Tom Dwan - the missing man

How convenient is it that he just falls off the face of the earth after issuing and bailing half way through a 50k hand

I have a friend who has been abusing adderall. Same type of thing. Thinks people are watching them and says crazy stuff. Never done adderall myself but does the psychosis go away if you abatain or is it permanent?

drugs and alcohol don't cause this stuff but do tend to pull it out of the subconscious thoughts into the active actions and statements

nobody who ever experiences psychosis should ever partake in those

I saw Tom Dwan take money out of a homeless man's cup one time and when I yelled, "Hey! You can't steal from homeless people!" he did a really bad moonwalk and tripped over the curb into the street and almost got hit by a car.

Live interview going now

Someone pls type up a thorough set of cliff notes k thx

He only really talks about it for the first bit
He wasn't aware who the Poker News guy was at first, thought he was a DR, told him he didn't wanna meet him. Changed mind, took forever, so they had 15 min before the reporter said he had to go because his parking was up... Tom said you're dumb, I'll buy you a car, stay. He said he'd be right back, he never returned.
"So if that guy gets S--- for being a S-Head, I don't mind

The reporter told a "version of events that the doctors would've wanted"

The doctors were bad, they didn't know the laws... Tom told them the laws, they didn't care.

He was "Processing some elements of reality wrong", so he was having an "acute psychotic episode" which he admits he may have a predisposition to, or it's from substances.

... Then he speculates that he wasn't willingly on substances, but basically who knows. He talks about the plane, and how the flight attendant wasn't tracking his drinks correctly right before he "got jumped", and there some "weird details"

Then they talk about BTC and who knows

i tuned into the first minute but it's either terrible editing where they began the feed mid interview or he's just jumping right out of the gates demonstrating classic psychosis traits of not requiring prompts to go off on very specific and unrelated tangents all while exhibiting classic case of pressured speech

doesn't look good, hope he gets better

if people who've videotaped porno cant make moral judgements, can people who've watched porn still make moral moral judgements?

because if not then /end thread

I cut porn a long time ago, but still it annoys me that this argument is seen all over the place in various forms. For instance "so you criticize OF women, well who buys from OF - MEN?! Checkmate!" and its really a terrible argument.

Porn consumption is an addiction. Porn hijacks your dopamine receptors and tricks you into consuming something that is harmful to you.

To equate the creator and the consumer of something like porn is like saying "the druggies who have thrown their lives away chasing highs are just as much to blame for the opiod crisis as Purdue" or "Well Nestle might be terrible company but who consumes chocolate??? You! So you have no right to criticize them!".

This is a completely deluded statement. If you are held by doctors in a mental ward in the UK, Im fairly certain they followed protocol. Holding a foreign national, especially someone from the US, they would probably be even more concerned about doing it by the book than normal. Lold at the idea of Dwan sitting there trying to lecture them on British health care laws.

And what, exactly, qualified him to be considered an β€˜expert’ in chemistry? Did the YouTube video you watch bother to give his CV, or did they just have β€˜Expert in Chemistry’ on a banner underneath him?

That is how it works for these types. You are an expert at something simply because they say something you like, its that easy.

He, with 1 other mainly, is one of the main experts on online poker for instance. Even though they could never beat microstakes. But they say they are experts, and therefore, they are. No CV or qualifications required whatsoever, just a story they like to hear.

Yes, a lot of things in life that give people pleasure also can become addictions and very negative things. Whether its sex, porn, alcohol but also our game... poker.
Is pokerstars (or any other oom) evil because some people cannot handle their gambling?
Is a wine producer evil because some people cant handle their alcohol?

I dont judge those who make porn and those who watch it, to each their own.
But in a society you will always have temptations and even though SOME companies are purposefully setting out addictions (purdue qualifies imo) there is always a component of own responsibility.

And you are quoting because kevmode thought dominic had no right to chip in because he once shot porno. Thats insane to me. Its likely we all took money from some gambling addict at one point, shall we all go burn in hell?

I agree. Just felt the need to comment on that specific point about porn. For some reason a lot of people blame the consumers when it comes to porn, when its pretty clear that the creators are the problem. Probably because porn and sex content creators use the argument that they are empowered women as a shield from criticism. Its a lot easier then to criticize degenerate porn obsessed losers.

Of course theres also an element of your own responsibility, but the main responsibility is on the people creating a harmful market.

I could only watch the first 5-10 mins of the interview as it was so confusing. The story bounced around so much.

It's good to see that he's taking time off to relax at the beach, hopefully things get better for him.

I'm from the UK and know a few people who have been sectioned in similar situations and IMO it has been worth it for them. The public health services aren't going to want to keep him there for any longer than they deem safe.

Maybe the health care workers are in on it.

Tom is displaying all the classic signs of initial phases of long-term mental health deterioration.

The way this usually goes is that after the first episode subsides the patient returns to their apparently normal self except that they deny responsibility for anything that happened during the episode or its compulsory treatment. They segregate the world into "us" ( in this case Abril and his new romantic interest and various peers & fanboys ) vs "them" ( authorities, mental health workers, press, basically anyone who asks hard questions ).

Probably the absolute worst thing Tom could have done was go on a live stream ( X Spaces ) because what he needs is an honest self-appraisal and that's not going to happen on that venue.

Clearly he thinks it's back-to-normal now talking about returning to his jet set lifestyle ( playing a lot of poker in Vegas this summer, world travel, etc. ).

As per his own statements: OhHeyCindy is off Aderal after being on it for many years and he still 'has to live with' the damage done to his brain. This stuff, as well as most American prescription drugs, have serious long-lasting effects.

He's a born again FWIW... Still winning grinder though which is good, although its on untracked sites

Somewhere in there they talked about her not hitting record, so I think they conveniently didn't record the first few minutes where he told the actual airplane story.

You saw that too!?

yeah that sounds about right, alarm bells would be at an 11 if they were literally starting that way in reality

still though, his pressured speech pattern was obvious and a huge canary in the coal mine for these things

You are in no space to make moral judgements. You videotaped pornography as a job, so you have a low character. Get off your high moral ground talking down to others you are no better than anyone else. That topic at hand is about whether or not Tom Dwan is going to pay his debts off.

1) it was FILM, not videotape, back in my day, buddy. At least at the beginning.

2) I'm sorry, who are you?? I mean, besides a borderline personality clown.

Dom, you’ve been on here long enough to know exactly who kevmode is, c’mon.

He’s either the greatest troll ever—the product of a genuine genius—or he’s the resident weirdo whose brand of autism distinguishes himself even here, the land of autists.

His post/story about the shootout in the casino was one of my favorite posts from the old days..where he talks (in GREAT detail) about the color of the rug and the quality of the buffet and the smell of cigarettes for paragraphs, then halfway through says ‘oh yea, then there was a shootout,’ as if it was an afterthought, a mere sideshow to the buffet, before continuing with his casino review again.

You're a moron. πŸ˜ƒ

I’m an attention seeker, and a moron. Got it.

I like how you just stopped trying to actually defend anything you post.

What was the name of this ‘documentary’ you watched? Was it not a YouTube video?
I just made an educated guess..maybe I’m wrong.

Who’s this expert? What’s his name? Link these studies, that I’m sure you’ve read (lol).

Go back to YouTube and continue your education…I’m sure there are some TikToks that need watching. I thought you left this thread.

100% agree

Tom’s version of events is very likely to be widely inaccurate. You don’t get restrained on a flight with cable ties unless you are posing a risk to either yourself or others. There’s a guy who posted in a Reddit thread who claims to have been on his flight from LAX to LHR (see post below).

β€œHe’s having a mental breakdown. He was on my flight from LAX to LHR, sitting next to me in business class. At first what seemed to be just him being fidgety, turned into him having a complete freak out and starting to put his hands on the female flight crew. He began screaming racial slurs at a black man and random homophobic shit. Eventually he was threatening to be violent and I had to pin him on the ground and use zip ties to detain him. All of this happened 15 min after a woman had a heartattack on the plane. It wasn’t an easy flight to say the least.”

by ggbruuce m

He also wanted / did make a bet (?) that he could convince sauce in like 30 minutes that gto is not the best strat like 10 years ago lol

IIRC he did bet he could convince sauce (or Ike) that no limit holdem was not a solvable game. He was probably right, but the way he was trying to explain it was ridiculous.
Maybe he was trying to make himself look smarter than he was, or he really had a hard time explaining what he was thinking.

i remember the live stream when he tried the super 4d chess trick to get robbi to confess to cheating by throwing it in to another question with something like "how was your yoga practice going the week you were planning the scam?"
