Lol! I'm wondering what video RR saw? ETA: I heard Hulk Hogan recently left the wrestling?
But it's not just me right, the YouTube tags are ****ed? IIRC, you could just put the "v=videoname" info inbetween the tags (could never remember if the "v=" part was needed) but now it seems you need the whole html and all it does is **** up.

That’s our tariff against you buddy/guy/friend

You would only put the red part between the youtube tags.
Glad to hear you’re doing well buddy, but how dare you opt for “real life” over the interwebs. I will not be inviting you to my next virtual bbq in the metaverse.

(this was fr the funniest thing I’ve read in a while, your kids are very lucky)
and thanks a lot, hope you’re doing well too
gambling at the stakes you play must be one of the most stressful ways to spend your free time, kudos to you for having been able to use it as a vehicle for self improvement personal growth and recreation all these years instead of letting it consume you!
Are those women typical in the chess community? You may be on to something
Good to see you active again, RTP.
I’m not sure outside of LA, I try to live under a rock hard to protect your peace and lick in if you spend too much time around women (or people)
would much prefer to be married than engaging in small talk getting to that age
certainly not pre pandemic but chess has boomed a lot since with the show queens gambit (on Netflix) and various other avenues like twitch
I achieved my national chess master title in high school so was a bit ahead of the curve and girls seem to think it’s cool if they find out as it’s quite rare
Mclovin also an NM he’s much smarter than me
btw carry on please if you all wish don’t want to derail just received a lot of messages and wanted to express my gratitude etc

Thanks for the compliments.
The secret to not letting it consume you is what squid and others have preached. Don’t play professionally. When its recreational you have an easier choice to take extended breaks whenever it makes the most sense: bored, playing bad / losing too much, games are bad, etc
I took my daughter to six flags yesterday. I might need to play again and recoup my hourly loss.

Yeah hold the phone. Pretty lady playing chess is likely AI.
Thanks man hope everything is good with you, you’re a warrior and so refreshingly self aware and authentic
Glad to hear from you, don't make us worry that long.

I hope he’s alright with me sharing this, but Squid told me something back in 2020 that stuck with me: people who find real success in poker often have a throughline of qualities—discipline, intuition, resilience—that would make them just as successful in many other fields.
And truthfully, a lot of people with the mindset and work ethic to thrive long-term in this game could probably achieve more elsewhere.
But sometimes, it’s not just about the reward—it’s about the fit.
At this point, I feel mentally sharp, with minimal responsibilities and the kind of experience that’s hard to replicate. Being here, now, with the flexibility to go all in on something I’ve built over time—it feels like the right move.
There are no guaranteed paths forward.
But for me - the cost of starting over would be higher than continuing on the one I’m already walking.
And you’re absolutely right about not letting it consume you—that’s one of the hardest parts for professionals. I’m glad you’ve found a rhythm that allows for space and balance.
That’s rare.

Absolutely, if you take the same energy and commitment it takes to become a pro poker player or a pro chess player, you realize that if you were in another field of lets say football, you'd be a multimillionaire quicker and 'easier'
glad things are going well rtp
meanwhile back at the family compound in maine which means lots of weed and drinking with my siblings and cousins and the mandatory boats and beaches

Does this mean that you are still heavily invested in the poker pro career path? If so, what are the current games that you are playing? And what are your near term poker goals?
I got a thread that should answer those questions don’t really want to derail this one
How do you derail a Chat Thread? Talk strat?
Happy to see RTP and BMF reappearing ITT.
Just so the little green men / mods are aware, the YouTube tags in 2+2 are hooped.
Slim will have to confirm exactly what song he posted in post#49186, but:
I saw: Teenage Fanclub "What You Do To Me" (which make sense given our conversation)
Mark saw: Jeff Healy "Confidence Man"
AcesCracked saw: Matchbox Twenty / Rob Thomas
RR saw: ??
And in RR's quote of Slim's OP, as well as Marks quote of RR's quote, I see: The Raveonettes
I also noticed this when I recently posted a video in the music thread, where even I would see a different video of what I posted depending on whether I was viewing on my work computer versus my at home lurking device (and it was also clear due to responses that no one was seeing the same video).
