President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

the USA is a worldwide outlier and unlike basically every other country in the world, it retains fiscal power over it's citizens even if they leave.

So no you can't just avoid the taxman by leaving if you are an American.

you have to renounce your citizenship which is a lot different (and requires you to first find another citizenship which isn't automatic).

We were at the point where income taxes was over .

We're almost on year 10 of this ****. How have you not figured out how to speak Trump yet?

Maybe you dumb mother****ers (meaning Americans) shouldn't vote for a president who hasn't figured out how to speak English yet?

i agree

but... you gotta realize the last president we had literally didn't know who george clooney was despite knowing him for decades (and being one of the most famous people on the planet) on the very evening in which clooney had organized a fundraiser which brought him 30 million dollars

and when interviewed about how those documents from his vp stint wound up in his garage, he literally didn't remember moving out of the naval observatory to his house, nor could even remember which years he served as vp

and yet, we were within a hair of this man running again for a second term and would have still gotten millions of voters supporting that senile person

and here he is still proclaiming that it was wrong for him to step down and that he would have won the last election if he wasn't removed by an internal party coup

I agree, yeah, Trump is not ideal, but guys, WHATTABOUT BIDEN?! And BTW, I'm definitely a liberal.

FYP.

When are the dems gonna actually start coming up with stuff people will vote for. They are terrible at getting organised.

Judging by what people actually vote for, I guess Bernie Madoff/Harvey Weinstein would have been the ideal ticket.

Probably never. Their donors don't want it so the Dems you see are the Dems that meet with their approval. Plus of course libs are full of **** anyway and will always put a cap on how much fairness they'll actually vote for.

Not enough accelerationism in that ticket. The world is hurtling towards catastrophes, so you want someone who can burn it all down quickly, so it will be in ruins before that happens.

Also, way too little pull on social media.

A ticket of Ye / MrBeast is what you need.

How we feel about tariffs on individual companies?

Great. Now tariff the **** out of oil and gas and banks.

Who the **** is he thanking?

When enough won't vote for them if they dont

Not even then. Liberals think it's not their fault if the voters are too stupid to appreciate their uninspiring policies.

I'm sure a personal "gift" would magically make this go away...

Remember when the droolers raised a stink about free markets when kamala wanted to look into price gouging?

Tariffs are bad, but domestic price controls are far worse.

Whatever happened to all those countries that were lining up to make trade deals? Oh yeah, he lied. .....again.

Lot of « if » but the point remains biden wasn’t on the ballot and they voted for trump by a majority.

Americans went from TDS to BDS .

I'm expecting the ole crash the market and then buy the dip on 9th July. That's the day the 90 days is up, right?

so have we now reached the point where the only benefits trump provide his supporters are sharia law but Christians and creating a permanent sense of fear in minorities?

Mong told us the market was booming.
Maybe that meant something else?

I realize it’s not the point, but I do think it’s important to note it was a plurality, not a majority

I don't know what is more wild; that crypto investors are openly bribing Trump in a (likely successful) attempt to influence crypto policy. Or that Trump has normalized this kind of stuff so much that it is barely newsworthy.

What's more likely: Trump thinks drug companies sell cars and wine, or he skipped over some story-connecting details in his rant?

C'mon, people. There's so much better stuff to latch onto.

It's worse than that. The video is misleadingly clipped. If you look at the entire statement, it's clear that the "they" he is referring to is not the drug companies. The strategy he is describing is bad, but he isn't suggesting that drug companies sell cars.

I'm getting more than a little sick of outrage vendors on both sides cutting clips in misleading ways in order to make them appear incomprehensible. During the campaign, I criticized the KamalaHQ X account for doing this very thing, and of course right wing accounts do this all the time as well.

This sort of overt misinformation fuels cynicism, and cynicism is a great friend of authoritarianism.

Where's DOGE when you need them? Oh, right.

A U.S. official who requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly about the matter told NPR the conversion would likely cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Aboulafia says that should concern taxpayers, since the current program to upgrade Air Force One was a fixed contract signed with Boeing — meaning that all the costs of extending the project are being borne by Boeing and its investors.

"Most likely there will be money spent on this jet, probably a lot more than what the jet is worth," he says. "All of this amounts to, you know, frankly, a waste of taxpayer dollars in terms of this additional vanity project."
