I spent 2 mins and one website so I'm probably way off but there seems to be a consistency where these shooters have a diarrhea mix of random political takes that is at the mercy of whatever their feed sends them. Looks like a social media problem.

I suspect that this is correct and it is ultimately a fools errand trying to fit the politics of terminally online GenZers who live on Discord, 4chan, Reddit, etc. into a left/right box.

Looks like I owe Coordi an apology for saying Groypers would have no bone to pick against Kirk. I catch the occasional Fuentes video and get the gist of his act. But I dont follow him all that closely and didn't realize just how much of a hard-on he had for Kirk. Here is a short clip of Fuentes saying that Kirk is a paid agent of Israel, a fake Christian, and "has to go."

So clearly someone who consumes Fuentes, either directly or indirectly, and aligns with him probably would be VERY negatively disposed towards Kirk.

When we're talking about 1 out of every 10M of the electorate committing political violence of this degree, I don't think we can conclude much political affiliation wise. Instead, when we look at people who effectively sacrifice their life and kill people, his psyche profile seems more in line with a school shooter than a particular grievance against a particular person.

I disagree. If I know how someone feels about Immigration or Israel/Palestine, it's fairly trivial to predict the rest of their political views with a high degree of accuracy. Moreover, I think this is particularly true of young people exposed to social media algorithms that are even better at predicting the kind of content people will consume.

If it turns out his motive was not left-wing at all, it would be really crazy for people to have been blaming this on the left and basically stoking the flames online. Donald Trump basically came out and said he was going to use this shooting as justification to investigate left-wing organizations, which seems odd because there was never any connection to any left-wing group at all.

And what seems to be the case here (unless more details come out) is that although he was clearly politically aware, he didn’t seem to be involved with any political movement whatsoever. No party reservation, withdrawn, and not associated with any political group or nonprofit.

If this theory is true, then his only political involvement would have been with some kind of online community. He clearly knew who Kirk was if he talked about him with his relative. Unfortunately the article doesn’t go into details on his disagreement with Kirk so until we find that out it’s just speculation.

I am just perplexed as to why he turned himself in and announced that he dumped his gun to his roommate. Did he just not think about what would happen when he got caught? He planned enough to be able to make it up to the roof and escape relatively quickly, but he doesn’t think of what would actually happen when he left?

Given he had no suicidal tendencies (that we know of), it's fairly normal i suppose that he planned an escape from the location of the assassination. It might be normal as well that he had no plan after that, after all it's a very irrational action to begin with, so outside of very basic survival instincts to flee, he might have been totally lost immediatly after the act.

But anyway the overarching point is that this kind of person would have been superlow in the ranking of potential assassins for i guess kinda everyone. If you have his profile among say 1000 he wouldn't come in the first half of "most plausible assassins".

Btw discord itself said they have no elements associated with him that could have given clues even to people reading what he wrote on discord from what i read. He wasn't even radicalized there in some sense, or at least he wasn't participating in any particularly "heavy conversation" there.
