Other than to reinforce your own biases, I see no reason to blame the "gun lobby" for government methodology, when clearly it is the government itself that should be blamed. That being said, even if there was a good faith effort on the federal side to collect data (there isn't), the states and local governments also obfuscate data towards their own ends.

I think it is safe to say that government at all levels obfuscates data for a variety of reasons. Making things extremely noisy. And we should be careful trying to interpret any data but the most robust (for example, males committing most violence).

Crossnerd's misandric silliness notwithstanding, it would be virtually impossible for this to happen for psychological reasons. Biological sex is not a category that humans are psychologically hardwired to form competing "identity tribes" to fight over resources.

Indeed, for most of human history following a tribal conquest the men of the losing tribe would be killed, enslaved, driven out etc. and the women would become mates of the conquering force; with little friction. And this is a fairly consistent pattern among social mammals.

That’s certainly one theory of what life was like in prehistoric times (which is the bulk of “human history”), but I’m not aware of any consensus on that.

I also think that you’re just wrong that men and women aren’t prone to fight over resources or form distinct and opposing cultural identities. It’s just that men have been so good throughout history of winning that war and dictating terms upon women without much ability for recourse from women.
