Jordan had an ugly wife. Federer has an ugly wife. Brady's wife looked like a man with a wig. LeBron Jame's wife and Kobe's wife are a 5 at best. Steph Curry's wife has a permanent resting bitchface. See a pattern here? You can't be the goat or goatish with a hot wife. It would be too distracting. Gotta have 110% focus. Shai's future is very bright.

Tiger Woods though?

Tiger Woods though?

True but there's definitely a correlation. That's all I'm saying.

I'm just saying his gf is a 6/10 at best.

by ILOVEPOKER929

Thanks for this.
Great way to start the day and NBA Offseason!

Tiger Woods though?

How'd that work out for him though?

by Carnivore

How'd that work out for him though?

Worth it overall I’d say.

Kobe’s wife is hot, wtf.

Brady dated models and actresses after he got big.

Curry’s wife is solid.

Some high standards in here.

I'm too old school to ever support this take.

I assume that it's a question of degree. We can't know the true odds that Haliburton would tear his Achilles by playing in game 7, but I assume that we all would agree that he should have been allowed to play if the true odds were 1%, and that he should not have been allowed to play if the true odds were 99%.

Taking Haliburton's interest and organization's interest into account, and taking into account the likelihood that Haliburton playing some or all of the game would be the deciding factor in whether the Pacers won, what true odds of an Achilles tear should the Pacers have been willing to tolerate?

I think specifically game 7 of the finals is such a unique spot that if the odds are not 100% guaranteed tear, he should play. This could be the only chance they ever have to ship. They were basically drawing dead once Haliburton left the game, even with them hanging tough for the rest of the first half.

I'd be willing to listen to weighted odds arguments for basically any other playoff game, even in something as high leverage as a game 6 clincher/elimination spot.

The problem with that logic is that if the chances of a tear are high enough, then the chances that he doesn't play enough of the game to matter (which is more or less what happened) go up enormously as well.

I’d say the main problem is that it’s impossible to put a percentage on that with any measurable accuracy. At least as far as I know.

It’s not like we have a giant database of people with calf injuries/their severity/ if they tore their Achilles.

It seems bad now cause it just happened to Lillaird and Tatum, and there was the Durant thing awhile back. But no way of knowing how many guys suit it up all the time with something like what Halliburton had and came through fine. He just made it through Game 6 and had three days off, and looked like he was better for the first few minutes before it happened.

Sure, last night was worst case scenario. I guess my point is, in that spot, you just have to take the risk, regardless. I'm also assuming Tyrese will make a full recovery in the long run, given his age and current medicine.

This team already ran so good to even make it to this spot, that as long as Tyrese feels fine enough to start the game, you just have to roll with it. Championships are a once in a lifetime opportunity for the vast majority of players across all sports. Tyrese could have sat, have 100% health the rest of his career, and still possibly not come close that moment again.

Yup, that's also the other problem. The doctor could have said 75/25% catastrophe, but even that is only going to be an educated guess.

If he had sat out G7 of the finals every single person including this forum would be trashing him. Lose-lose.

I never expected to Haliburton to choose to sit. That's an unrealistic expectation under the circumstances. If you are the Pacers, and you believe the risk is too high, you pretty much have to take the bullet and tell the media that Haliburton wanted to play but the organization refused to allow him to do so.

Oh I agree. This is purely a hypothetical exercise. I assume that they could have done a 100 MRIs and still not really been confident assessing the actual risk.

This is the problem with calf injuries. It seems like you can still be relatively effective even if you are putting your Achilles at significant risk.

Questions about whether you should play through something like a hamstring injury seem to take care of themselves because your ability to play effectively is more inversely correlated with the risk of catatstrophic injury.

The best analogy would be a star baseball pitcher who knows in advance of a game 7 that he has UCL damage but not a complete tear. He might be able to pitch effectively until the moment it pops, and assessing the risk of it popping is difficult.

it's nitpicking. and there were guys at the scorer's table. but more than six straight minutes is a lot for his situation. but he also made three threes and was on course to have a legendary game.

LOL at Hartenstein's kid. Kids can sleep through anything.

Did anyone else notice SGA motion to Hartenstein to keep his hand behind the kid's head to keep it from flopping over? That's a good dude.

Probably speaks more to the injuries to Tatum and Hali though.
