President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
This has been done to death a thousand times. Hitler would hve been defeated anyway.
And does that mean america lost?
Wait, is he saying that lol?
Like as some sort of gotcha?
No one would be dumb enough to imply people thinks the US won the war alone.
I'm sure it's something else.
Patiently waiting for clarification.
No, but they could have prevented him from being the nominee, either openly or surreptitiously.
It’s important to remember the only reason trump even became the nominee in 2016 is the sheer volume of people who were exactly the same who ran allowing a fringe candidate who had 100% of the fringe consistently winning pluralities
The consolidation against him happened way too ****ing late to work and here we are
you can't really treat a candidate chosen by voters in primaries the same as an hand picked candidate of the party elites, can you?
democrats voters had their say in primaries about Harris and confidently said they were disgusted by her more than basically all other options they were given.
republican primary voters wanted Trump.
not the same.
This is obviously dumb. Harris would have won an open primary. By your logic Al Gore, HW Bush, Biden would have never won either because they were so disgusting to their party base. Since we've had open primaries no sitting VP has ever lost their parties nomination....and it's pretty unlikelt the first ever that could get over 48% in the general.

I’m going to ignore any of Lucy’s gibberish when I say what I say because I don’t want to be tied to it/that on any level: it is unlikely Kamala wins an open primary
Kamala is very good debating 1 on 1, which she showed when she wiped the floor with fat ****, but she showed in the 2020 primary that she can’t hang when attacked from all sides. Plus the VP status fails for 2 critical reasons: 1. The administration was deeply unpopular among dems at the time a primary would be happening and 2. The very nature of Kamala being VP was a convoluted mess. When Biden pidgeonholed himself into stating he’d put a woman as his runningmate it was, if you believe reports, to be KloBo before the Floyd incident and protests forced him to pivot away and Kamala was the only logical choice
There was a lot Kamala couldn’t shake even before you account for racism/sexism working against her
The point is it's stupid to pretend like her performance as a Senator matters when she would be running as a VP, not a senator. To say a poor performance in your first primary means your party is disgusted by you means a high percentage of presidents and party nominees actually disgusted their party which is super dumb but on par for the source.

Racism/sexism works for her to be picked VP, but not for an open primary?

As far as I remember Kamala’s approval as VP at the time an open primary would have happened was disastrously low
I doubt you remember her polling among dems which wasn't heavily polled. It would take an exceptionally bad VP not to get the nomination and exceptionally bad candidates wouldn't get 48%.
So are we no longer pretending the stockmarket is proof about trump? Will we start again when it suits us?
It's a very bad game for us to play. The objections to trump are not because of what the markets think or economic headline figures. We risk looking really stupid and giving trump credibility while missing the point completely.
6-8 months before Trump implements his stupid tariff policies, this forum was flooded with people posting articles with economists predicting the disastrous effect it would have on our economy.
Now, he implements his stupid tariff policies, it's a disaster for the economy, just like experts (and anyone with a lick of common sense) said it would be.
Trump: This is Biden's fault.
Trumpers: neener-neener orange man bad market down trump bad TDS TDS
There's a reason we make fun of you idiots.
There's a reason you may make us look very stupid while bolstering trumpism.
It's playing with fire for no reason at all except the giggles. While distracting from the real objections to trump etc and making it harder for us to have good policies that come with some pain for the markets
I don't know if that was directed at me but mine wasn't directed at you, unless you're a Trumper going neener neener TDS
It's directed at everyone who is opposed to trump etc etc but makes it about markets/short term economics
It's hitting ourselves on the head with a hammer and we do it repeatedly.
Nobody in the world would get over 53% against Trump.
