I decided to do some crosschecking between niche.com school district ratings with ballotpedia.org voting districts and was able to confirm that you are talking out your ass

Milwaukee hands out the most vouchers by total and percentage of any other district in the state.

It's been a bastion for socialists and turbo-lefties for more than a century, with the last republican to hold major office having done so in 1906. What did you find that led you to conclude I'm full of ****?

It's the year of Our Lord 2025 and Ins0 is still mad about school integration and school bussing.

Of the top 12 school districts in the state, its 7-5 blue districts vs red and none of the red districts are rural, just typical white flight suburbia that is overwhelmingly benefiting from liberal policies

Inso is not a liberal - supposedly or any other way.

That's not Inso0. Inso0 is a conservative who finally got tired of Trump.

by Inso0

It's never that simple.

It's the red districts in my blue state that have the good school districts. The bluest blue districts are FUBAR and really just exist as a holding pen until we can shuttle all these kids off to prison and/or a life of government cheese when they turn 18.

Yes, I'm sure that's how you feel. Let's see the data that supports that. And let's see the comparison to similar sized schools from red states vs. blue states.

by Inso0

What were once solid red districts with excellent scores are slowly having more blues bused in and get worse every year. Violence and disobedience is on the rise and these suburban schools are struggling to figure out how to solve it.

What exactly does "more blues bused in" mean?

lol

by Inso0

He didn't say poor, he said red.

I wouldn't have responded at all if he'd just said poor instead of turning it into red v blue. The more time we waste on red v blue, the worse it gets.

If we want to fix American education, you need to realign our values. Caring about learning isn't a red v blue problem.

There's a correleation between red and poor. Red states do not value education. Period.

I believe he has claimed to have been a Bernie bro

I don't think so, but maybe I am misremembering.

I just checked. Inso0 said that he voted for Bernie in a primary. I didn't feel like spending enough time to see if he explained his rationale for doing so.

I see your list, and assume you're just going off the state assembly map for deciding on political affiliation, but without boring you with local details, I'd caution you against reading too much into it.

Elmbrook is #1 and you can't shake a dead cat without hitting a MAGA sign in much of Elm Grove and Brookfield, but there was a controversial redistricting recently which led it to picking up a ton of what people would really just consider Milwaukee-lite, and those voters aren't using Elmbrook schools.

Mequon Thiensville is largely Trump Country as well, but District 13 is carried by the people of Whitefish Bay, also on the list. "Whitefolks Bay" is exclusively rich white people and strong Dem voters, but was in the news somewhat recently when a resident shot a gun at a black kid who crossed the municipal border to come Trick or Treating. They're very keen on helping the poors, as long as they stay on their side of the tracks and out of sight, and if that help comes in the form of strongly-worded rants on Facebook or wherever they hang out. Notably, Whitefish Bay has zero (0) new slots for non-resident students for the upcoming school year.

We have some rental properties in Shorewood and without risking a temp ban, I'll just say that I don't think it's going to stay on that top 12 list for too much longer. Those residents are fleeing north and west in droves.

If suburbia is benefiting from liberal policies, then maybe the liberals should refocus their efforts on the people they claim to be in most support of. Because those people are on the strugglebus, and that strugglebus is taking them outside their own school district to ruin it for everyone else.

I cast more votes in Presidential Elections for Bernie (2) than I have for Trump (1), and would not be at all upset if Bernie had won, but I don't think I'd be allowed to fully speak my mind at a typical Bernie Bro rally.

I'm not a liberal, but I do play one on TV.

I soft-support things like universal healthcare and abortion, but there are asterisks.

Yeah, idk. I don't think a conservative voting for Bernie over an establishment hawk like Hillary makes them a liberal. I could be wrong but I think you had a lot of people like that who would do the same (rogan types and such) I would welcome Bernie with open arms over both Hillary and Kamala.

by biggerboat

Hawley is horrible, but this is a good thing. Of course, the republicans want an exception for trump, and are opposed to it in general.

https://apnews.com/article/trump-hawley-...

Can even Trump supporters not see that an exemption for him would be completely ridiculous? If he has nothing to hide, he shouldn't mind being included.

by lozen

I think its fair to say the whole education system in the USA sucks unless you have the cash for private schools.

Yes, it is fair to say that.

But the reason it sucks is because individual states, countries, and even smaller school districts, rely on local funding and can make their own local rules.

I would say that what isn't needed is all the state and country department of education employees, school boards, etc.

Do you really have to ask? Of all the things they don't care about, this is pretty minor.

If we want to fix American education, you need to realign our values. Caring about learning isn't a red v blue problem.

When 2/3 of Oklahoma high schools don't offer calculus and the state is using their meager funds to fight court cases to mandate displaying the 10 commandments, caring about learning is clearly a red/blue problem. Obviously rural culture and values are a big part of the reason why their educational results are so poor.

The Oklahoma SI is trying to force teaching the bible and that the 2020 election was stolen. Conservatives all over the country are banning books from schools. It's most DEFINITELY a red vs blue issue.

American culture the last 150 years hasn't been about aligning of values, its been about endless expansionism through immigration integration and the friction this causes being the energy that motivates people to succeed.

There has been a rapid shift towards more nihilistic world views as we reach a decade of endless pathological bombardment mixed with a slowly dimming reality.

A recent study estimated that ~50% of all internet activity is targeted bot slop and I see this as the intentional inshitification of the worlds greatest invention that was starting to put people on equal footing on a global scale

The 10 commandments crowd isn’t very knowledgeable about how things actually were in the past.

« And their economic results » are so poor .
Once they understand that correlation, things will start to change shrug .

You guys laugh, but China definitely isn't going to beat the US in the global competition for Bible studies.

It's obviously intentional, but I don't think maintaining (or reducing) global inequality is a primary goal of the intentional activity.

I couldn't easily find statewide stats, as most of the articles that popped up on the first 2 pages of Google focused on Tulsa, which is the largest district.

It did also inform me that Tulsa was excited to elect their first black Mayor recently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_Nic...

Get your **** together, Monroe. Put the fear of God in any citizen who doesn't make education their #1 priority for their children.

Like MPS, their absenteeism rate is very high. I won't pretend to be informed about who, specifically, is pushing for religion in the schools of Oklahoma, but I'll go out on a limb and say the people in question probably live in districts without such poor overall educational outcomes, skewing their perspective. We have that around here as well. Arrowhead district loves making fusses about things that shouldn't be in the top 30 list of concerns for most other districts in the state, because they've got the actual education part sorted out already.

What irks me is that you guys focus on something so innocuous as a fight about a statue depicting the ten commandments as if the schools are replacing science class with Christian bible study.

America does that constantly. We're always happy to fight about **** that doesn't matter if it means we can avoid the giant elephant in the room, which in this case is that entire generations of kids are be shuttled through our school system without learning a goddamned thing because demanding excellence and holding people accountable leads to uncomfortable conversations.
