The Khoisan tribespeople of today still live much as their ancestors did—they are hunter-gathers who are also pastoralists—they are most familiar to westerners as the people who speak with distinctive clicking noises. Until now, they were believed to have the purest African gene pool due to their thousands of years of isolationist practices.
The team acquired DNA samples from 32 people living in Khoisan tribes in southern Africa—an analysis revealed Eurasian gene segments in all of them. But that wasn't the end of the story. To understand how the gene fragments got into the Khoisan tribespeople, the researchers turned to archeological and linguistic evidence to build a possible time-line of events. In so doing, they've found what they believe to have been a migration back into Africa by people of the Middle East (ancestors of the people that migrated to Europe and Asia) approximately 3000 years ago. Those people made their way to various parts of the continent, including a part of eastern Africa from which the Khoisan tribespeople had migrated south approximately 900 and 1800 years ago.
The researchers found something else—the Khoisan tribespeople also had snippets of Neanderthal DNA in their genes as well—courtesy of their Eurasian heritage.

My understanding is that when you compare two individuals and two species, the amount of sites you are comparing are not the same. You would be considering all of the nucleotide sites between individuals and only some portion that every member of the species shares between species.

I would like to clarify from personal experience that at least in the People's Republic of California buying a house in a "good school" neighborhood, you are paying much more than a $200k premium. Probably closer to $1M.

FWIW I would guesstimate the demographics of my neighborhood are something like 40% Hispanic/40% white/ 20% Asian. In California at least, the "gentrified white liberal" neighborhoods are actually not particularly white at all.

This latest ICE facility shooting - The shooter has anti-ICE messaging on his bullet casings - how quaint, this is quite the fad, but he only shoots and kills detainees. Not one single ICE agent shot or law enforcement shot.
The shooter is a 29 y/o white male, who seems to live w/ his parents and by all accounts is likely an incell.
And the administration is calling this a liberal shooting.

Born and raised in LA, and if you know how to meet people, and you like taking advantage of everything LA has, it's amazing. No place like it... I've met so many interesting people, and had so many amazing experiences in LA over my lifetime. Only other place similar is NY. But still... not as cool.

Having just spent the last 17 or so months in San Diego county I can say that it's without a doubt the nicest part of the US that I've ever lived.
Traffic in LA is horrible though and living there and dealing with that doesn't seem fun at all.
La Jolla is an absolute gem. Monterrey, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, all the national parks, nor cal redwoods, etc.

I fkn hate traffic too. I've done everything in my life to have short or no commutes.
When you live in LA, you learn how to get around though. You know when to go somewhere, when not to, etc... but best of all you make local friends that you can walk to places with, because there's a lot to do in walking distance when you're in the right areas.
I don't live in LA anymore. I moved to a beach city in the OC. I've also lived in SD as well (Del mar).
