My journey

My journey

If anyone is reading this, I hope you’ll join me on this journey

I'm Lewis. I work full-time as a graphic designer, but poker has always been one of my biggest interests. I’ve been around the game in one way or another since I was young, and at the beginning of this year, I finally decided to start taking it seriously

I recently discovered this forum and came across several blogs from players who documented their progress month by month—from playing the micros to eventually becoming professionals. I really love that idea, and I’d like to do something similar

Hopefully, when the day comes that I can call myself a professional poker player, I’ll be able to look back at these posts and have a nice record of the entire journey.

Current Situation

Right now, I’m taking my first shot at NL50 with a BR of roughly 35–38 BIs

My plan is to continue the shot until I either lose 12 BIs or manage to establish myself at the stake. I know variance is brutal, but I feel prepared enough to deal with it

Also, if I can’t emotionally handle moving back down after a failed shot, then poker might not be for me

Worst-case scenario, I’ll move back down to NL25 with around 40–45 BIs, which I consider reasonable

My goal is to post a weekly update. Since I also have a full time job, there might be some weeks where I don’t have that much volume or anything particularly interesting to share. For now, I want to use this first post to share my goals

Short-Term Goal

Stay fully present at the tables, avoid distractions while playing, and try not to be results-oriented. I want to focus on making the best possible decision in every spot instead of worrying about short-term results

Mid-Term Goal

Improve my postflop game OOP, both in SRPs and 3BPs.

Long-Term Goal

Establish myself as a winning reg at NL50 and achieve a WR of at least 3 bb/100 pre-rake.

Let’s see where this journey takes me. GL at the tables!

"Establish myself as a winning reg at NL50 and achieve a WR of at least 3 bb/100 pre-rake."

and rake is 12bb/100, you lose longrun 9bb/100 hand.

Sorry for the confusion. English isn't first language, so I'll probably make mistakes like this in the future, hahaha. I hope you won't be too hard on me. Anyways, what I meant was 3 bb/100 pre rakeback
