A senior US government official has called for
“lower quality humans” to be sterilized en masse

https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/news/worl...

They have? Can you quote who this senior US govt official is and what exactly they said.

I am going to predict this article is bad faith clickbait, Steamraise has never even read the article he linked, and if one dug into it they would find the accusations are being made in extreme bad faith.

I took one for the team. It's an article about past sterilizations under dubious circumstances and a guy in the state dept who allegedly (no source) indicated that violent mentally ill people should maybe be sterilized.

There's a Louis CK bit about this.

"Of course it's terrible to suggest that we sterilize the worst of society. Violent criminals with a history of mental illness are humans, too. OF COURSE it would be awful. But, maybe... maybe we don't need more uncared for children sired by people who have demonstrated a complete inability to participate in polite society."

Something like that.

I'm on record saying that we should be doing this with abortions. First one is on the house. Mistakes happen, we get it. Number two comes with a free guarantee that you can't be back for number 3. Call me whatever names you want. I could be convinced to make the same case for violent criminals, but those are extremely muddy waters considering the people who will be in charge of the definition of "violent".

Here, I found a better article that brings receipts:

Trump State Department official has repe...

In May 2024, Beattie wrote on X: “Population control? If only!”

“Higher quality humans are subsidizing the fertility of lower quality humans,” he added, calling it the “Foundational reality of social and political life in the post-war West.”

In January 2023, he wrote: “The hierarchy of taboos is interesting. The horrific practice of 2nd trimester abortion is legal in some places and well within Overton window of public discourse. But idea of offering feral populations financial incentives for voluntary sterilization is completely taboo.”

In October of that year, he responded to a video of people in a neighborhood in Atlanta, saying: “When a population gets feral, a little snip snip keeps things in control. Could offer incentives (Air Jordans, etc.).”

“Interesting moral universe we live in where abortion is celebrated, but the notion of giving smart people incentives or cash to start families is so far out of Overton window no sitting politician of either party would dare advocate it,” he said.

Not gonna bother looking for a quality photo of the Hannibal Buress meme.

Whats a little light eugenics amongst friends?

It always seems practical on paper but ultimately gets used as an excuse to remove black people from existance.

Like I wonder if there are any contextual clue that can help us determine what color skin the "feral population" had

Ins0, how is it you're a creationist and a eugenics guy at the same time? Pick a lane and stay in it, my dude.

If you're going to take the LOL BIBLETHUMPER route, then you'd have to acknowledge that one of those stories involves God himself saying, "Alright, you've all done ****ed up. These 8 people are the only ones righteous enough to live. Everyone else gets the hose."

Wellness farms sound awful. The mentally ill should be homeless on the street where they belong.

So you do believe in evolution? Or do you just instinctively latch onto the most revolting bronze-age takes you can find regardless of intellectual consistency?

Republicans don't give a **** about homeless people, wtf even is this take.

Its impossible to understand what Republicans want because its so inconsistent from day to day.

Lets socialize care for the homeless! Lets slash SNAP! Social programs are a waste! Heres 5,000$ out of our 300$ per person savings from gutting the federal government, yay!

Picture two doors.

Behind door number one is a government-funded wellness center with very strict rules that you must follow to perfection or you get kicked out. This is for people who truly want to change. They get clean and have a job waiting for them to clean up the city streets or plant trees in greenspaces until they find something else to do. Scandanavian countries do this sort of thing, and it's what most people cite as the proper way of dealing with the homeless problem.

Behind door number two is a government-funded all-you-can-eat buffet of every illicit street drug you can imagine, and a bunch of comfy beanbag chairs. This is for the majority of homeless people who really just want to be left alone to do drugs. No medical staff allowed. You chose this path, and you must walk it alone. It's basically a giant warehouse, and keeps people off the street. You cannot take any drugs outside of the building, and this is strictly enforced.

The homeless drug addict problem will solve itself pretty quickly as the ODs pile up, but I'm not going to volunteer to be the one that cleans out the bodies from the bean bag room. Maybe people from the wellness center can do that as a reminder of what awaits them if they relapse.

Think outside the box to solve society's problems. The "nice" way isn't working so well.

You cannot help people who do not want to be helped. It's a waste of limited public time and money. Families need to be the ones shouldering the labor and monetary burden for drug addicts and homeless people. Government should be the last resort.

This is largely how public wellness centers operate in the US already. They are funded through donation instead of government subsidy

The reality is most people in this position don't want to change and are "content" with wasting away on the street

Neither party cares about homeless people. It appears the Democrats care more because they are a bunch of virtue signalers. Both parties consist of wealthy people who only care about their image.

You can only help someone as far as they are willing to help themselves. In that sense I don’t know what the solution is. Nobody does. People just don’t want to see them or have to think about them which is where “camps” come into play.

Ultimately I am not trying to virtue signal. I don’t care about homeless people that much. I just think it’s an interesting dichotomy to support homeless camps but not food stamps
