anyone not clearly a Trump supporter out of higher echelons of military
- normalising applying zip-ties to children that are brown
- intimidation of the media
- trying to provoke civil unrest to provide excuse for more Draconian powers (have you seen Revenge of the Sith?)

I have probably missed quite a few more elements, but that'll do for now.

Now, I know you know this really, and probably like being on the right side of the fascism, but it's nice to get my own thoughts straight on this.

I also use 'nazification' because of the clear racial element that ICE are operating under, when it comes to skin colour. There are many cases of being way over the line with brown-coloured US citizens who seem to get no opportunity whatsoever to prove they are citizens before they are zip-tied and dragged away.

This has always been the one that baffles me about Americans.

Republicans are the PRIMARY big money / corporate receivers of money. Not even counting all the dark money. They are called the party of big business, literally.

Yet somehow you think corporate news media mainly leans left? I mean even when war is happening, MSNBC for example, is owned by the same people who sell bombs to the pentagon, and they cheer this sht on.

A serious, serious lack of critical thinking by Americans in general. You talk to most Europeans, and they get it and just laugh at sht like this.

Dude... your country is run by oligarchs who are mostly to the right.... and hence, so will your media.

Jezus.

Troops in our cities to quell "the enemy within"
Weaponizing the justice department
Constant attacks on the press
Total disregard of our constitution

There's more but you'll never see past the black shoe polish all over your face.
