Aiming down the bore from 200 yards a typical 30 cal will drop a foot or so. Assuming he wasn't aiming for the neck, he missed either the head or heart by 4-6 inches. Probably not a pro mistake. Why are we looking at bare violence and not shooting? That sounds like a motivated sampling space. Although many of the protests went beyond what I would deem reasonable, they don’t fit into the fact pattern at all. We’re looking at a lone shooter, which is atypical of the type of violence you’re trying to use to intuition pump.
I don’t mind making exclusions and inclusions that make sense, but we have to put in good data to get out good outputs.

This is a great point. What Charlie should've done was just spouted left talking points everywhere he went. He'd be safe and sound. Instead, like a showboat, he spoke his own opinion, which were conservative points, and we can't have that for god's sake. I mean, at the least if some right-wing pundit speaks somewhere, you can expect shouting and name-calling at first, then some sort of minor violence, that's what you do when you're in the presence of fascist crypto-nazi racist homophobes like Charlie Kirk right? Whenever any black person achieves any visible promotion he just asserts, with zero evidence, that is was due to affirmative action. Overall he behaves in way one might calculate to behave if one were a deeply racist white supremacist but wanted to preserve your ability for influence by talking from the edge of social acceptability instead of where you really live, well beyond it.
I left the left. While I interact with plenty of D-voters, once I see a few of the diagnostic criteria for neomarxism, I withdraw all contact.

There was a marked emboldening and energizing of the BLM-driven racialist left starting around 2014 with Michael Brown. You can see how it percolated up the social ladder into all kinds of keywords on n-gram, race, systemic racism, Nazi etc, which exploded in use despite no objective measures supporting any increase in those things themselves.
This roughly corresponded with the advent of deplatforming, including shouting down many almost exclusively conservative speakers on college campuses, which became very common and nearly entirely one sided. These phenomena represented a qualitative shift that simply wasn't meaningfully present prior to the BLM era. So heavily restricting the data set to reflect that new baseline would be appropriate imo.
Regardless, you make a good point that the President should have waited to make confident pronouncements about the shooter's motives or political affiliations before having concrete facts.
