I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

All competitive D1 women's basketball teams (and at least some WNBA teams) practice against men (who, by definition, stopped playing after high school). It's the only way to have a challenging practice because the back half of the roster sucks. Nope, there's not much difference at all. That's why biological women that transition to men join men's sports and compete at the same level. Let's list them now.

To be fair, the notion that Trump was good for the economy wasn’t based on stuff he actually did or had control over to begin with so it wasn't hard to destroy.

It was based in the fact that doing very little and deregulating even a bit, which was broadly the expectation of market experts as well (hence the rally after he won) , is a lot better than most other options, already in the top quintile of economic strategies (as far as POTUS is concerned).

And yes that included some tariff nonsense which was expected, like the blanket additional 20 on China.

Ofc nothing like the disaster we have assisted and to be clear, this kind tariff disaster wasnt even mentioned by democrats as one of the possible risks of trump winning, a lot of people who dislike Trump for a variety of reasons, I'd say most, did except a placid set of economic policies, perhaps deregulation they disagreed with for non economic reasons sure , but no frontal attack to the USD as the global reserve currency or anything like that

He took over a good economy and completely rebuilt federal agencies from Obama after the W Bush disaster. Nothing he did had a measurable impact on the economy other than deficit that he ballooned. If he somehow got to 5% growth experts would give his policies credit, but as it stands they don’t really give him credit for any major positive economic impact.

I am talking this term. This term he was expected to do the same economic-policy wise. And that would have been good enough again, because doing little is a lot better than messing up

I guess it teaches the lesson that some people are stronger and more coordinated than others, which often leads to them becoming bullies. But I think most could learn that just from observation without encouragement. And it builds teamwork at the expense of ostracizing those who aren't good enough to make the team and vilifying the opposing team.It can make people better potent

It's almost as if youth sports are trying to get kids prepared for the real world.

Well you learn that taking in bad people in your team is basically the worst possible mistake the team can do, and there is nothing you can do yourself to fix that when that happens, and only kicking them out fixes the problem.

Do you think some Magas have hit this point yet?

The rules you are describing don't sound accurate. I believe that Pat Summit was the first coach to start having her team scrimmage against men, and my understanding was that she used intramural level players. I would not be at all surprised if there was a no dunking rule. I'm sure that she didn't pick guys on campus who were 6'9. And it's probable that she didn't even choose the best intramural players available, even from among the shorter guys. But I would be shocked if she prohibited the men from jumping, contesting, or pressuring the dribble. There would be no point to such a scrimmage. And what you describe isn't consistent with the sorts of video you can find on youtube.

Someone like Paige Bueckers or Caitlin Clark obviously would get embarrassed by a D1 men's guard. But some mid-level six-foot intramural player? Nah. They'd be fine in that sort of game. And it isn't particularly unusual to see elite women's players playing in pick-up games with men. When I was kid, there were two Olympic/professional level women's players who used to play in local pick-up games with men all the time. And that was a long time ago.

Nothing to see here.

A doctor born in the United States says she received an email from federal immigration authorities demanding that she leave the country immediately.

The email to Anderson comes days after a Boston immigration attorney — who is also a U.S. citizen — received the same email from DHS, telling her to leave the country within seven days. The attorney, Nicole Micheroni, told MSNBC that as of Tuesday, federal officials had not followed up.

Pointing to the Boston email, Anderson said that she does not "have anything to do with immigration."

They just sent that email to every email that appeared on an immigration parole document (yes really)

How many more times do we need random 13-15 year old males to beat the US Women's National soccer team before we acknowledge that women are kinda shitty at sports, through no fault of their own, and we shouldn't force them to compete against men? Basic human biology is a helluva drug.

I stayed up way too late last night so maybe it's me, but all I see on that article are references to this person competing in the women's division.

Hergie Tao-Wag Bacyadan (born November 4, 1994)[3][1] is a Filipino boxer and kickboxer; Also a former wushu and vovinam practitioner, Bacyadan has competed in the women's division in all sports.

Bacyadan also have competed in kickboxing. He won a gold medal in the women's K1 -75kg division of the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championships in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.[10] This qualified him a berth in the 2025 World Games in China. [11]

Bacyadan prefers sparring with cisgender male boxers as part of his practice, which he believes benefits him in women's boxing.[15]

In the 2024 Summer Olympics, Li Qian would eliminate him early via unanimous decision in round 16 of the women's 75 kg (middleweight) division.[16] Shortly after the end of his stint, Bacyadan have expressed openness to turn to professional boxing.[17]

And most importantly:

...with Bacyadan affirming that he is eligible to compete as he is "born female" and has not taken male hormones or gender surgery, due to the fact that such procedures would result in disqualification.[9]

You are the king of creating fantasy straw men. Very active imagination. Very feminine energy

Rick is the king of "my experience trumps everything". Beer league softball isn't relevant in the slightest to the conversation

What about the lady who did finish second?

I don't know if you bother to read the responses to you or not, but you've already been told numerous times that a cisgender woman finished first. So, what about her?!?

What makes Riley Gaines transphobic?

She says any number of transphobic things and approvingly retweets transphobic statements from other people. Go on her Twitter page for at least 8.3 seconds and you'll see.

how about we just don't treat people with dicks differently depending on how they feel?

It's funny how you people have exactly zero concern for trans males with vaginas (or post-bottom surgery trans men). I NEVER hear about them from the transphobes, in any context, other than them posting pictures of Elliot Page before he transitioned and going "LOOK AT WHAT THEY'VE TAKEN FROM US!" which is truly gross. It's SO ODD that they're never concerned with THESE trans people creeping around and checking out men in the men's bathrooms. Anyway,

btw "what is a woman" is so trivial that a now sitting SCOTUS judge refused to answer it while under oath

I assume you're referring to this dumb **** from 2022, as I don't see anything more recent: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/heal... -- in which Judge Jackson didn't fully comfortable opining about the definition of a woman as it has nothing to do with her job and if she says the wrong thing can be gotcha'd by creeps like you.

A woman is an adult human whose brain chemistry informs them that they identify with female-coded traits. Wow, time to celebrate, I just answered the eternally unanswerable question!

I don't know if anybody gave such an answer in Matt Walsh's undoubtedly deeply moronic films; I bet you could fill me in there.

If you are talking about slow-pitch, beer league softball, I guess that I believe you, but's that's mainly because slow pitch softball is somewhat like a long-driving contest in golf.

In competitive fast-pitch softball, making contact, picking ground balls, etc., has more relative importance than it does in slow pitch beer leagues. There is no way that your average guy who quit playing baseball at age 11 will be better at picking ground balls than a woman who was a D1 infielder in the recent past.

i think you're doing an excellent job arguing against yourself when you point out the best female athletes in the world are able to play pickup games against an average male

As far as I know, I haven't argued for or against anything related to transgender athletes. I simply pointed out what I believed was a flawed description in how women's basketball teams practice against men. The pick up games I was describing mostly consisted of college intramural playes and people currently playing high school basketball. I wasn't talking about pick-up games in the driveway against 11-year olds kids or old fat guys.

Also, an average 6'0 male intramural player at a place like UT isn't "average" at playing basketball for a 6'0 man. He is probably better at basketball than at least 90% of the comparably sized men on campus.

It's fine to acknowledge the obvious fact that male athletes generally are bigger, stronger, and faster than female athletes. It's fine to have a debate about what the rules should be around transgender athletes. It's dumb to try and win that debate by making hyperbolic statements about the differences between male and female athletes.

Texas has 50,000 students so 90% seems incredibly conservative.

Probably more like 99% but w/e
