President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Ok, between all your goalpost shifting and charts and my not having any inclination to spend any time deciphering what the **** point you're now trying to make, I am just going to give up and say "lol".

And I had such high hopes for you after you seemed to start to understand what "violent" meant in a previous post. But, it seems you just can't stop using words incorrectly.

How does per capita allocation of a country's national debt factor into the "poorer" equation, if at all?

Serious question...

by bahbahmickey

Besides tax rates none of these things are in my top 1,000 things I’d care about when choosing a country to live in.

The cost (and quality) of health care really isn't in your top 1000?

The US has the most money spent on health care of any country, yet the worst results of any rich country.

how much revenue would even be collected from raising rates from 37% to 39.6% on people making 2.5M and up?

can't imagine much, not many people make over 2.5M in salary

by Luciom

well Canadian per Capita GDP is a lot lower.Quebec (the most regulated/European like area) is as poor as the poorest American states, and the richest region of Canada is that more akin to USA in political propensity and local regulations and taxes (Alberta).what else do you need to prove that all those regulations, and in general a local propensity toward leftism, materially ma

I think it's more likely the cause and effect are the opposite of what you're implying. Low taxes and conservative governments don't cause large fossil fuel deposits.

And many of those that do will find ways to not pay the full amount. You're far better off taxing their property instead.

Some chatgpt math -

Specifically targeting only those earning over $2.5 million—roughly in the range of $5 to $10 billion per year of extra tax revenue.

taking your stuff is violence, even if it's legal. It can be legal violence, it can be justified. Still violence.

Can't at the federal level in the USA no matter if you think it would be proper or not.

Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 and Article I, Section 9, Clause 4 forbid it, same reason why a federal wealth tax in general would be unconstitutional.

I mean technically it wouldn't, but each state would have to pay in exact proportion to it's population, not it's wealth. You can't target individual wealth through federal taxation constitutionally in the USA.

That's why they actually needed to amend the constitution to allow a federal INCOME tax, but the amendment covered only income, not possessions

I'm reminded of the following quip:

Democracy is three wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner.

(Or something like that.)

Maybe because u only see one side of the equation .
What happens once you actually start to live in the U.S. compare to Canada ?
U have to get an education .
Need healthcare
Etc….
In Canada the chance of losing your home just to pay healthcare bill is non existent.
That’s a good start for me …

Don’t use that excuses to try immigrate here …

What's your take on why Canada is much poorer than the USA then? even with the USA wasting a disastrous amount of money on unproductive defense spending for decades?

Money isn’t synonymous to quality of life .
The U.S. actually proves it .

Unfortunately it doesn’t prove it to them becuase they have no happiness yardstick to measure with. They’re brought up to accept as normal working ridiculous hours with no vacation, no national health service and guns everywhere and most don’t question any of it because they’re indoctrinated with the love of money.

It’s a failed, broken country full of broken people being continually exploited by con men and bullies, and finally people are beginning to realise it.

The music and films have been pretty good, though.

They do really good beer these days

Once again demosntrating Churchill's quip that "Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted"

Some of the beer is fine but I wouldn't describe it as moreish, which is the gold standard for me (I'd say the same about a lot of craft beer here).

I haven't researched it a whole lot. But a quick Grok search tells me Canadians work more hours annually than Americans. Also USA has a higher % of workers with paid vacation than Canada.

Words fail me.

Everyone outside of MAGA during the campaign: guys, this dude is a literal fascist

MAGA during the campaign: stop overreacting libtard

MAGA today: sucks for you, losers

Please show us your work …

The 10 countries with the least paid vacation—the U.S. is No. 2

I mean I’m sure there/are were some intelligent nazis and white supremacists, I’d still call them braindead morons if they gave a bad argument

you're literally equating laughing at someone calling jogging a political act of privilege to be equivalent to conducting the holocaust

yes, i'm sure everyone reading this agrees that of the two of us, i'm the one who is braindead

What the **** are cisstrawberries? No matter the answer, I don't think this is a good analogy. The relationship between Trump and other prominent Republicans isn't akin to a marriage (or at least it shouldn't be). And even if the relationship were akin to a marriage, there is no reason at this point to believe that those Republicans are privately opposing Trump. Also, there is

cis is the prefix for normal

and parent/child dynamic is a common understanding of governance - especially in asia

the point of an analogy is to compare, not equate. someone of your high intelligence should probably know that.
