President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

No.

You need pads and helmets.

.

And you need to be okay with high levels of injury risk just for playing a recreational game. Most sports, like soccer or tennis, are net positives for your health. There is some injury risk, but the exercise and activity that's guaranteed makes it a pretty healthy hobby. As a recreational sport though, American football is like skateboarding in city traffic. It's likely to do you more harm than good.

You should watch rugby .

I have.

As an aside, are the best rugby players in the world, "the scrum of the earth?"

Yeah, but those jumps are going to snap her wrists one day. Bear crawling the length of the court and crab crawling back ten times great workout though.

When I was young, I played plenty of football without any of that.

Smear the whatever ftw

Smear the whatever ftw

The name aside, that was a fun game.

I don't follow political social media, but i can only imagine that right wing derps are pointing to yesterday's mass shootings in midtown as evidence that law and order has disintegrated in NYC.

Never mind that the guy obtained a gun out of state, and drove all the way across the country to do a shooting, apparently because the NFL has offices in midtown.

It's undeniably bizarre that someone was allowed to walk around midtown with an M4 and nobody stopped to check on him, but I actually think the crowd you're looking for is going to spend more mental energy talking about the NFL angle than the law and order angle.

This person was unhinged, and probably didn't even have the CTE he was allegedly there to bring awareness to.

Isn't that perfectly acceptable now?

Maybe? It's NYC so I'm skeptical.

I know "Open Carry" was a trendy workaround to trigger the libs for a while, but I sure as **** would call 911 immediately, and most of the YouTubes I've seen on the topic are body cams of cops having conversations with these weirdos about how weird it is to walk around town with a long rifle, even if it's legal to do so.

lol, yeah, when I see a dude carrying an assault rifle around town I'm def going to check in on him instead of hauling my ass as far away as I can.

As far as I know, this isn't what happened. I'm sure he just parked illegally in front of the building and walked straight in. He probably was "walking around" for less than 10 seconds.

There's gotta be a couple cops per city block in Manhattan at any given moment... You're never more than 18 seconds away from someone with a badge and I'm sure it took him longer than than to make his way to the building.

Though, it's possible he dropped his ladder and clipboard just outside frame in the video that we have. That may explain people not having paid any attention to him.

Edit: Slow ponied by Rococo. Makes sense.

Police Commissioner Tisch said surveillance video showed the man exiting a BMW just before 6:30pm carrying an M4 rifle, then marching across a public plaza into the building.

This makes it sound like he only walked a block or two at most to get there.

If you want assault rifles to be legal in America, this is the kind of thing you're going to have to expect because even NYC isn't ever going to have trigger-happy cops on every single block

I think it would be trivially easy in any city in the United States to do what this guy did. There are a lot of people in midtown Manhattan at 6:30 p.m., but it isn't Shabuya Crossing. Just wait a minute or two until the coast was relatively clear and then walk 20 yards into a building lobby. And even if there was a patrol car going by on the other side of the street, there is an excellent chance that you wouldn't be noticed if you were just walking normally.

Far less than one block. There is a small plaza in front of this building. I've walked past it dozens of times.
