The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Lol ignores the post just whataboutisms, as usual.
Buddy, I supported the revenue neutral , market based approach to climate change. It's the cheap one! All the others like say direct subsidies or whatever are all much more expensive and usually more disruptive to free markets. You can't just throw out "but what about the debt" when debating a revenue neutral policy ffs.
The PBO on Sept 25 said the deficit is a big problem and we all know Carney is going to add another 90 billion soon
I think his comment was if you do a household budget and every month you spend more than coming it’s going to be a problem
I support a carbon tax with no rebates or only rebates to folks that pay the carbon tax in their jobs
If you guys keep arguing the carbon tax is a good thing I’ll argue my side
The carbon tax is nothing more than income redistribution
For my part I’m not arguing much , I just tell you what the expert saying ….
But you know better .
Ps: it’s not really income redistribution, it’s actually the contrary .
People that use more energy will pay more shrug
A strange stance you have for a conservative .

Cool whataboutism bro. I get you're eager to move on to a new issue, but come on, try to stay focused at least for a little bit.

No you don't. The former is a MUCH MUCH MUCH costlier proposition, and is precisely what happens at your income level in BC. And you were just earlier screeching about the personal costs to you in BC as someone who doesn't qualify for the rebate. The idea that if the liberals had proposed this costlier version of the tax you would support it is unimaginable.

Actually I would support a carbon tax but 100% of the revenue goes into a fund that rebates
Solar panel installs on new and renovation construction
Rebates for all EV purchases including Teslas and dropping the tariff on Chinese EVs
National Building code changes to incorporate BCs energy codes on new construction
Fund would be audited and no rebates based on income
Lol no you wouldn't. If Trudeau had implemented a carbon tax that is vastly more expensive to every day people there is exactly ZERO chance you would support it. None. I don't know whether this is some bid that you are so twisted in partisanship it blinds you to just basic logic and you "support" the more punitive plan while endlessly critiquing the plan that rebates back 90% as too expensive. Like take every single whining sniveling poilievre-lapping comment from you over the years complaining about this carbon tax is too expensive. Give us a break. If Trudeau or Carney proposing doing anything - anything - on climate you will oppose it 100% of the time.

Each of these policies would solve climate change ?
Seem heavily targeted in your work interest huh 😀

Non of them would but it would satisfy the folks that say we have a moral responsibility and not an income redistribution.
Let’s be clear you can’t tax your way out of climate change .
Alcoves remember according to Dr Greta the world will end in 2023 if we do nothing
Lozen you like Vassy, did you see the bit where she asked Poilievre repeatedly said over and over and over again that you could cancel the carbon tax and grocery prices would go way down, and then the carbon tax was cancelled and it didn't move grocery prices stayed the same actually went up a bit and so why would anyone trust Poilievre on economics ever again?
I finally saw that interview and he does look bad in it. I thought he would be better off saying the carbon tax increased prices and now the big grocers are keeping those savings
I know Uke values the PBO and here he talks about Carney's deficits and they are not sustainable and he is heading us into dangerous territory

Why would you want the lying Poilievre who got caught lying try to rescue himself by more lying? You think Vassy would have let that new lie slide? Come on.

see right there is your problem...
you are the only who cares and believe scientific facts from a high school student..
then try to call out experts liars because you think she is shrug.

Nah I believe in climate change but if you have experts going back 40-50 years saying we only have 10 years to fix the problem every 10 years . Heck I admired one scientist I saw this year that stated it’s to late

This is mostly just a self own. It isn't 50 years, but ya if we had listened to the scientists in the 1990s and 2000s giving warnings and acted then, we wouldn't have locked in the significant warming that will happen. Now when people talking about acting in the next 10 years that has a lot of global warming baked into the cake. We are now trying to limit the extremes of how bad it will be. It will be bad regardless. So there is no "but" in your sentence. For decades scientists have been close to unanimously warning for us to act, and we did nothing. You championed doing nothing. You endlessly repeated that it doesn't matter. You opposed to the one policy that made mild forward progress. So you only have yourself - and millions like you - to blame.

What year did Al Gores documentary come out ?
As someone who "believes in climate change" - apparently - I presume you asking this because the documentary has largest stood the test of time and humanity really ought to have gotten its act together two decades ago, unfortunately two decades later and we still have people like you decrying even modest climate policies as too expensive and not going to do anything.
whats the meaning of uke?
why uke master?

No most of his predictions never happened
around 2006 so ?
again al gore a prominent scientist...?
with a study he presented with peer reviews ?
Or he just came out with some flashy arguments in a good documentary to waking up the people ?
and fwiw some prediction did happen if i remember a bit his documentary and i have no memory of him predicting the end of the worl by 2025 if nothing being done ?
what are u referring exactly?
Oh this is just some climate denialist BS you've fallen down the rabbit hole on. All the major inconvenenient truths - the earth is warming, ice is melting, sea levels are rising, etc - all remain inconvenient truths today. The film mostly, with some minor things here and there, did a good job of stating established science of 20 years ago. I'm not quite sure why are you obsessing about the science of 20 years ago, but the science of today reconfirms all of these things.
lol at the cute climate denialists thinking their climate denialism is clever
Specifically Canadians denying global warming after the summer we've just had is just bonkers.
Uke, how do you feel about Carney pledging 400m for the West bank and Gaza? Not sure how credible the sources are so this could be a nothing burger but still curious how liberals feel about this now that Canada is heading towards a recession and tons of layoffs are looming.
If it wasn't so tragic, it's hilarious that you think noting basic, basic low level facts about climate change like that that the ice caps are melting and the sea level rising is some type of self pwn.
